Please welcome Jean MacDonald to Micro.blog
When the Kickstarter campaign for Indie Microblogging was funded early, I took some time to think through what could be accomplished with a stretch goal. I framed the goal around hiring a community manager: someone who could set the tone for Micro.blog and guide it through the problems that today's social networks face. At the time, I knew this was an important step, but I also wasn't sure how soon I could find the right person.
I'm so excited to announce today that Jean MacDonald will be stepping into that role to lead the Micro.blog community. Jean is well known in the Mac community for her work as a partner at Smile and as a founder of App Camp for Girls. She began her tech career in 1997 as a freelance web designer and taught for several years at Pacific Northwest College of Art. I'm confident that Jean's experience will be perfect for guiding the Micro.blog community and helping grow the platform.
(Speaking of App Camp, they've expanded to 4 cities this year! You can read more about how App Camp has grown in a post from Jean earlier this year.)
Thanks to everyone who has supported the Kickstarter project and especially those who reached out about being a part of the Micro.blog team. There's a lot to do and I'm grateful for the opportunity to build something bigger than I could on my own.
We are getting closer to sending invites for the first phase of rolling out Micro.blog. Invites will go directly to the email you have on file with Kickstarter. We are now targeting the week of April 3rd to send these out. I'll send one more reminder when we know the exact rollout schedule so no one misses it.
