It is time to select a new coven leader. But how? By doing what witches do best, of course: HEXING, GARDENING, and POTION BREWING! Break out your CAULDRONS because it is time to play CAULDRON: BUBBLE AND BOIL!
The game is nearly ready to go to the printers but in order to do so, CAULDRON: BUBBLE AND BOIL NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!
Cauldron: Bubble and Boil is a game for 2-4 players where you compete to brew the most valuable potions to become leader of the coven and weild the powerful Hag's Eye. However, you must grow the ingredients first and that takes time. However, you can take shortcuts and use your magic to steal other players ingredients, or try to ruin their efforts. But be careful, Hexing (casting spells) causes corruption which may ruin your own efforts to brew the best potions.
“A competitive coven convenes around a cauldron to cast curses and create concoctions. Great for hexing a friend (or three) behind their backs while you become the reigning witch.” – Jonathan R. M.
“Easy to learn, with beautiful artwork! The turn order is quick and moves at a good pace.” – Crystal S.
“Great gameplay and the large amount of work that was put into the game is something you can really tell.” – Kyle A.
“Quick to learn and appropriate for young and old players. There are many ways to play so each session feels unique.” – Joseph M.
“There is great interplay between players.” – Michelle B.
“This game did a VERY good job of letting me feel like a wicked witch.” – Aaron L.
During the game, you will be:
- recording potion recipes (saving them for until the end of the game) that you will brew for Victory Points.
- growing the potion's ingredients in one of your two gardens.
- picking some ingredients each turn until the garden is completely empty (harvesting), placing those ingredients in your cauldron. collecting a Crone Token (worth 3 Victory Points) each time you empty one of your gardens.
- casting spells (called hexes) in order to expedite your harvesting, "borrowing" (read: stealing) ingredients from other players' gardens or even randomly taking ingredients from another player's cauldron. Often the cost of casting a hex is CORRUPTION! Corruption makes it harder to brew during the potion brewing phase.
Each card contains 4 parts. From top to bottom they are:
If you want a second copy of the game, simply increase the pledge by an amount equal to the game plus half the cost of shipping the first game. For those with free shipping add an additional $2.00 per extra game.
Stretch goals that are not unlocked will be available as an add on purchase during pledge management.
The first stretch goal is the Advanced Victory Conditions Deck. These cards can be used to change the game's scoring rubrics that vary from game to game. These will impact your strategies as you play the game, adding even more replay value to the game!
Reaching the second stretch goal allows us to print Cauldron: Bubble and Boil in better card stock, upgrading to 300 gsm card stock (with a chance to upgrade it further with later stretch goals).
The third stretch goal adds the optional Moon Deck. This separate set of cards that follow the phases of the moon. Each of the phases of the moon (e.g. waxing gibbous, full moon) will affect that turn in a specific way. The moon deck operates like an event deck that affects all players.
The fourth stretch goal? It introduces the tarot card sized Coven Role Deck. This expansion allows you to take on specific roles within the coven. Each role has special abilities that impact how you play the game.
The fifth stretch goal is the Familiar Expansion PACK Stretch goal at $25,000 will be an 8-card deck featuring familiars. These cards remain in play from turn to turn, each with their own unique abilities.
If they are not unlocked they can be added onto during pledge management after the campaign.

Just back the at the INNER CIRCLE COVEN MEMBER level and provide a photo of yourself or your beloved familiar and our awesome artists will create the artwork for the card featuring you and/or your familiar.

The idea for Cauldron: Bubble and Boil first came to me in Fall 2011. I began to develop the game and quickly went to crowdfund it in Fall of 2012, however, I was a terrible car accident toward the beginning of the campaign and had to have spinal surgery. Unable to run the campaign, I canceled it and vowed to bring it to boardgamers later. For the past several years I have honed and polished the game. Cauldron: Bubble and Boil is now ready for you!

Retailers, if you are interested in a "Retailer Level" pledge, please contact me for more information. I will gladly work with you! However please be aware that my GOAL is to have all the games in the hands of the individual backers before getting the games to retailers. They will get their games before you do and you will get games immediately thereafter. It is a win, win, win situation.
I stand behind Cauldron: Bubble and Boil and if you aren't satisfied with the game, then please contact me and arrange to return it within 30 days after you received it and I will refund the cost of the game ($39).
Risks and challenges
Regarding the status of the game: All the artwork for the core game is complete. 99% of the layout is also complete. For potential stretch goals, the artwork and layout is around 95-99% complete (depending on stretch goals).
As you can see from my extensive history as a Kickstarter backer (100+ projects, mostly board games) I know many of the potential challenges to a project. I have seen amazing campaigns and infuriating ones so I certainly understand the backer perspective. Mind you, I cannot predict the future but I foresee no major issues. As always the biggest challenge will be shipping. The game is nearly ready to be sent to the printer, all I need is your help to make this game a reality! Any hiccups encountered will be dealt with transparently with you, the awesome backers, in a timely manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
