Succubus: Struggle for the City
A tabletop card game for 2-8 players, using a Succubus deck and a poker deck, designed by Lester Smith
In Succubus: Struggle for the City, players take the role of factions fighting for control of corporations and gangs in a modern metropolis. Game play builds upon familiar core concepts of Rummy, though incorporating Succubus cards versus mortal cards, and employing the hidden symbols of Succubus to attack and defend their melds. Play the right cards, and you can steal a meld from another player—or destroy it entirely.
Lester Smith is the multiple Origins-award-winning game designer of Dragon Dice, the Dark Conspiracy role-playing game, and recent Kickstarter card game successes Invasion of the Saucer People, Wolf Man’s Curse, and the Monster Con series. He is also president of Popcorn Press, publishers of an annual Halloween collection of poetry and fiction, including last October’s Cthulhu Haiku.
Succubus: The Reborn is a deck of vampire themed playing cards designed by the creative mind behind the legendary World of Darkness series of role playing games, including Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Changeling: The Dreaming, and many others, but it is also something more. It is a new take on a classic game device: cards.
First and foremost it is a custom deck of playing cards printed at the highest
possible quality by the world leader in cards, The United States Playing Card
Company, makers of Bicycle and Bee cards. Each card is lavishly illustrated and carefully designed to illustrate the theme. And each deck, and all of the components offered in this Kickstarter, are made in the United States.
Second, each card bears a symbol which represent the classic game of Rock, Paper, Scissors and even Bomb, which makes the Succubus: the Reborn deck the premier deck to own for fans of Live Action Role Playing Games.
Finally, and most intriguingly, each card in the deck has at least one or more unique (and sometimes hidden) symbols, which allow it to be used in a unique party game for players clever and sensible.
Succubus is a unique game designed to turn a dull get together into an exciting high-stakes game of social poker. The game requires a “Dealer” who runs the game, and knows the rules, which are simple. The players are Vampires who are members of four great Lineages (teams) represented by the four card suits.
The one rule that the
players need to know is that the game is played by convincing, or
coercing, other players to trade cards with them in order to get the best
possible Poker hand. They need to work together as a team to succeed, but each is vying to be Captain of the team. To win,
players must trick, lie, bribe, and outwit the other players into giving them
the cards that they need.
There are three acts: in each, players engage in open trading, challenges, and closed trading among their teammates. At the end of each act there will be a Captain's Table. At the Captain's Table the player from each team with the highest card of their teams suit will come together and play a single hand of poker. There is a final confrontation and the Lineage whose Captain won the final Captain's Table will take the victory and seize control of the night.

Party Poker RPG is not just one game, it is a game system. Just as Role Playing Games (RPG's) often sport one core rules set with many different possible play settings, so too does Party Poker RPG. In Party Poker RPG you and your friends utilize a custom deck of high quality playing cards as the core component in a fun to play, easy to learn, hard to quit party game. The element that makes Party Poker RPG different from other games which utilize cards is that our cards combine the strategic elements of board games, with the play acting elements of a Live Action Role Playing Game (LARP), and the competitive head-to-head action of a multiplayer video or computer game. This is our first release in the Party Poker RPG lineup, coming soon are Zombie, Werewolf, Wiz-School, and Mafia themed decks and games.
For players of Live Action Vampire RPGs we hope that these decks and game will make it easier to recruit new players, luring them in with simple, easy to learn rules and low stress team play.
If you have more than 30 players you will need assistant Dealers and, unless you live in a mansion, a location to play other than your home. Party Poker RPG is an ideal convention event because of it accessibility and speed of play.

Sandro is originally from Latvia, and is a non-gamer, but has played, and thoroughly enjoyed, Succubus.
Logan Horseford has over four decades of gaming experience, including NERO and long running Epic Cthulhu podcast, and is a globetrotting backpacker with no permanent residence. He is a prolific idea monkey and bouncing board who works closely with Mark on playtesting and design.

It is said that Lilith was Adam's first wife. Proud, and head-strong she rebuked Adam, left the Garden of Eden, and refused to return. Lilith was betrothed to the Archangel Samael and in so doing became a Succubus. But she was not alone, for Samael had four brides: Lilith the Mother of Monsters, Agrat the Queen of Deception, Naamah the Angel of Idolatry, and Eisheth the Devil’s Handmaiden. It is from the lines of these Demon Brides that the four Lineages of the Reborn began… the Vampires.
♢ Marquisi: The Paramount
You trade in money, power and control, all while clinging to an old world sense of social protocol and decorum. Dominance and influence are the calling cards of the sons and daughters of Naamah. They value precision and pride above all else, and are deeply obsessed with a system of highly ritualized social protocols which they refer to as the Pro Forma. They hate the Copeadora and consider them their fiercest enemy.
♡ Copeadora: The Beautiful
Perpetually entangled in scandal and intrigue you scorn all who are outside your inner circle, but are charming manipulators. These children of Agrat value the status afforded them by mingling and feeding amongst the upper echelons of High Society. They are frequently embroiled in some manner of social or political intrigue, but they bear a terrible secret… millennia of depravity and inhuman deeds have cursed the Copeadora. They despise the Marquisi for their crass vulgarity.
♣ Bas-Bazouk: The Outlaws
Aggressive and volatile renegades, you are the feared enforcers and gangsters of the Vampire world. Ever Eisheth’s children, years of their mothers wrath and life on the mean streets have created deep seated rage within them. Violent criminals and hit-men fill there ranks, they are the brutal realists of Reborn society. They loathe and despise the Profugos.
♠ Profugos: The Forlorn
Dark and mysterious, outcasts and misfits, you are the brooding masters of secrets and arcane lore. The Profugos are societal outcasts and are considered less than the other Reborn. Lilith was created a human. She fell from God’s grace and was transfigured into a Succubus by Samael. The transfiguration scourged her soul from her body … a trait which she passes on to each of her progeny. The Bas-Basouk are their mortal enemies.
"God kills without restraint or regret, and so do we.
When I leave this endless night and blighted earth then at last shall I know the same bloody kiss granted you now.
I love all of it, I love nothing."

Risks and challenges
At this point we have learned quite a lot about the Kickstarter process, especially fulfillment date estimates. USPCC is thoroughly familiar with the Kickstarter process, and has made no bones whatsoever about shipping dates and such. We have done our absolute best to provide realistic shipping costs through research and consulting with other successful Kickstarters.
There are always risks involved with any Kickstarter (production delays, illnesses, shipping problems, etc), but we believe that we have taken what steps we can to get a step ahead of such issues.
Because we are printing in the USA and are located so close to the plant we are very confident we can get this product out within 2-3 months.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
