Manorkept is an adventure-based RPG with a focus on rich, character-driven storytelling, with a fresh spin on all the classic elements of a ghost story.
When childhood friends Milo and Adrienne set off into the forest to explore the haunted house of local legends, things quickly turn eerie. The girls find themselves caught in a house that’s more labyrinth than home and filled to the brim with ghosts - they’ll have only their wits, a flashlight, and each other to find their way through. Will they solve the mystery of the haunted manor of Morrigan?
- Set in the late nineties, Manorkept will feature rich, diverse environments for the player to explore.
- An engaging cast of characters, with positive and prevalent LGBT themes!
- Innovative puzzles designed to challenge the player while keeping gameplay fun.
- MYSTERY! GHOSTS? GHOST MYSTERIES!?
- An extensive, all-original soundtrack composed by Marcy Nabors.
- Release on PC and Mac!
Milo has a hundred things she hasn’t done, and a thousand things she’s left unfinished. She’s back in Morrigan after three long semesters of college, and it’s all exactly where she'd left it - right down to the breathtaking girl next door. The only missing piece to the perfect reunion is a perfect confession - as long as Milo can work up the courage to say it.
Adrienne has a lot of nice, safe, quiet, indoor things she’d rather be doing than spelunking in the creepy dark woods, with the creepy trees, and oh god did that creepy bush just move? Honestly, she should be back home- okay, wow, that was definitely an unnatural tree rustle. Milo’s lucky that she’s so brave and fearless and endearing, because if Adrienne was holding anyone else’s hand, she would have gone home already.
Teagan is our character artist, co-writer, full-time programmer, and part-time werewolf! She works hard to make sure everyone is organized and stays on schedule, lucky for her we're all hard workers.
Aurora is our background artist, co-writer and gameplay designer. Aurora wasn’t available to comment directly, but thanks to a series of cryptic notes passed through an interdimensional rift in space and time, we’re pretty sure she’s just taking a nap.
Mila, in between busy days managing the highly reclusive clown mafia, will be collaborating on character art and talksprites. They've already been a huge help so far!
Manorkept’s soundtrack will be composed by the talented accordionist, flutist, and music wizard Marcy Nabors. Her work as a musician and manager is featured on her Tumblr and the official Homestuck Volumes 9 and 10. We're looking forward to working with her to make Manorkept an unforgettable experience.
You can even hear some spooky tunes below, something a little closer to what she'll be doing for Manorkept!

James Roach, composer for the Homestuck Adventure Game Hiveswap, has generously provided us with two track themes that will be revised and featured in Manorkept.

We really want to make this game happen, and we couldn’t do it without you! With funds from this campaign, we’ll be able to pay our team members fairly and work full time on the game. All the money raised (after Kickstarter fees, taxes and merchandise distribution) will go directly into making the game the best it can be.
But first, where exactly is all this money going, anyway?
Backers who pledge “Spooky Tier” or above will get an 11” x 17” Kickstarter-exclusive print signed by one of our team members!
Backers who pledge the “Scary Tier” or above will get a stylish Kickstarter-exclusive unisex TSHIRT, available in sizes S - XXL. Let your pals know how excited you are for our game by sporting this shirt!
Backers who pledge the “Scary Tier” or above will also receive access to Manorkept’s demo, planned to release Summer 2017. You’ll get hands-on time with the game before it comes out, and have the chance to give feedback and help us improve gameplay. It won’t contain any major story spoilers, just a taste of what’s to come!
Risks and challenges
There are always challenges for game developers, but the best way to prevent them is by having an organized and efficient team. Our development team has worked on complicated projects before, to great success! We all hold a very high value to honesty and communication in investment, so we’ll be making a significant effort to keep our backers up-to-date with Manorkept’s progress and development!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
