Micro.blog custom domains and pages
Hi everyone! Over the summer we've been improving Micro.blog, with special attention to hosted microblog features like personal domain names and a new feature we just introduced: custom pages.
Micro.blog custom pages can be used for expanded “about” pages, contact information, lists of current projects, essays, or whatever you want to write about on your web site. Pages are automatically included in the navigation for your site.
You can see a screenshot on my blog with the Markdown interface and more details about the pages feature.
We've been inspired by the Micro.blog users who have chosen to jump in and use Micro.blog for their web site. Here are just a few domain names hosted on Micro.blog:
- dancounsell.com: Dan Counsell is the founder of Realmac Software. He's been sharing photos, microblog posts, and longer posts about business.
- www.ryanruns.com: Ryan Irelan is training for a marathon. He uses his Micro.blog-hosted site to write about his runs, and has a custom web page for his training plan.
- hutaffe.blog: Manuel Riess has been posting some great photos to his microblog. Since he has a custom domain name, he can always move his site later and preserve all of the URLs.
If you'd like to use your own domain name with a Micro.blog-hosted site, there's a help page for tips to get started.
Several of you have asked about the Indie Microblogging book. This was a big part of the Kickstarter, and even though the focus of the last few months has been on Micro.blog, I'm still actively working on the book and want to get chapter drafts out for review as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
P.S. As I type this from Austin, parts of Texas including Houston are being hit with massive flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Please consider donating to the American Red Cross, Houston Food Bank, or your favorite charity. Thank you.
