Shipping update + KNOWN ISSUES
Hooray! Many people have reported receiving their games!! This is very satisfying to me. Some pictures from Twitter:
Thanks to everyone who's been tweeting their pictures! In fact I will go one step further and say: Pictures of the game on a table are now COVERED. They're super great! BUT if you wanna go all next level:
Feel free to tweet some CREATIVE pictures – however you would like to define that – and I will pick some favorites and send you some bonus handwritten game cards!
Use #machineofdeath and if you want to cc me (@malki), so much the better! This contest, such as it is, is INDEFINITE, so don't worry if you haven't gotten your game just yet.
Meanwhile, shipping continues! It looks like it will stretch into next week. The deluxe boxes required special handling to avoid damage, so those I THINK have finally started to go out today.
Here are answers to some FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
• When I click on the tracking link in my confirmation email, it doesn't show the second line of my address. Is this an error?
It's an error in that webpage. I've brought it to the shipping company's attention. If you want to make double-sure we have your full address on the shipping label, feel free to email me, but I've checked for a dozen people today and in every case it was fine (the full address is indeed on the shipping label).
• If I mix up the cards from the various decks, can I tell them apart if I want to separate them again?
Yup! Every card has a serial number in the bottom right corner (on some of the Web Pals, it's on the bottom left). In addition, most of the death cards have an emblem in the bottom left corner. The serial numbers correspond to the box they came out of.
If you don't care about what cards go with what box, just ignore this! MIX 'EM ALL UP. WHO CARES
The star on some of the death cards indicates that we consider it a "hard" card – so you can incorporate or eliminate those cards at your discretion, depending on your group. Or even change the rules of how you deal with them, if you want.
• I ordered decks of blank cards and I got empty boxes??
This is a dumb confluence of two mistakes. The factory printed a bunch of extra boxes for the blank decks and threw them into the container "as a free bonus." The shipping company received the container and didn't know those were useless items. I should have thrown them into the sea.
Anyway, a few people got shipped that empty box instead of the full deck. If you got the empty box(es), email me right away and we'll re-ship you the correct deck.
ALSO WE HAVE A FORUM
For chatting about the game and related things! If you want to. I'm super big on the idea that this game is yours now – you can play it how you want, and if you figure out a way to make interacting with the cards more fun, the forum is a good place to tell the rest of us!
STILL TO COME: More gameplay videos! Now that people are getting the game, we can start getting into the meat of playing.
