FLOWERS is the third feature film from writer/director Phil Stevens.
An abstract, surreal horror film centering around six dead women waking up in the crawl space below their killer's house only to discover that they are trapped in their own limbo and purgatory. The house itself contains many rooms revealing hints and clues to their past lives and how they've come to end up where they are. One by one and alone, each girl is forced to accept their fate or remain in place, between the walls of a rotting house.
A movie that tells it's story in silence. Without any spoken dialog and surrounded in a cryptic and dark visual atmosphere, FLOWERS is a film that builds on the journey and not the destination.
As an illustrator of traditional art, I am an extremely visually driven filmmaker by nature. This project relies more on the images on screen and how you see them, rather than the aid of verbal dialog to tell the story. I believe we live in a time where movies come and go and then vanish into oblivion. There's nothing to hold onto anymore, no lingering thoughts or imprints. Remember when movies were treated as an art form? Fortunately, I do and I miss it, as I'm sure many of you do as well. FLOWERS was born in that afterthought, that frustration of an overly saturated movie market and the need to create a work of art on an even bigger canvas.
I believe this project to be very unique and different in the sense that it truly IS a return to the dark art-house underground horror film. This is NOT a film of gratuitous nudity and extreme violence. Nor is it a film of cheap tricks and thrills made to cash in on the masses for a quick buck. FLOWERS is something so much more, a whole other breed of independent horror film not to be easily swallowed. It is my personal art project, my dream and I believe in it wholeheartedly and with further funding, it WILL be realized as it was intended to be. Because hey, anything worth doing, is worthing doing right? Eh?
With the additional funds we raise on Kickstarter, this project will be able to launch into production come April without delay. Any and all donations, no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated. Your donation will cover additional make-up and effects, props and sets, crafts and services as well as covering the actual release of the film. I want to build and involve our audience from the very beginning to the very end. So I invite you, be apart of this project with me.

Risks and challenges
We have already invested our own money and resources into the development of this project. The fact remains that filmmaking is an expensive business! As soon we reach our Kickstarter goal of $1000, this will put us is in a better position to cover our additional production costs without delaying our shooting schedule (April - July) as well as the release date of the final film (currently set for November 2013).
To be honest, It is possible that we may become delayed in this process, for any number of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control despite our best efforts. You should take assurance from the fact that I've been around filmmaking and filmmakers all my life. I know how to orchestrate and complete a project as I did with my first two feature films, BELOW MAN and FRANK EDGE JR. The key to any success is always momentum, driving the vision forward and finding solutions to all issues that our thrown our way. Without this determination, passion, and experience, I would have never been able to come this far.
The Kickstarter community should know that whatever we plan, and whatever obstacles our thrown in our path, we are focused on our goals and passionate in honoring our commitment to our pledges to you. The more support we have, the stronger and more determined we become to make this happen. That's the bottom line.
We believe in clear and worthwhile communications through use of social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook to keep our fans updated. So while we might not be pestering you every five minutes with updates, you will ALWAYS be the first to know when we have some exciting and new developments. If we have to make any changes of direction, you will be kept fully informed.
We cannot make a firm guarantee to you that after a successful $1k raise, we will 100% be able to meet our April production start date and November release date. However, we can guarantee that as soon as we raise significant funds to make the film, we will do exactly that. We will strip away the fat accordingly, without compromising the film in anyway. The prerequisite to creation is creativity, not money. As a team we create, we find solutions, and we deliver on our promises. It's what we do best!
Being apart of this project from beginning to end with us will be a unique, exciting and rewarding experience on many levels, that much we do guarantee. To all, my humble THANK YOU.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
