What is it?
Top Banana is a light snack of a card game. It features gorgeous, hand-drawn, artwork by Gintaras Šeškus.
It is a perfect appetizer game which supports drop-in and drop-out play. This means someone can join (or leave) without negatively impacting anyone’s experience. Just the thing for starting (or finishing) a game night.
This is a simple card game for 2 to 10 players, lasting around 5-15 minutes per game. Its simple rules and game play allow for play with children and elderly. Its varied nature and potential strategies engage adult gamers.
The game itself consists of a deck of 62 mini cards in a tuck box. This makes the game very easy to transport. The cards will be printed on high quality card stock with a linen finish.
How do I play?
Spread the 10 fruit cards out on a table with the bowl at one end. Deal a goal fruit to each player. The players will want to get their fruit to the top of the stack so it can be picked, winning them the game.
On their turn, the active player turns up the top card from the action deck and perform the listed action. These cards will be like, move one fruit up 3 spaces, move a red colored fruit up 2 spaces, swap two fruit’s positions, or flip the whole stack upside down.
The game continues until the ‘Pick a Fruit’ card is drawn. The top-most fruit is removed from the stack. If this is someone’s goal fruit, they win! If not, keep playing.
If this project surpasses $7,500, a mere 150% of the goal, I will include a small expansion set containing three more fruit and support for up to 12 players!
Reward levels. or, what do I get for my money?
The “The Game” level will get you a copy of the game at the estimated retail value.
As a “Supporter of Games” you will have your name printed on the rule cards plus triple the normal karma that comes from backing a project.
If you back this project at the “Lover of Games”, I will separately send you a playtest copy of one of my other games. This will not be random. I will work with you to select for you a game you will enjoy.
These playtest copies will be fully playable games, which have been playtested, but are lacking in art and design elements. I print these myself on cardstock and hand cut them. In some cases, I may engrave dice or 3d print pawns or tokens.
Think of these like getting pages from an artist’s sketch book. When I become famous, these signed playtest copies will be worth lots. If not, you’ll at least get another game from the deal and the satisfaction of helping me bring my games to market.
What are you going do with the money?
Proceeds from this game will be rolled directly into bringing my other games out to market. This will include things like paying artists and putting down deposits with the printer.
Risks and challenges
I already have my art, a printer, and a fulfillment company. The project is as ready to go as I can make it.
That said, this is the first game I'm bringing to Kick Starter. There may be unexpected pitfalls or delays. I've tried to make myself as prepared as possible.
Expect the worst; hope for the best.
