About
I’m raising funds to launch Slip eco lube.
This will help solve the environmental and health problem of aerosol lubricants – which people currently use in their gardens and around their children.
The problem is these products contain petrochemicals and PTFE, which makes a carcinogen when it's made. Just read the labels of most lubricants and you’ll see they’re bad for your health, and the environment.
I’ve developed Slip eco lube as a solution to this. I have a background in lubricant technology and a keen interest in the environment.
The Slip lubricant formula protects metal from rust, it reduces friction and repels water. However, it’s made from ingredients extracted from plants.
It’s sustainably sourced and palm oil free, without petrochemicals or PTFE.
On a bicycle chain Slip eco lube gives in excess of 125 miles between applications and is proven to stop squeaky door hinges and work in hundreds of ways, from toys to tools, from lubing locks to polishing sun damaged plastics to make them look new.
Gardening tools especially benefit from Slip – it prevents rust and can even nourish and protect wood handles.
And being 100% biodegradable, it won't pollute your soil or garden pond.
The product prototypes look stylish, and the logo is designed with my favourite uses built into it. The word ‘SLIP’ includes images of a toy train, bike parts, a trolley wheel, sewing machine tools and many other things that can be lubricated.
To ensure the packaging is eco-friendly, I will commission bottles made from 100% recycled plastic. This helps ‘close the loop’. Bottles made from recycled plastic need less CO2 to produce, no oil exploration and lead to less plastic being sent to landfill – by creating a market force for recycled plastic.
Rather than finding the cheapest country with the lowest labour and environmental standards, Slip eco lube will be manufactured here in the United Kingdom, the green way.

Risks and challenges
I’ve got a manufacturing partner lined up here in Britain which can bottle the product.
I’ve also sourced a suitable bottle and cap as shown in the video which works really well for the Slip eco lube formula.
The company that makes these can make them from recycled plastic, and can do so for a price that works.
One challenge is the very large minimum order quantity, hence the need for this Kickstarter!
The lead time on getting the recycled plastic bottles made is 1 month, the labels will be printed within two weeks of the Kickstarter target being met. The factory lined up will be able to produce the finished product within 2-3 weeks of receiving the bottles.
I really do plan on this running smoothly, with the first production run of Slip eco lube ready for everyone in early May.
The 200ml bottle will last for ages, but is quite cheap to post.
This is going to be fun, I look forward to you giving us a Kickstarter to make Slip eco lube a reality.
