TerraSphere Zero is a water based terrarium that cleans and feeds itself. A beautiful microcosm that takes very little work to set up and can last for years with little to no maintenance.
We've spent the past year creating an all in one blend of pH water conditioner made from sea salts, blue-green algae and dormant shrimp. Just add one vial to every 16 oz. of water to start the cycle. The hand-blown glass vessel is specially made to allow slight air exchange while minimizing water evaporation.
Watch your tiny world come to life. The dormant shrimp hatch in 2-3 days and the starter vial contains enough algae to get the self-sustaining process started.
We created a collection of living terrarium kits to compliment the TerraSphere Zero. Another first for us is shipping live plant kits. We currently are limited to shipping plants separately from kits but with your support we'll be able to build our own greenhouse workshop and create packaging that protects our delicate air plants and succulents.
Due to US shipping rules, we can only ship live plants within the continental 48 US states. That's another reason why we're excited about the TerraSphere Zero, everything in it is dormant so we can ship it anywhere in the world.
To pre-order the TerraSphere Zero or any of the rewards, simply back this project.
Can't decide on which kit to get? You can only choose one reward level. If you'd like to order more than one reward, simply add them by increasing your pledge by the amount of each additional kit. Make sure to add shipping for each item if it applies.
Gifts and shipping to multiple addresses?
Sure, we can do that. Just let us know when the campaign ends and we'll make shipping arrangements for you. Just be sure to include the shipping fees for each item, if any.
We'll collect your shipping info when our project ends and begin shipping end of May.
Kickstarter is where we got our start a year and a half ago. We're passionate about DIY, and started teaching workshops on the weekends for fun. Our side project became so popular that we decided to package our best projects into DIY kits and with your help on Kickstarter we were able to turn our idea into a company we now call MakersKit.
We're ready to grow even more, and need your help to launch our new living kits as well as getting our newest book published.
We currently ship live plants separately from our kits. At the end of this campaign, we'll be able to ship them together. That's exciting, because it means you'll be able to create your own custom DIY kits.
We just finished writing our new book, Terrariums - A Complete Guide that features our very best terrarium projects. It's 100 pages of full-color photos, tutorials and tips on creating your own unique terrariums at home. Every reward over $28 includes a copy.
With optional USB LED Light
Risks and challenges
This is MakersKit's 3rd Kickstarter project. Thanks to your help, we've got some great experience in the past year and a half and have created some pretty awesome products we're proud of. We've also ran into a lot of challenges, which has helped us grow and become a stronger team and company.
Since launching MakersKit, we have taught thousands of workshops and created even more DIY kits that are now sold all over the world. We need your backing for our latest project to take off and we pledge to provide the utmost transparency and care for you, our backers.
Forecasting & Supply Chain Risk
Although we're still a fairly small team, we're now experienced in the risks involved with creating new products. We have everything in place, from sourcing to production and shipping. All we need is the initial group of minimum orders to get things going at an affordable price, the more we're able to make from the start the lower we can make the final retail price, thus leading to the success of our product launch.
