Historia is a Dark Fantasy Renaissance setting for the 5th Edition of the world's greatest roleplaying game that introduce the setting of Vesteria, a merciless land, full of intrigues and populated by anthropomorphic animals.
The characters will find themselves against the hardships and dangers of a feral and precarious world. The heroes of Historia will explore unknown lands, unravel plots and intrigue and will be forged by the fires of adventure.
Something ancient has been unearthed in the Pit and now the whole world wants a share!
Historia is born from the collaboration between Mirko Failoni (concept artist and illustrator for Vampire The Masquerade, Age of Sigmar, The One Ring, Pathfinder, Wraith The Oblivion, Lost Citadel and many others), Michele Paroli (author of Journey To Ragnarok, founder and lead designer of Mana Project Studio) and Matteo Pedroni (part of the game design team of Journey To Ragnarok and upcoming CMON Zombicide RPG).
Mana Project Studio, that brought you Journey to Ragnarok, is proud to present Historia, a supplement setting-rulebook for the 5th Edition (5e) of the world most famous roleplaying game.

Thousands of years ago, a few of the animal species living on Gea developed anthropomorphic characteristics such as opposable thumbs and human-like interests.
In the world of Historia, the characters play as characters from the continent of Vesteria, a land of ancient traditions and stratified culture, delving deep into the political turmoil caused by the discovery of relics of the past.
They shall venture in the continent, meeting living legends and shaping the politics of the kingdoms, or fighting corruption and brutal wars in an attempt to survive the day.
Faith is an immense power by itself. It is capable of uniting people under the banner of ideals, hopes and... fears. But it is when faith is not only an invisible and ethereal hold but power as superior as it is concrete, that whoever holds control of it holds absolute power. The theocracy of the Holy Kingdom is based on this foundation. A kingdom without a king. Where the crown is no longer necessary in the face of the unassailable power of the Church of Bones, where the noble vassals of Ducati and the Counties play a dangerous game: to move the pawns of power among the highest levels of the ecclesiastical structure in order to bring a member of his family, or an ally, to the highest level, that of the un-crown monarch who sits on the Chair of the Great Temple of the Sacred Citadel of Nocheburg, who alone holds the power to decide on the souls and body of the faithful subjects of the Holy Kingdom: the Keeper of the Bones, the supreme vertex of the ecclesiastical pyramid of the Church of Bones. The first lesson that every Keeper of the Bones learns is that anything that can ever threaten the principles and foundations of this system must be destroyed without a trace.
The Confederation of the Free Cities it’s the westernmost state of Vesteria, washed by the Great Waters on three of its sides, and formed by the political conjunction of various city-states and republics. The Free Cities elect a Confederate Governor to carry out a policy of balance. Montetorto, where the Great Alchemical Research Academy is located, Nova Marina, the city of explorers and with its unparalleled merchant and military fleet, the City of Winds with its magnificent works of technological ingenuity, are just some of the Great Confederate Cities that show how Commerce and Culture are the two pillars of the Confederation: or at least superficially. The battle for political control extends both externally towards the other nations of Vesteria, and internally between the various Confederate capitals. Espionage, treason, corruption, lies, and greed. These are the real ingredients of the breeding ground from which the flourishing Confederation of the Free Cities of Vesteria sprouts.
The Green Pit has made its history of being disputed between the neighboring nations, by which it is surrounded in the West and in the East. The Trench is a large expanse as lush as it is inhospitable, full of impervious mountains, large ancient forests, waterways, and an unpredictable climate. But the mountains hide large veins of minerals, the forests have the most majestic trees on the continent and the waterways reveal golden secrets. The climate and the difficulties of such an impervious territory, however, have prevented the Fossa from becoming a completely civilized nation. Only a few settlements, miles apart, have managed to prosper: the Great Mining Cities and the Floating City of Salso Nero. The Holy Kingdom and the Confederation have been in conflict since time immemorial between them to appropriate the resources of the Pit, or to prevent the other from appropriating them. But in the Heart of the Pit, naturally defended by the sharp rocks of the Thorn lies the greatest secret of this land, a place containing ancient wisdom and ancient remains able to overturn any belief on the Cross of Bones and the origin of the mysterious and powerful Relics, a place where the primordial magic of Vesteria is more powerful than ever, a place never discovered in millennia, until today, the Ossarium.
From the writing of San Mastodonte, which the Temple still considers apocryphal, the Book of Visions:
Each character in Historia belongs to an anthropomorphic animal species with its own characteristics, abilities and peculiarities.
Historia does not want to be a biology manual, and various authorial freedoms and interpretations have been taken to define categories and references.
When a player creates a character, he begins choosing its Order, between Theris, the mammals, or Avians, the birds. Then chooses its Familia, a grouping of similar Species that share some common traits, and then the Species itself, distinct by unique traits, abilities, and looks.
In Historia players can choose between different macro-races, called Familiae, from Theris, inspired by mammals, and Avians, inspired by birds. Familiae are divided into different Species, each one of which it is widely diversified.

Professions in Historia portray the growth of the character, how they fend for themselves and their place in the societal order. Professions grant new features through the levels, forming the base structure that tells characters and roles apart during fights, social encounters or explorations and can be combined together to offer interesting plot hooks. The characters, gathered by a common goal or a quirk of fate, will take on challenges, explore hostile lands, get involved with intrigue and plots or discover truths capable of rocking the world to its core.
Below you can find a temporary list of Historia professions and their archetypes.
- Alchemist (Iater, Philosopher, Vitalist)

In Vesteria, Factions play a key role as they work tirelessly to bind the world to their needs. Every Faction follows its own goals, beliefs and modus operandi, often forming long-lasting rivalries.
In particular, old and new feuds have been christened in blood in the Green Pit since the discovery of something ancient. In Historia, Factions follow a reputation system that allows characters to discover secret missions and gain unique rewards.
In the world of Historia war, intrigues, dark plots, and betrayals are daily bread for the people who live there.
Sometimes the enemy is imposing and obvious, but often the danger comes from those least expected, as well as the opponent is not always the strongest but the most influential.
That's why Historia will feature deep and characterized NPCs. They will be valuable allies, fearsome opponents, powerful and influential enemies, or mysterious and indecipherable characters.
To enhance the game experience and to satisfy the collectors, we are going to produce some treasures from the world of Historia!
What you see in the campaign is a mock-up of the Game Master Screen. The final design may change and will have a dedicated illustration by Antonio De Luca.
Born in Sicily, Antonio de Luca graduated in Painting and Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. He works as an Illustrator, Cartoonist, Storyboard Artist and Concept Artist with several international companies, like Warner Bros, Riot Games, Gameloft, Fantasy Flight, Mondadori, Bonelli Ed., and many others.
He is also a teacher of digital painting and character design at Genius Academy, and Idea Academy, both in Rome.
You can find some of his artworks here: https://www.artstation.com/antoniodeluca
As book lovers, we are proud to present you the Historia Deluxe Edition!
This variant edition of the rulebook, included in the Black Master, Keeper of the Bones, High Governor, Cross of Bones, and Saint pledge levels, and available as an add-on, will feature embossed and gold foil line-art design on a faux leather cover, with gold foil on the book edges.
One of our goals is to include a series of miniature sculpts in the Kickstarter campaign.
Daniele “Danko” Angelozzi (digital sculptor for Ludus Magnus, Kimera Miniature, Infinite Statue, Darkside Collectibles etc.) and Valerio Carbone (digital sculptor for Cthulhu Wars, Planet Apocalypse, Hyperspace for Petersen Games, Spyro Reignited Trilogy for Activision and many others) realized 3D sculpts for three characters; Muhur-Khan, Desmond and Torquato.
The sculptures have passed their first iteration phase and have been produced into a limited amount.
The miniatures will be delivered as a grey resin multi-part kit, with an heigh that varies between 2 and a half and 4 inches.
For the most demanding collectors, we are offering a hand-painted miniatures set by Fausto Palumbo, creator of Abyssoul.
The hand-painted miniature set is included in the Cross of Bones and Saint pledge levels.

If you already pledged for a reward tiers, but you're still interested in adding some extra items like other copies of the Hardback print on anything from the "Treasures" section, you can find the instructions and the price below.
An add-on is an optional item that can be added to a Kickstarter pledge without changing pledge levels. Please note that if you select some add-ons starting from a PDF only pledge, you'll be charged for shipping fees.
A backer, who has already pledged 42€ for the Hardcover + PDf reward tier, would then need to add 40€ to their pledge to claim the additional Hardcover print. The total would now be 82€.
In general, you should be able to select an add-on by doing the following:
- 1. Click the “Manage your Pledge” button on the project’s page.
- 2. Increase your pledge by the amount needed to claim the add-on(s).
- 3. Save your pledge. Do not change the tier that you originally pledged at.
You will choose your add-ons in the pledge manager after the end of the Kickstarter campaign. You will also be able to change your selection later in the pledge manager. You will receive a BackerKit survey to your Kickstarter mail that will introduce you to the pledge manager.
Please note: add-ons will increase the weight of your pledge and may increase the shipping costs. We work hard to keep these costs as low as possibile.
The Funding Goal of the Campaign intents to cover the production costs, including (mainly) illustrations, graphics, game design, translations and printing.
We decided to use any other funds to improve your gaming experience, upgrading the book and creating new adventures! We have great plans and we decided to show most of them at the beginning of the campaign, but we need your support to make this happen!
Share the project with your friends and on social media to help us grow Historia!
Besides our Team, there are many people without whom we wouldn't have had the strength to give this Project life.
It would be impossible to mention all the people who have supported us (and stood us!), but we take the opportunity to thank some of them: Andrea Guardino, Andrea Guglielmo, Andrea Lucca, Ariel Vittori, Federico Munari, Francesco Biglia, Franco Paroli, Jason Carl, Mathieu Saintout, Matteo Frisone, Mauro Alocci, Nicola DeGobbis.

Risks and challenges
The challenge is to share our passions creating adventures and settings for players and Game Masters as we are.
Mana Project Studio designs graphics, arts, and contents for many different publishing companies, but this time we want to make a statement with our new intellectual property.
With the Journey To Ragnarok experience, we grew a lot, and now we’re putting all our efforts in Historia, to design the best products we can!
We already have the lore and the settings, we designed the game features that are right now on playtest, and we created most of the graphics, producing some artworks.
We need you to fund Historia to upgrade the number of the artworks in the book, to translate and to print it.
Our only goal is to improve as more as possible the quality of the products, and the experience of the gamers!
We learned a lot from the logistics mistakes made with the Journey To Ragnarok campaign, and now we have a ready-to-go warehouse, agreement with the printing company (the one we're worked together for the last 3 years) and a shipping plan.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
