Magnetic Eye Records continues our REDUX release series, in which we choose an iconic album and invite an assortment of fantastic bands to re-imagine and cover its songs from end to end. Our first was ELECTRIC LADYLAND [REDUX], with bands like Earthless, All Them Witches, Mothership, Summoner, Wo Fat and Elephant Tree paying heed to the godfather of guitar gods, Jimi Hendrix. This first installment in our REDUX series ruled. We worked with artists and illustrators such as Caitlin Hackett, Dale Sarok and David Paul Seymour who all contributed visual art to the project. Here are some sights and sounds from that release.

For our 3rd installment we are taking on one of the most ambitious projects we could imagine, Pink Floyd's The Wall in full. The Wall is a 26 track album with a runtime of 121 minutes, making this our largest project to date. As this kickstarter campaign continues, we will release further details on bands and contributing artists and the members of our project team. We certainly cannot do this alone and need your full support!
We have already publicly announced that we have partnered again with David Paul Seymour, and he will be providing the cover art and layout for the project. Some of you may be aware that Magnetic Eye Records has worked with David many times on album art and label merchandise, and we are very involved with David and Tim Granda on their upcoming animated film, "The Planet of Doom." You can visit their successfully funded Kickstarter campaign for the film at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theplanetofdoom/the-planet-of-doom-an-animated-tale-of-metal-and-a

Confirmed Bands (Song Selections Will Roll Out Shortly As Well):
#1 SOLACE - Incredibly excited to have our longtime friends from Jersey kicking things off by getting on board. You may remember Solace's unforgettable albums "Further," "13" and "A.D." - and if you do, you know they are going to decimate their version of a Pink Floyd original. What a way to begin!
Uh, in case you don't know this founding band from the underground riff-rock scene, here is one of their classic tunes:
#2 WORSHIPPER (TeePee Records) - Damn! These guys rule. In case you've not had the opportunity to hear this great band before now, you can stream their debut album Shadow Hymns in full below, and start getting excited about what they'll bring to this undertaking!
#3 SUMMONER - It may not come as a surprise, but with Summoner being one of the pillars upon which Magnetic Eye was built, you know there was no way this project was coming together without their majestic psych-metal glory. Oh, and did we mention they have a new album coming in the first half of 2017 as well? Here's a little taste of what Summoner does for your aural and visual enjoyment...
#4 MOS GENERATOR - Prolific, forward-thinking, quasi-legendary... you can say many things about Tony Reed's endlessly boundary-pushing outfit, but the main thing to say right now is that what they'll do with a Pink Floyd classic is something we can't wait to hear. Cheers to Tony and co. for their enthusiasm to jump on board!
#5 THE SLIM KINGS - Growing up next door to Liberty DeVitto gave Magnetic Eye's founder many things, including a firsthand look at the career and talent of a true music industry lifer. After numerous decades drumming for the likes of Billy Joel, Karen Carpenter, Stevie Nicks, and Rick Wakeman, DeVitto's current outfit The Slim Kings steps to the plate to show what monster musicianship and unparalleled experience can bring to a Pink Floyd classic.
#6 YEAR OF THE COBRA - Since their inception two years ago, this Seattle-based TWO-PIECE has been on the rise, making converts and fielding festival invitations around the world, especially following the release of their Billy Anderson-produced 2016 debut full-length. We can only guess how their stripped-down power will translate to Pink Floyd's carefully-layered arrangements... but we're excited to hear the result!
#7 DOMKRAFT - One of Pink Floyd's rare talents was being able to blend hopefulness with a bleak view of the future... and there's no one we know with a better handle on a bleak view of the future than Domkraft. This band was one of our biggest surprise hits of 2016, and we're anxious to hear them decimate and recreate Floyd with their post-apocalyptic space-doom ethic.
#8 SERGEANT THUNDERHOOF - Fiercely driven and proudly independent, these guys are an explosive, blistering cosmic riff-rock outfit from the U.K. If you don't know them, let us just say that they've earned their seat at this table through an impressive run of stellar self-releases undertaken through crowdfunding and sheer will with no label support whatsoever. That takes balls and street cred, and we admire the hell out of it. Welcome to the party, Sergeant!
#9 THE ULTRA ELECTRIC MEGA GALACTIC - What do I need to say about this band that isn't immediately communicated by the following: "Founded by legendary psychedelic guitar wizard ED MUNDELL, best known for 18 years and 7 albums as the lead guitar master of legendary cosmic rock icons MONSTER MAGNET and founder of THE ATOMIC BITCHWAX." Right on! Incredibly thrilled to welcome Ed's new outfit to the party and hear what their stratosphere-shredding space-riff heroics bring to the Floyd blueprint... guaranteed to shred!
#10 GHASTLY SOUND - The newest addition to the Magnetic Eye Records stable has something to prove, so we wasted no time confirming that, as Floyd fans, their guitarless, volume-driven energy would certainly have a slot on this project. What can we expect? Between TJ's bass-disguised-as-every-instrument-in-the-band wizardry and Tyler's soaring, searing, melt-your-heart-then-shatter-your-ears vocals, we frankly have no idea... we just know it's gonna be fantastic.
#11 MAMMOTH WEED WIZARD BASTARD - Demolishing instrumental power meets delicate, angelic vocal melodies. We can hardly imagine a band better suited to dramatically re-imagine Floyd than this monolithic U.K. outfit. Excited yet? Check out this sample of what Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard has on offer and you'll see why you should be.
#12 LOW FLYING HAWKS - Led by multi-instrumentalists EHA and AAL, and featuring collaborators Trevor Dunn (Mr Bungle, Melvins) and Dale Crover (Melvins, Nirvana) on drums, LFH offers a mix of psychedelic shoe-gaze, noise-rock, and seismic drone. One of the most distinctive outfits in the Magnetic Eye stable, we couldn't wait to confirm their slot on this project, as their lysergic darkness and echoing post-rock disorder is certain to obliterate all conceptions of what a Pink Floyd composition might be. Prepare to be sucked in!
#13 GREENLEAF - Holy frickin' moley. Yup, you read that right - the mighty and mindblowing Greenleaf, led by riff-rock lifer Tommi Holappa and vocal genius Arvid Jonsson, have just raised the bar on this project. What does this mean? Probably the coolest hybrid of Pink Floyd and Swedish fuzz ever. If you know Greenleaf, you know what a huge deal it is to have them on board. If not, watch the video below, let them blow your head off, and then thank us for securing such an amazing addition to an already incredible artist lineup. Grateful to the gods of volume... and utterly pumped!
#14 SASQUATCH - Despite whatever you may have heard, Sasquatch is not only still active, they're ramping up for a pretty huge 2017. That made this the perfect time to tap one of our favorite balls-out heavy rock purveyors to step up to the plate for a track on The Wall [Redux]. Once again, we find ourselves wondering what the hell this left field pairing might sound like; then we answer ourselves that if it's Sasquatch, it's guaranteed to rock... which is really all that matters.
#15 PALLBEARER - "Pallbearer is an American doom metal band from Little Rock, Arkansas, formed in 2008." That's what Wikipedia says, but we know this is a bigger deal than that. The gods of heaviness are smiling down on this project, it seems, anxious to see and hear what some of the darkest and most massive bands out there today will do with the music of Pink Floyd. Utterly beyond thrilled to welcome a band that Spin, Pitchfork and NPR upheld as one of the best, and ready for them to tap into the darkest underbelly of what Pink Floyd tried to do. YES!!!
#16 MARS RED SKY - Have you ever heard that a band was covering another artist and it just resonated? As in, 'Wow, that is exactly the band who should be covering that song.' When we first pitched Mars Red Sky on this project, they responded enthusiastically and proposed a song... and when we heard their idea, we knew their mind-expanding blend of cosmic, astral-projecting space-doom would be the only thing that could possibly add something to an already perfect composition. Thrilled beyond words to welcome them to the project!!!
#17 YAWNING MAN - This band's name has lived in the consciousness of heavy music fans for years. We didn't even need to hear them, we just knew they were the originators of the desert generator parties that were so formative for bands like Kyuss and Fu Manchu... what else did we need? As it turns out, this band brings exactly what we need to this project: stellar, boundary-pushing, semi-psychedelic (at times) musicianship... you know, kind of like Pink Floyd sometimes did. We are humbled and grateful to welcome Gary Arce, Mario Lalli and company to this project, and cannot wait to see and hear what they'll do.
#18 ASG - Massive volume. Blistering riffs. Soaring, otherworldly vocals. Such a great combo, yet so elusive... but one band has perfected it. We are personally such huge fans of ASG that we may actually retire after being able to involve them in this incredible project. There really is nothing we can say that isn't better communicated by listening, if you don't already know why this is such a BIG DEAL. Hell friggin' yes.
#19 RUBY THE HATCHET - One of the best things about a project of this nature is to offer an entirely different angle on what's familiar. With that in mind, the chance to involve Ruby the Hatchet was one we couldn't pass up. The combination of their ballsy guitars and thunderous rhythm section coasting beneath alluring yet powerful female vocals distinguishes them from almost everything else out there, which means they'll almost surely transform Pink Floyd into something new as well. This band's massive contribution to an already titanic project takes it up yet another level... and from where we are now, there can't be many levels left!
#20 THE MELVINS - Period.
#21 MARK LANEGAN - Unbelievable, and truly one of the most significant and distinctive singers of our time, we are beyond giddy to be able to include such a formidable force in modern music on this project. He is the former singer of Screaming Trees, an intermittent Queens of the Stone Age / Gutter Twins / Desert Sessions member, and frequent collaborator across a huge swath of styles and genres. His gravelly voice character-filled voice brings wisdom and gravitas to everything he sings. And now he'll be singing Pink Floyd for all of us. Absolutely floored!
#22 Open Hand - Grunge, post-grunge, stoner rock, emocore, and all the Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, and Nirvana worship that comes with those scenes are big influences on the sound of Open Hand, along with a surprising touch of prog, thanks in no small part to Justin Isham's longtime love of King Crimson, early Genesis, and Robert Fripp.
#23 Noveller - Solo Los Angeles based guitarist Sarah Lipstate, performing under the name Noveller, fresh off touring with Iggy Pop as his opening act during the Post Pop Depression tour is confirmed to be contributing to the Wall. Sarah tells us she is collaborating with Fred Sablan, THE Fred Sablan! and that makes her joining the album even more exciting.
