Stretch Goal #1: If we reach $30K...
By reaching $30k, it means more wiggle room in the budget, we can include more blood and sfx to deliver an enhanced visual flair to the film. We'll also be able to include a budget for distribution and marketing! That means Mandao can astral project onto screens worldwide!
Stretch Goal #2: If we reach $40K...
We get to include a bonus end credit scene and more days of filming. The more days we get for filming the more enhanced our production will be. We will also have more money to afford a kick-astral illustrated poster!
Stretch Goal #3: If we reach $50k or more...
We will film a stand alone short film involving the main characters of Mandao going on a mini adventure! Everyone gets paid a little better for all their hard work. We can also afford a 15-day shooting schedule (drools).
"Mandao Returns" is a feature-length supernatural comedy film. It's the sequel to the cult indie favorite,"Mandao of the Dead".
Mandao of the Dead
Mandao of the Dead is a supernatural comedy about the reclusive Jay Mandao who lives frugally off of his late father's cereal company royalties. He wants nothing more than to live in solitude, but is duped into taking in his adult nephew-in-law, Jackson.
As Halloween approaches, Jay finds out that he has the ability to astral project. Jay and Jackson are approached by a ghost who has a small window of time to reverse his death at the hands of Jackson's murderous ex-girlfriend.
Mandao Returns is the next chapter in a trilogy of films. This time, Mandao Returns takes place around Christmas. After abstaining from astral projecting, Jay Mandao's life starts to unravel. Jay's cousin Andy hatches a plan to steal money from the past after encountering some serious financial issues. To make matters worse, they encounter an evil ghost intent on possessing their bodies to live again. Jay, Jackson, Cousin Andy, and their cab driver Fer must team up to stop the entity. Will they succeed?

WE LOVE HORROR AND SCI-FI FILMS!
Mandao is the perfect blend of horror and sci-fi but also focuses on comedy and character development.
Writer/Director Scott Dunn created the characters Jay Mandao and his nephew Jackson when he was in high school. Since then, these characters kept creeping back into his writing. Scott was inspired by classics like Back to the Future, Insidious, Poltergeist, and buddy comedies like Bill & Ted. Finally, after 13 years, Scott found a way to utilize these characters and put them in an original story.
The potential of Mandao is limitless.
We liken Jay Mandao and his rag tag group of friends to the Scooby Doo gang. However, they are different in that they help people using astral projection and time travel. The sequel, Mandao Returns, solidifies this quirky group. We intend on making comic books that will expand on all the perilous adventures Jay Mandao and his team go on.
We. Are. Obsessed.
In the era of remakes and reboots, we want to give people something new and original.
We made the first film, Mandao of the Dead, as a proof of concept. We chose Kickstarter to show that we have a growing audience that is willing to invest in us. People who discover Mandao really love it and we want to deliver the next chapter to them.
We want to expand on this universe and tell a great story to our audience.
With YOUR help, we can accomplish this.
We know how to stretch a dollar.
Mandao Returns is our THIRD microbudget feature film, so we have the experience to complete and distribute a film on a small budget. Our minimum goal of $20,000 gets the film completed. Each dollar goes towards the film itself. We're not paying ourselves. Everyone on our team believes in this project and is willing to work hard to make it happen.
Here is a chart of the budget breakdown:
We know you're here to watch Mandao Returns when it's finished. However, we want to offer you some cool items to sweeten the deal! Check out the panel on the right with all our different perk tiers.

Risks and challenges
It is always difficult to make a full-length feature film with a small budget. However, this is our 3rd film working under time and budget constraints. We plan to build on our story by developing the characters and plot, but always keeping our budget in mind. Through the use of practical effects, camera tricks, and DIY ingenuity to give you the best film.
Once we have a successful campaign, we will immediately start our pre-production process and schedule filming for February 2020. Because we work with a small team, we are able to complete an entire film in 3-6 months and set it out to the world.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
