Magnetic Eye Records will be dividing the funds raised in this campaign equally between both releases. The $1,300 raised towards the Origami Horses record will assist with the costs associated with pressing 250 copies of 180g vinyl. For this limited edition first pressing of Origami Horses "Trashola" we will be releasing 125 copies on a deep purple colored vinyl LP and 125 copies on a milky clear with a purple haze finish. These records will look and sound amazing! The band really has delivered a fantastic debut.
With Boston's stoner rock giants Summoner we don't have to say much about them as they are internationally known and loved. Summoner's 2012 debut titled "Phoenix" received international acclaim and landed on many top 10 lists of 2012.
At this time the record is being mixed and mastered by the band and is scheduled to be finished this week. The money raised in this campaign will go directly to the pressing costs of this limited edition follow up to "Phoenix".
300 copies of Summoner's "Atlantian" with 3 variant configurations will be released this fall. We are keeping tight wraps on track listing, vinyl offerings and many of the details of this record until the release so you will have to be patient! As you might have noticed we have been willing and have shared the beautiful cover art illustrated by Alyssa Mocere.
Please check out the reward tiers and pledge as much as you possibly can and as often as possible. Also we are really relying on you to help spread the word and help keep the bands and the label alive and well. Releasing the most beautiful vinyl is not cheap, nor is working with the best bands and delivering these amazing records year after year on a shoestring budget with a small staff. We do it because we LOVE MUSIC. We appreciate your support. Thank you!
Risks and challenges
Magnetic Eye Records has been releasing music since 2011. The risks and challenges, we eat them for breakfast every day. We have had 3 successful KICKSTARTERS (although our Claymation "Mourning Rituals" campaign did go over budget and needed to downgrade from a 2XLP down to a single LP - which should be available in a few weeks as the test pressings are arriving this week) and we continue and will continue to bring you the most beautiful and amazing records for bands from all over the world year after year no matter what.
And although MER and our artists do overcome adversity there are real risks and challenges. As mentioned the Claymation "Mourning Rituals" is slated to start shipping to backers in mid August. One of the biggest difficulties that campaign experienced was the increase in shipping costs had greatly increased label expenses while also discouraging international customers from making vinyl purchases. International shipping rates jumped from ~$12.00 to $18.90, this increase caused us to reevaluate expenses and release details in order to keep the label viable and releasing records.
With that said, we stress that this $2,600.00 is an important part of us bringing you the highest quality vinyl releases in 2013 and 2014. PLEASE GIVE YOUR SUPPORT AND PRE-ORDER ONE OR BOTH OF THIS GREAT RECORDS. THANK YOU!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
