About this project
We reached our Stretch Goal - 'Bigger is Better'!
This project achieved its minimum funding level meant to create a 10"x10" 120 page book in an incredible 9 days! The stretch goal allowed for a larger 11" x 11" 144 page book to be created. The book is being designed with the assistance of a professional book designer and copy editor. It will be shipped to backers and then made available in stores and on my website in Summer 2014. You can see the book and buy it here: Buy the Book
Hi, my name is Eyal Oren and I am the photographer behind 'Wednesdays in Marblehead'.
I moved to Marblehead, MA in 2008 and quickly discovered the incredible beauty of this seaside New England town. In August of 2010, I created a website to share the images I was capturing and named it Wednesdays in Marblehead with the naive belief that I would be sharing images once weekly. It didn't take long for me to start posting new images on a daily basis and, with the photographs, came a deeper understanding of and connection to my new hometown.
In the past 4 years, I have shared over 800 images of the town of Marblehead and won Best of Show at the Marblehead Festival of Arts consecutively for the past two years. I have produced calendars using my images that have been very well received and brought with them the request for a coffee table book.
Producing a book is a very expensive endeavor and I cannot do it without your help. The cost for an initial print run of 1,000 books with proofing and design help is approximately $15,000. I am asking for your support in coming up with $11,000 to make this project a reality and bring the book to life. On the right you will find various pledge levels. Each offers a reward for your pledge which you will receive in addition to my deepest thanks.
I expect the book to retail for $44.95 (plus tax/shipping) when this project is completed. The pledge levels allow you to purchase a signed copy of the book at less than retail cost with tax and shipping included. I have also added a number of bonuses to thank you for supporting me in this project.
With your help, we can make this dream a reality.
Risks and challenges
The challenges in producing the book lie largely in obtaining the necessary capital to pay for proofing, design fees and an initial large print run. As the book will be printed overseas, there may be delays due to shipping.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
