158 backers pledged $7,903 to help bring this project to life.

We've set up two stretch goals - and we've almost hit the first one already!

Today's Fact: Ducks can see nearly 340 degrees. That means they are excellent for reconnaissance missions and spy work. (Ducks Unlimited)

Stretch Goal Time!

Now that we're fully backed (thank you again!) we have set up two stretch goals.

$5,000: A sticker sheet for anyone that bought the book!

When we hit $5,000, everyone that backed us at the $30 book level and above will receive one 5.125" x 7.75" sticker sheet! They are kiss cut stickers that should work nicely on sketchbooks, laptops, and friends.

We're only about 5 books away from hitting this goal!

$7,500: A coloring book for anyone that bought the book!

When we reach $7,500, everyone that backed us at the $30 book level and above will receive one coloring book! We will get the Coloring Sheets PDF printed, bound, and are giving it a full color cover.

You all helped us get this far, so if you want to get these items, keep on sharing the project!

Animal Artist Appreciation: Charley Harper

Charley Harper's work can be seen in prints, fabrics, and on decorative items in many of today's households.

Much of his early work was done for Ford Times, including a series of bird illustrations and silkscreen prints in 1954. (A Charley Harper Retrospective, part II). His natural, yet simplified, style lead to The Golden Book of Biology in 1960.

"The 99-page text included hundreds (or thousands if you consider each paste-up element) of gouache paintings. In addition to his signature nature scenes, Charley illustrated anatomy, cell biology, ecology, evolution, genetics, histology, the history of science, microbiology, physiology, even some astrophysics." - A Charley Harper Retrospective, part IV

The book is out of print, which is a real shame. Charley Harper's style paired with the scientific writing creates an easy to grasp and engaging way to learn about scientific biological concepts. Hopefully someone will swoop in and get this back out in to the world in an affordable manner.

See you next update!
