Welcome to Dragon Reach...
...the bustling new frontier settlement in the Realm of Smiteros. The zone portals have just opened, and as we speak the first heroes are braving the Dungeon in search of fame, glory, and level-ups. Besieged monsters lurk on the outskirts of town looking for opportunities to gear themselves up against their new foes. For you, this means only one thing: PROFIT!
Master the Art of the Swindle
You've got limited time to make as many Vorpal Pieces (VPs) as you can before the Heroes battle the Boss and move on to the next town.
- Trash the Treasures, then earn Cash from the Trash. Buy magic items and gems from the Heroes. Smash them into raw materials! Use those materials to craft powerful Artifacts to sell to the dungeon's inhabitants.
- Get 'em Coming and Going. Spend your gold buying loot from the Heroes, then get your gold back by selling them potions and other useless crap.
- Scam to your Advantage. Use Scam cards like Bait and Switch and Sleight of Hand to manipulate the market and get an edge over your opponents.
- Make your Mark. Level up your Crafting Mastery and specialize in specific crafting materials for maximum prestige and profit.
Heroes Welcome is a 60-90 minute game for 2-5 players, aged 14 and up.
Kickbacks Expansion (FREE to KS Backers! $10 Value!!)
The Heroes Welcome: Kickbacks Expansion expands on the Eager Customer marketplace. As time passes, each customer offers a special incentive to Goblins for crafting their artifacts. Some are extra payments, but some are favors which will impact the rest of play. The Kickbacks Expansion will not be included in the retail version of the game. This $10 Expansion is free to all Kickstarter backers.
This card entitles you to make the first move in any game of Heroes Welcome that you play.
Overview of a Turn
On your turn, you choose ONE of the following actions:
> Run a Shop: Move the Heroes to an adjacent open shop. Run a shift at that shop, which will allow you to buy and sell from the Heroes. When you're done, put a "closed" sign on the shop. It can't be used by any other player this round.
> Visit a Guild: Pick an open Guild and use its action. Guilds are special locations that the Heroes don't visit. Each one provides a special game action, like increasing your crafting skills, or adding a new shop to the city. Like shops, each guild can only be used by one player each round.
> Craft for a Monster: Head over to the workshop to smash your loot into raw materials and craft an artifact for an eager customer. As soon as you're done, the monster will head back to the dungeon to fight the Heroes. This is where the real money is!
> Call for Round End: Send the Heroes back to the dungeon to get more loot. Other players can veto this action to keep the round going, but only if they are willing to bribe you with loot...

Risks and challenges
Heroes Welcome: Merchants of Dragon Reach is well tested and balanced. The graphic design is near complete and the card art is final. Box and instructions are near final and we have been working closely with our printer. We are continuing to fine tune the gameplay experience and some iconography as we go.
There are inherent risks whenever undertaking a project as complex and large as producing and distributing a board game, but Ed Baraf has now run many successful Kickstarters and delivered their games. We've gone out of our way to surround ourselves with experienced board game developers, distributors, and people who have run and launched successful Kickstarters. This team of friends has been exceedingly supportive and we're sure they will help as we hit any upcoming bumps in the road. And there are bumps. Strikes, shortages, shipping delays are all hard to predict.
Most importantly, if something does go wrong, we will keep everyone in the loop as the project moves forward and comes to market. This game will exist because you all will have made it happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
