“Great Scott! This is the perfect key ring for all BTTF fans, and now I can actually say, ‘where did I put my flux capacitor?’” --Bob Gale, Back to the Future Co-creator
It’s all about the details
We have worked obsessively to perfect the small details in the Mini Flux to make it as screen accurate as possible considering it’s small size.
To help confirm detail accuracy, we are also consulting with Joe Walser, Head of the Official Delorean Time Machine Restoration. Joe and his team were responsible for the museum-quality restoration of the movie's "A" car DeLorean, permanently parked at Universal Studios Hollywood.
“I’m amazed at the detail captured in a U.S. quarter sized Flux Capacitor! Every member of the Official DeLorean Time Machine Restoration team will have their keys hanging from one of these epic die-cast miniature Flux Capacitors.” -- Joe Walser, Head of the hero screen-used Back to the Future Official DeLorean Time Machine Restoration
The Mini Flux Capacitor has approximately 30 individual parts which must be easily assembled during the manufacturing process. This became one of the biggest challenges of the design. Our solution was to engineer several parts to work as interlocking layered pieces and then secure with very small screws. As you can see, it's really cool the way it comes together!
"When Marty McFly used the quote, 'If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything,’ I'm pretty certain he was actually talking about the Mini Flux Capacitor team for their tireless efforts over the past three years in bringing this unique product to market. Soon, the power of the Flux Capacitor can fit inside your pockets (as long as you don't turn them inside out in 2015!) -- Stephen Clark, BacktotheFuture.com Executive Director
"Time circuits on. Flux Capacitor, Fluxing."
The fluxing lights are activated by pressing a button on the back. Pressing the button a second time triggers the “time travel effect”.
The Mini Flux Capacitor also comes with a sticker sheet to match the red warning labels seen in the movie.
"Are you telling me that this sucker is nuclear?!" No, no, no, this sucker runs on batteries. But it will give you 1.21 jigowatts of pure geek joy to own your personal mini flux capacitor!
The Optional Keychain
The top pipe can easily be removed and swapped out for an included keychain attachment.
What is our solution for the abuse your Mini Flux Capacitor might take on a keyring or in your pocket? Gorilla Glass! We are using Gorilla Glass for the window, which is significantly stronger than regular glass and not scratch-prone like plastic.
We are ready for manufacturing, and your pre-orders will make sure it happens!
By pre-ordering here on Kickstarter, you will ensure that the Mini Flux Capacitor goes into production. Our manufacturer is standing by, ready to begin tooling the die-cast and injection molds for all the parts.
Estimated delivery is 2nd quarter 2015, in plenty of time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future.

Risks and challenges
While we are striving to keep the Mini Flux Capacitor as accurate as possible, there is always the possibility that we may face some production hurdles and may have to alter or adjust some details of the final product. While we do not anticipate this being a problem, should there be necessary design or detail changes, we will be certain to come up with a solution that stays as true to the Flux Capacitor as possible, and we will keep our backers well informed.
Because we are meticulous about the details in creating an accurate Mini Flux Capacitor, we have given ourselves an appropriate window of time to complete your orders so that we can deliver your Mini Flux Capacitor on time while not compromising our own manufacturing standards.
