In CLASH! Dawn of Steam, players will either fight to tear a location to shreds one piece at a time, or stand up to protect it. Here are some highlights of the game that may pique your interest:
-Asymmetric game play. Each player has their own separate win condition. You aren’t chasing the same objective and so can play your game based on your strategy
-Beautifully illustrated full-art cards. With a team of world class artists on board, we opted to have our art on showcase. As such, the card layouts feature the artwork proudly rather than hiding 80% of it behind filler design space.
-No randomized sets or packs. You always know exactly what you're getting. No chasing rares or useless commons.
Check out what these reviewers have to say about CLASH! Dawn of Steam.
A gust of fresh air blew past Raven Stormshroud as she scanned the skies. It was supposed to be a reminder of the freedom of the air, of the carefree life in the floating cities above Toran. The life that the townsfolk would be experiencing, if not for the gauntlet of enemy ships that besieged the city, a siege now in its thirty-third day.
No gaps in the cordon of ships, or none that she trusted, anyway. She'd learned early in the siege that when the dark elf Emiry Uriks left an opening, it was a trap. He might be brutal and cruel, from all the reports she'd heard, but he was also a master tactician.
She let her roof-prism glasses fall. Fancy instrument, the best binoculars money could buy, but they couldn't show her a way to break the siege. Leaving the parapet, she swung down by rope to the city below. The city of Toranfide couldn't be said to have streets exactly. The tightly woven base of the city was the closest thing to a street and often functioned as one. Through chinks in the weave, the mountains of Toran were visible far below. Raven hurried along that webbing toward the High Hangar command tower. Maybe her lieutenant Domi would have some new ideas. As if any of their ideas had done them a bit of good so far.
Now that you've learned about the game and its mechanics, why not journey deeper into the evolving world of Asyria by reading an awesome short story about Panstrom Swiftra, Praetan High Overseer, written by Studio Writer Daniel Ausema.
If you’d like to learn more about the creative process behind CLASH! Dawn of Steam, feel free to check out these interviews about the entire game design process. You’ll see some of the hurdles that you, the awesome tabletop gaming community, have helped us overcome.
We've spent the last 12 months ensuring that the game mechanics were as fun and balanced as possible, while slowly commissioning the art for the game out of pocket, one piece at a time. This project is (and always has been) a labor of love, which is why we've had no problem locking ourselves in our homes and living modestly in order to fund the game to this stage. We've self-funded all of the art for an entire 2-Player Boxed Set as a show of our passion and ever-growing belief in this evolving world of Asyria. We here at Mad Ape Games fully believe this game is ready to be enjoyed by the amazing tabletop community.
And so, the time has finally come to share our game with the world, and we need your help so that our world class artists can finish up the artwork, and we can send the game off to final production. Here at Mad Ape Games we take great pride in announcing that we've chosen to have the game manufactured right here in California. This will give us greater control over the process than having the game manufactured in China, where we would have a huge language barrier in the way of putting out the best product possible. We can cut down production times significantly by manufacturing here in California, next stop your front door!
Risks and challenges
We have taken several steps to instill confidence in our potential backers, including the following:
1) Using a local manufacturer/printer. In my day job as a graphic artist I've worked with this company many times and they work extremely hard, and put out a beautiful product.
2) Hiring several artists. We currently have multiple talented artists ready to create stunning art to illustrate the world of Asyria. By having multiple artists working at once we can greatly hasten our ship date.
3) Submitting the game to All Us Geeks, WeaponsGrade Tabletop, Good Geek Gaming, and Bower's Game Corner to be reviewed. We believe in our game and so when we sent it off to get impartial reviews from the awesome channels above, we had total confidence it would hold up.
CLASH! Dawn of Steam has been my dream for years, and I am humbled that you would participate in giving this dream steam-powered wings! Don't forget to click "share" below the videos and find us on FB/twitter!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
