Historia is a Civilization game by Giochix.it
Historia is a civilization game for 1-6 players. It's easy to learn and to play, and lasts about 25 minutes per player. Its central mechanic revolves around simultaneous action selection which reduces downtimes. The game ends once players have reached the Modern Era and the player with the most points is the winner. There is also a variant that adds A.I. for solo play. Historia will be available in multilanguage versions including: English, Italian, French, and German.
A set of action cards is available to help guide the players through their civilization. Each card has a powerful effect. Used action cards form a discard pile from which they will be drawn back into a player’s hand once the revolution card is played. Players have to determine the right moment to play an action card as well as the best order in which to play them. Advanced actions become available when the player's civilization advances in technology.
The civilization strength is represented by power cubes, which are spent and recovered during the player’s turn. There are also leaders, advisors, and wonders. Leaders provide objectives that allow players to score additional victory points. Advisors provide special powers and must be discarded after use. Wonders can be used, once per turn, to give a variety of bonuses.

Historia is a game for skilled players. It is easy to learn, but difficult to master. Each player must find their own way towards achieving victory!
The game flows smoothly, even with 6 players, and there is very little downtime.
Our aim is simple: we want to produce this game with the best quality possible. The common "publishing process" doesn't allow us to put all of our ideas into the game box without the final cost becoming too high. To help offset this we ask for your help by joining us in this project and spreading the word to your friends. This will allow us to make a great game, full of variants and upgraded components!
Giochix has produced 25 games over the past 7 years. If you would like to learn more about his games you can visit to www.giochix.it.
These games have been printed in Europe by either Cartamundi, Ludofact, or Planetgames. All of these printing companies specialize in game production and are well known for their quality. Historia will be produced in the same way, with the same quality and care for details.

This crowdfunding campaign is part of a global campaign made on three platforms (Kickstarter, Giochistarter and Spieleshmiede). Two platforms use the euro, one the dollar. To avoid confusion we refer to Giochistarter website as “official counter” of this campaign: check this page.
The stretch-goals will be unlocked consequential to the numbers show there. Giochistarter page already shows the TOTAL amount collected by all 3 platforms converted in euro. The page is updated every 30 minutes.
To include an Add-On item, increase your pledge by the appropriate amount.
We made 6 special plastic markers to use on the Development Matrix of the board. The Matrix Markers replace the normal wooden disks provided with the game. They are hand casted, made on Civilization color and the Civilization symbol is engraved on them. They are available to all rewards at 9.90$.
Note: as the marker production is limited by the few time available, we will able to ship up to 300 Add-On sets with the game. If more sets will be requested, we will ship them separately after the game launch. In that case they will be shipped by mail service without any additional cost.
Gladiatori Deluxe: Gladiatori is a Giochix card-driven game in which each player assumes the role of a gladiator in the Ancient Roman Empire. Deluxe version with 8 metal miniatures. Add 45$.
This project is available on three crowdfunding platforms at the same time: Kickstarter (USA), Giochistarter (Italy), and Spieleschmiede (Germany).
To define the total amount collected, along with the relative Stretch goals activated, you will need to consider the sum reached by all 3 funding websites.
On Giochistarter website you have this sum is automatically calculated.
Historia is a game that is language independent (board, cards and other components). The manual and the box will be produced in multilingual edition (Italian, English, German, French). All participants will receive the same version.
There are no shipping costs to Italy, Svizzera, USA, Canada, Japan, China, South Korea and Israel.
For other EU Countries add 25$. Rest of the World add 40$.
For the Platinum pack, shipping costs are: 37$ for EU and 60 for rest of the world.
Games will be shipped from Italy with Mail service. This shipping solution DOES NOT offer insurance.
From past experience we already know that the statistics of lost items is VERY small.
However, if you require insurance for your order, you can add "Insured" option with additional 6$.
Historia will be launched at the upcoming Essen fair (Germany, 16 October 2014).
We will do everything in our power to ship your orders sooner than the 16 October 2014. However, as there is always the chance of the production process getting delayed for various reasons, we assure that in the worst case shipments will be made 5-10 days after the Essen Fair ends.
The designer is Marco Pranzo, 39 years old, Informatic Engineer. Historia is his second game after Upon a Salty Ocean, published by Giochix in 2011.
Which kind of games do you like? I love German/Euro games which show the theme strongly in their mechanics. Anyway, I play every chance I get and with as many games possible.
Where did you get the idea? I played a lot of the civilization computer games! Most recently, I read some books about human civilization, like Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies (by J. Diamond). I suggest you all read it if you like the theme. • I made the first draft of Historia in 2008, and I completed the first game version in 2010. In the following years I developed it a lot up until 2012 - when Giochix took it. I spent the last year checking and refining the rules.
How the game evolved? The game has been changed many times. I tried different solutions and possibilities in these years.
The idea to use Action cards and Power cubes has been there from the beginning.
The most important change I made in the first years is to move the game from "all players manage a Civilization and influence other Civilizations" to a more classic structure "any player manages his Civilization": the result was much more clear and linear, without removing or reducing the player interaction on the game.
In the beginning, the Action card was played with some Territory cards and Power cubes was moved through 3 status pools. There was also another level to show the speed of cube recover. I simplified this and now we have only two cube status and a Territory map.
Near the end, I added the variants, fixed the Advisor mechanics, and removed Diseases.
Which is the more original aspect of Historia?
·The game experience. I was looking for an epic game, but fast and with little downtime. I tried to create a game with a high degree of strategy, but where the players managed their civilizations using a single resource: the power cubes. This frees players from spending time on the micro-management of their civilization and lets them focus on their global strategy. I think I succeeded as the game lasts only 25 minutes (per player).
Another important aspect of Historia is that player interactions are not destructive. In other games, wars directly damage the opponent and, in some cases, puts them out of the game. I preferred to use a different mechanic to avoid excessive penalties of non-military players and I tried to balance territory extension with knowledge advancements.
Risks and challenges
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY BEFORE PLEDGING ON THIS CAMPAIGN.
Even though we do our best to ensure a quality product and a fast production, there is always the risk of delays. Supplier shortage, holidays, and weather conditions are just a few of the reasons a production could be delayed.

If a package is not delivered due to a backers fault (wrong address given, backer didn’t claim the delivered package from their post office, etc), the backer may be requested to pay additional shipping fees for the item to be sent out again.
