Well, lately my minute hand keeps dropping to the bottom. Am trying to cutting of the last two inches off but it now definitely does not have as much bouncy graceful affect anymore. Sure wish you had tested the actual powder-coated hands at the thickness expected to avoid this problem. :-( At least I hope this stops the issue and the clock can actually work now...
This "fix" is too late for me. I threw mine away when it didn't work. The long hand couldn't make it round. The motor was too weak.
Great, thanks guys. Will get on to it soon and update. :)
Sorry to hear that you've encountered problem. I'll assist you until we solve this problem.
In the past couple of months we've received a few emails from other backers describing a similar problem. We checked it, and found out that it is caused because the minute hand is slightly too heavy for the movement. The root cause is probably the powder coating coloring - in some hands it got too thick, and changes the balance. I hope you can understand it is a new product's childhood disease..
There is an easy fix - trimming the long hand by only 2 inches should solve the problem.
The fastest and easiest solution is that you'll do it by yourself, using strong pliers (please make it carefully and hold the wire strongly, as some force should be applied, and the cut part can bounce).
Hi all, has anyone had issues with the clock? The minute hand keeps dropping off when it's in the 10,11, 12 position. I seems as though it cant take the weight?
Still not tired of watching this clock! :)
@Ryan Lndy - we sent you a private message.
I really like your clock guys, but a few days ago i was trying to fix it to my wall when the hour hand broke off. The brass weight side is still in tact but the hour pointer has snapped at the fulcrum.
What can i do about getting a replacement.?
I LOVE the clock and have it hung in my entryway, but despite fixing it as best as I could each morning when I leave for work, I come home from work each evening to discover that the minute hand has misbehaved. Either it ends up spinning freely and falls to the 6 position, loosens up until it gets askew enough that it becomes tangled with the hour hand, or it simply stops moving entirely (I suspect it's becoming askew and wedging itself against the hour hand's axle, which is preventing them both from moving, since it looks like everything is untangled and fine, but I can't hear the whirring of the clock when I put my ear close). The axle seems fine, it's just that the hand itself won't stay connected to the axle, despite my having applied some rather firm pressure.
I've tried the various fixes mentioned on the slip of paper, and they definitely helped with the initial setup and making sure things were untangled, but nothing seems to be able to fix the minute hand becoming loose on its own over time. Any tips or suggestions I might try?
Really, really cool clock.
This is one bloody amazing clock guys! :)
I I think you can trim it by 6". It would not hurt the balance, but the effect of the "falling" hands would be less dramatic.
Make sure to cut it with good pliers, and while doing so do not make pressure on the central ring.
If you do so send us picture :)
Got my clock and it looks great!
Quick question though, the wall i wanted to put it on is slightly too small for the long minute hand. Is it possible to trim that minute hand down about 6 inches or will that mess with the weighting on the opposite end?
Scott - The same thing happened with my numbers. I used a sharp knife to get between the paper remnants and the vinyl. I managed to salvage all of them.
speaking of numbers, i went to put up my clock and none of the numbers peeled off correctly. Each one came off with the paper stuck to it.
Thank you very much. The replacement clock has turned up in one piece. I have now hung it on the wall and it looks brilliant. I will send you a picture. Amazingly my wall colour is exactly the same as the base and the two look great together. It is like it was meant to be there! Thank you so much for a great design.
A quick question, is it possible to purchase more sets of numbers?
I got mine, haven't mounted it yet but it looks awesome!
Mine arrived in Vancouver this morning - all safe and sound - very well packaged - up on the wall and looking great.
Just got mine. Hands were a bit bent out of shape (as in against and rubbing on the base) and loose on the stem and I had to push them down or they just both spun to the bottom. I think I got it back to how its supposed to be. Gotta be honest, feels kind of cheap. Like something I'll find at Ikea or Ross for $20 some day soon. Still nice design. Just installed the battery and hung it. Will see how it does and report back.
@XD: Thanks! I will try that tonight.
Got mine! Might be the only lithe clock in China. It looks really elegant. Thank you!
@Amar: I FORCED mine in till it made a LOUD click. Don't drop anything!
Just got my clock over the weekend and it looks amazing! One problem I am having is getting a AA battery in the thing. Is it suppose to give that much resistance? Anyone else having the same problem?
Anyway to tone down the ticking noise?
@Koen Kummel We've just sent you a private message.
@Douglas Hanisch Thanks for letting us know about the battery. We're glad you're happy with the clock!
Had a few issues getting mine going. Had to tweak the hands so the counter weights didn't hang up. Also found that with a eneloop rechargeable battery the clock ran slow, but runs fine with an alkaline. All my other clocks with cheap quartz movements have no problem with the lower voltages of the rechargeables. I wonder why this one does. Regardless, I really like the clock, and am very happy with it.
Guys, have a problem with my Lithe clock.. it runs great for 23hours of the time.. however when it passes 8:10.. the large hand drops down to 8:30.. after that it will climb again.. there seems to be a glitch in the machanics of the clock. I've took it apart per written instructions in the box but this didn't help.. Please respond soonest how this can be resolved!
just got mine from the post office today - looks great !
i'll send you a pic soon
@Creator How is the fulfillment going?
@Ryosuke We had already printed the packing slips.. WITH "fragile" marked on them. :)
The reason shipping is delayed is to make sure no one gets it broken in pieces. The package is very sturdy.
Is it possible to put a "fragile" sticker on the packaging so that the courier companies will handle it with care? I am just worried that it might arrive in Sydney, Australia broken in pieces... I am suggesting this because I just received an item today that I backed in Kickstarter and to my surprise it got damaged... probably during transit.
Can't wait to get my clock - don't rush them out at the last moment guys, take your time to get them just right - just keep us updated :)
just picked up my clock from the Studio in Tel Aviv. It is fantastic. Looks very nice. Just love it.
The guys in the Studio are working very hard on shipping. As I understood, they suppose to ship it out in a few days.
I want to thanks guys from the StudioDV for great job. Good luck to everyone.
@Hennadii Nadolenko I just sent you a private message.
Is it possible to pick it up in Tel Aviv at your location? Saves you money on shipping. Just send me an address and approximate time to come. Thanks
@Koen Kummel We'd love to send them as soon as possible. Just a few more days of patience - we have everything ready except the packaging, which should arrive any day now.
Dying for an update here ..April passed, May is slipping through too...but still have a reservation for prime space on an empty spot on my wall :-(
@john shields Your clock is coming along, but we had some last minute delays with the shipping box. Hold on just a bit more. As we mentioned in the last update, all backers will get an email with the tracking information once their clock is on the way.
Tick tock - where is our clock?
yes - an update would be nice - can't wait to get it as i liked your first product and this looks just amazing
How are things going? Did you manage to get the clocks shipped out to the first 100 early birds? Does it still look like April is do-able for the rest of us? Hope things are going well!
@James-Ross Harrison No red, we have the deep orange color that looks red under certain lights.
@Tristan Just posted.
How about that photoshoot? Any news?
We scheduled a photo shoot for the various color combinations next Monday. His means the survey will be sent out by the end of next week.
Very quiet, any news?
@Amar Shah - Technically, its possible.
Being a designer, it is something I personally think makes the product look let appealing. We still want to discuss it for a few days, but we will let you know before the survey.
@Tristan - We plan to take the clock to a photo-shoot next week, to get the best out of the colors we chose and to make it easier to compare. This will also be done before the survey.
Is it possible to post all the different colors next to each other? I like to see them next to each other, just to be able to compare them in the same light and so.
Awesome update. Quick question on color combinations. Would it be possible to do multi color hands? One Orange, and One Blue for example?
