Fancy Proof Box! Final PDF downloads! Animation! Web App!!

In today's video I show off the gorgeous proof of the game box from the printer! It's all coming together!!

• this game looks awesome

• it's gonna be super sweet and I couldn't be happier with the quality

• We have an update on the production schedule! The vastly increased complexity of the game, to say nothing of the huge number of orders, has stretched our production schedule past our initial estimates. I didn't want to give any revised dates until I was sure I had firm info from the manufacturer, but now I have the new date: NOVEMBER 15. This is when we should have the pallets in the warehouse and will begin shipping everything out.

I know it isn't August, but I had been the least bit worried that it wasn't going to make it this year at all, so I'm pleased that it's "only" November. If all goes as planned, everyone should have their stuff well before Christmas! I will post more updates with progress reports as I learn more.

To tide you over until then: backers, the password-protected download page HAS NOW BEEN UPDATED with downloads of all remaining print-and-play material: Intel cards, Webcomics Pals cards, and the Mission Book (targets & drawings created by the Webcomics Pals). So now you have EVERYTHING YOU NEED to play the game at home!

• I'm sorry to report that Phil Foglio ended up being unable to contribute cards to the game, so we filled his spot instead with Andrew Hussie "Sweet Bro & Hella Jeff" cards. Hopefully that is an okay replacement! Lots of people get those two confused anyway.

• Some of you have also asked if it's possible to get home-printable files for the various tuck boxes. This strikes me as a good idea (although your results will vary depending on the paper stock that you print the cards out on). I will put a pin in this idea for a future update!

• We haven't forgotten about the German editions of everything – the translation is plugging along (so many cards! sooo maaaany caaaards!!!) and I'll have news on that when it's ready.

• Thanks to the hard work of backer Maik Ploight, the Target Generating Web App Toolkit is now ready! You can load it on any mobile device, or just on your computer. The address is and you can even bookmark it on your phone to add an icon on your home screen! (On iOS, anyway. I assume you can do something similar on Android.)

The Toolkit will do the following for you: 1. Generate a target, complete with all specific details. 2. Generate prompts, if you prefer to make up your own target details, Mad Lib-style. 3. Run a countdown timer for you. 4. Play timer music, if you choose! (I demo it all in today's video.)

Right now we've got one timer music track loaded in, by MC Frontalot. Other musicians are hard at work on their own tracks, and we'll add them in (and offer them for you to download) just as soon as they're ready!

• If you'd like to manhandle (or womanhandle) the sassy, glossy, oh-so-silky prototype box in person, here's where I will be in the coming days and weeks:

July 29 – Toronto: Choose Your Own Book Launch! This Monday night, Ryan "Eisner-winning, NYT-bestselling author of Adventure Time" North and I will be holding side-by-side, competing book launch events for his choose-your-path Hamlet adaptation, To Be or Not To Be, and our new Machine of Death story collection, This Is How You Die. Fun times will abound! THIS IS MY PERSONAL GUARANTEE. Facebook invite here; more info is here!

Aug 15-18 – Indianapolis: GEN CON! I'll be showing off the demo copy and collecting pre-orders for the game. Booth 743.

Aug 30-Sept 2 – Seattle: PAX PRIME! I'll be boothing with the dudes behind Cards Against Humanity and Story War, and again, I'll be taking pre-orders. I'm talking with Kris about possibly doing a game demonstration as part of a panel as well – but nothing's firm so far. (Sadly I will not be at LoneStarCon in San Antonio this same weekend, as I had previously hoped I would. My clone didn't arrive in time.)

Sept 14-15 – Bethesda MD: SMALL PRESS EXPO! One of my favorite comic shows of the year. I will be behind a table. Maybe under it, for some of the time. We'll see.

It's a playtest video with me, Jordan, Nika, and Kris, and it features brand-new animation by Matt Bixler! Watch our fearless team of assassins attempt to take down A ROGUE ALPACA-BREEDING AIRSHIPMAN. The animated video was one of our stretch goals – hope you enjoy!

Okay that's it for now! Kickstarter backers, your downloads have been ADDED to the same password-protected page I sent you before (remember, the password is in all caps!). 'JUST THE TIP' backers, I'll send you a KS message. PayPal backers, watch for an email with the download info. Thanks everyone!!

P.S. If you were interested in the "bonus death cards in tins" option, please send me an email (dave at wondermark dot com) so I can make sure we have your preference recorded as we move through production.

P.P.S. Because it's a common question – if you need to change your shipping address, you can do so at any time by logging in at No need to message me! If you don't have a BackerKit login, then you can message me, OR write to

I'm going to try and see you in Bethesda MD and touch the box.

    3. David Malki ! 7-time creator on August 10, 2013

@Alan – the mission book comes with all copies of the game, yes. The blank mission log is different (but is included with the deluxe edition).

    4. Alan V on July 31, 2013

Is that mission book included in all base games, or is it something we'd need to add on (like the blank mission log)?

    5. Joseph Annunziata on July 29, 2013

i'm not going to be needy or anything, BUT my birthday is the 19th so it would be an awesome birthday surprise if i get mine for my birthday :P game is looking awesome, can't wait to receive my copy.

I will be certain to stop in and visit at PAX, since you are tabling with Cards Against Humanity! I hope the Kickstarter space is bigger this year, as it was crazy busy last year.

      Super exciting update!

I'm one of the musicians "hard at work" on timer music, and I'm totally stoked with that web app, it looks awesome!
I've got a first version ready (both mobile and common stereo mixes). Should I send some mp3's your way?

    9. David Malki ! 7-time creator on July 26, 2013

@Andy – We'll be adding more to the intel database over time, the backer contributions list is hundreds of entries long. We'll continue to add more as we have the time to pore over the data, it does take a little bit of time to standardize them.

@Steve – The wooden box is just big enough to hold all the cards, sleeved. If you don't sleeve your cards, this means that there's some empty space in the box. For future expansions, perhaps? Time will tell!

    10. Steve Hsu on July 26, 2013

Super excited about this - one quick question though, I believe I read somewhere that the wooden box is just the right size for the cards - what options do I have if I want to sleeve all the cards to protect them?

    11. Maik on July 26, 2013

@Andy: Thanks for the tip, I'm seeding Math.random() now. Although there are currently only 100 entries, so repeating will occur.
@Joshua: The app is caching all data and will work without internet connection. This should work even on Android phones (it works on my Galaxy S3).

This all looks AWESOME! I have to admit... I'm a huge Phil Foglio fan, so the "no Phil Foglio cards" info is a disappointment, but I'll live... AND play MOD.

    13. Chris on July 26, 2013

I am super excited for this. I'll have to make sure my Enforcer friends at PAX get over there and preorder a copy!

    14. Andy The Sane on July 26, 2013

Honestly, I'm blown away by what I've seen, this game looks so much better than I ever anticipated it to.

Well done to David and everyone involved :)

The App is nice, although Maik might want to look at seeding the randomiser, I had several names repeat as I was skipping through the different intels - it was great to recognise some of the names and intel we all contributed to.

      The game looks excellent!
And the full PnP is ready too!
Things like this make me happy that I work in a print room with high quality printers.

Thanks for the info. I gotta say that the game prototype looks amazing. Love the shiny accents to it.

Excellent substitution. Don't know the new guy, but anyone willing to help out and get us more cards is tops in my book!

    21. Shana Morris on July 25, 2013

OMG my Intel card is there! :') I'm so happy!

    22. David Malki ! 7-time creator on July 25, 2013

@Andy – whoops, I should have mentioned that. The deluxe boxes will all be finished by the time the guts for them (all the cards) arrive from China, so those orders will be packed and shipped at the same time as everyone else.

@Brendan – way back at the beginning of the campaign, before the Sidecar tier existed, the expansion cards were add-ons only, and they came in tins. When we integrated them as an official Kickstarter tier, we moved to tuck boxes, and changed the sizes of the cards so they would match the main game (previously they were smaller). Some people prefer the design of tins, so they're available if you want them instead of the tuck boxes; just know that those cards – the expansion death cards specifically – don't match the main game, size-wise.

@Joshua – just in trying it out on my phone, it looks like if you load the page and then turn off the internet, it still works so long as it's cached in your browser. Making it an official app as well is on our list of things to do in time, but the first priority was the web version.

Also curious about the deluxe version. Guess I might have to just wait til the book launch Monday to ask!

    24. Joshua Dushkewich on July 25, 2013

Do you have to be connected to the internet to use the intel generator thing? If so, is there any chance of it being turned into an android app that can be used offline instead?

    25. Brendan Hong on July 25, 2013

      Hey Dave,

I think I might have missed out on this, but what's the "bonus death cards in tins" option?

    26. Andy Satterthwaite on July 25, 2013

What's the ETA for the deluxe version to be ready? is that Nov 15th too?
