'The Glassworker' is a coming of age story about a young boy named Vincent, who is learning the art of Glassblowing from his father in their Glass Shop. As he grows older he begins to fall in love with a frequent visitor of the shop - a young girl named Alliz.
The film will follow both Vincent and Alliz through their developing years as life gets more complicated and inhibits their relationship.
'The Glassworker' is a hand-drawn animated film written and directed by Usman Riaz.
It will be Pakistan's first fully hand drawn animated film.
Currently launching the first part through Kickstarter, Usman invites us to see his vision come to life with his team of animators, artists, and musicians formed under his newly formed ‘Mano Animation Studios’.
Mano Animation Studios comprises of a small team of incredibly talented artists in Pakistan who are making 'The Glassworker' come to life.
The team originates from Pakistan and extends to the United States, Malaysia, United Kingdom and South Africa.
Pakistan has no hand drawn animation industry. But with this film and our studio, we hope to lay the foundation for artists to come and work on beautiful works of art that they can be proud of.
Mano Animation Studios means that we can support new work, and seed opportunities to support a new generation of exceptional artists in Pakistan, and beyond.
We're grateful for every pledge towards the making of 'The Glassworker'.
Quality is something we will not compromise on. To achieve that, we have searched and hired the people who could help us achieve this vision and maintain a standard of excellence that the story deserves.
If successful, the Kickstarter will be used to support our talented team. We have graciously been provided with a stable office/studio environment office that the Pakistan team need to to continue their work. Our team of artists have agreed to a modest fee which will enable them to still work through the first steps of the production.
Of course, any money raised above and beyond our target would mean expanding the team and supporting them with more equipment to deliver an earlier release of The Glassworker - Part One.
There are rewards for everyone.
Our rewards include both digital and exclusive experiences, with features of the music and art from the film itself.
'The Making of the Glassworker' book will give readers insight into how the film was made and will show everything from character designs to architectural models made by the team of artists.
'The Glassworker Storyboards' will show each shot drawn and described by Usman Riaz.
'Paper' the app on the iPad Pro have been a key part in helping Usman create detailed storyboards and sketches. We will be giving these storyboards and sketches as special rewards to our backers!
The Score for 'The Glassworker' will be written by Usman with compositions featuring the Piano, Strings and Glockenspiel to evoke the nature of Glass.
The soundtrack and books will be given as digital and physical rewards.
We also will hold invite events in Pakistan and New York, where you will get a chance to meet the amazing team behind the film.
The global team will also be sharing their video series: “Making The Glassworker“ for our online community to share the production experience.

Risks and challenges
The people that accomplish amazing things do so because they never give up on what they believe in.
We are aware of the obstacles we might face (mostly funding) and the production delays that might happen. However, we are not afraid to grow from these challenges.
As the director, I will be handling the team progress and will keep the backers updated on everything that is happening in the production process.
To everyone who funds this project: You are the reason everyone working on this film is able to stick to what we believe in. We value everyone’s input to the highest degree.
We invite you to come on this amazing journey with us and see ‘The Glassworker’ come to life.
