My name is Marc Gunn, The Celtfather. I started this show in 2005 with my co-host Kristen Roger. My goal was to highlight Renaissance Festivals around the world so that you could have continuous faire entertainment even when you were out of reach of a faire.
We have hundreds of listeners around the globe who have never been to a Renaissance festival, but love the culture that we share each week. Our love of faires shines through. Last year, we won a Parsec Award for Best Music Podcast.
Our success is due in large part to Tony Artym and Matt Ledder. Tony runs the facebook page, manages the faire news segment and has started producing fun skits for the show. Matt started interviewing folks at faires a couple years ago. He brought an exciting and infectious dynamic to the show which is what brings us to his Kickstarter campaign.
How This Campaign Began
One day last year, we lamented that Matt is stuck way up North. His home faire is in Minnesota. He doesn't have the resources to get to other faires. Because of your help, we're gonna send Matt to a Renaissance festival near you.
In January 2012, we asked Minions to nominate and vote for what faire we should send Matt to. The winner was Sherwood Forest Faire.
If we can raise $600 in two weeks, Matt will fly down to Texas for the faire. Your pledge will pay for
- Air travel to Texas
- Hotel stay for the weekend
- A rental car to get him to the faire
- Miscellaneous expenses
- and any Kickstarter fees
Any extra money will go back to the podcast to help pay for our hosting expenses.
What If We Raise More Than $600?
If we get another $600 in pledges, we ask Minions to nominate and vote for a SECOND FAIRE later in the year for Matt to travel to. That's right, we're gonna get the most from this campaign.
We want to give you more interviews, more music, more entertainment for your buck.
Wait! Isn't the Renaissance Festival Podcast a FREE INTERNET RADIO SHOW?
You bet it is! We lose money every month we put on this show. We publish it BECAUSE WE LOVE FAIRES.
It costs you nothing to listen to the 180+ episodes of the show. So please show your love for the podcast and for Renaissance festivals. Give back to the community.
