This Backing really made me rethink backing future projects on Kickstarter. It's been three years and I've not heard anything in over a years time about my products owed. I haven't backed anything since this. Though I've wanted to.
Anything? Any news?
You can contact him probably via G+
An annual end of year official Update would be good to summarise the situation and indicate if books and Foie Gras to Fear will be out in 2015 or not.
Matthew: I would hope you don't. I'm going to do another run. It's a lot of money. I'm saving up for it. It's not easy, but it's happening.
Merry Christmas, and sorry for the wait.
Okay so should we just consider this another failed Kickstarter at this point since we have had nothing but radio silence for months?
For what it's worth I will be state side for two weeks starting next week. So if the overseas shipping is the problem, then I can give you the US address I'll staying at.
Yes, any word on the books?
Any news on the physical rewards?
So...where are we at now?
Not at the moment. We're basically trying to get adjusted, caught up, and get the money together for a second printing so we can get out replacements and things. It's a little complicated from a practical and logistic standpoint, so we're trying to figure out ways that'll work for us without hurting too bad.
Just checking in. Any updates?
That's totally fair. I'll see if I can't stop in and touch base. I'd hate to use the actual update function, because I feel that's kind of spamming people's inboxes for no real reason.
But I will make the effort to at least keep from radio silence.
I appreciate the update. I don't mind being told the truth, even when it's not the hoped for response. I would rather hear bad news (or simply a 'sorry, nothing new to report' periodically) than radio silence, which is what I have had from some other kickstarters. :(
I don't have a positive update right now for you. I am still scrambling to get caught up. I fell behind on my 'day job' work that pays the bills, because we were living out of hotels for two months. I'm getting closer to a point where I can devote solid time to the project. But I'm in a position where I'm working 18~ hours a day to get where I need to be. What little bit of free time I have left, I just don't have the mental bearings to do other stuff.
I'm trying. It's taking time. I'm more than a little overwhelmed right now, but I'm trying.
Nearing two months since I last asked, so can we get an update on this?
Sorry if you feel that way. I am still working toward these things. Just haven't had enough time.
And yes. I did move for work. While I'd like to devote all my time to this, that's just not reasonable. Could I have budgeted my time better? Probably. But when your day job is creative work, and your night job is creative work, sometimes it gets to be too much. At a certain point, you're just staring at a screen, because you're spent.
That's one reason I moved for work; I had a good offer that wasn't in a creative field, so I could afford the time and resources necessary to finish this all up. I'm trying to get caught up with the "day job" work so I can devote my spare time to getting this all done. It's difficult. I'm sorry. I was stretched thin, and I'm getting there.
I still have not received the key or map that was at my pledge level. At this point, with the move to Japan, I don't expect to. Just as I don't expect to ever receive the Amaranthine anthology.
I understand the problems that Mr. Hill and Mr. Young have experiences but much of this preceded the current troubles.
So it's been a couple of months. What is the current status?
Hi David, international backer (UK) no sign of the physical book, not sure if it could still be in transit or if one of the missing ones..
Thank you, Russell! Glad to hear it. For other replacement international shipments, I'm trying to get them together. It's just taking me a bit. Sorry on that. I have no idea what went on with that batch. I handed off like 600 packages that day, and about 30 seem to have had problems.
Literally just received my copy of F2F and other books in the mail, all books were in pristine condition and just as as good looking as i'd imagined.
Very happy about all of this, would definitely back other projects by this content creator in the future. Once again, thanks David for bearing with me and for giving me the joy that is reading/having a physical copy of the books.
You totally don't. No issue there.
In your specific case, you're getting a handful of books I don't have prints for; I haven't been able to get additional runs. But I think I've got a solution for that (I believe I might have a couple of copies that were stored at a relative's house). Can you do me a slight favor and hit me up with a direct email (not through KS) with your current address? If you want to cover shipping, that's on you. I'll get you a shipment out.
I appreciate the update from September David, and I don't want to seem pushy, but I have attempted to correspond with you in order sort out some sort of additional payment for shipment in order to resolve at least my own order.
I am more than likely going to end up moving again at the end of this year so I am really hoping to wrap up some of my still pending shipments to prevent any sort of postal loss. I do appreciate the fact that you have had to deal with personal hardships over the past few months so I don't want to seem pushy.
I understand your situation. Just felt the need to mention it in case of slipping through the cracks.
I'm getting to replacements and things as quickly as I can. Right now, every replacement and additional step is out of my pocket, so it's coming only as quickly as I can work extra and receive extra pay. These last couple of weeks, I've been in and out of the hospital, and fallen a bit behind on my Day Job work. Bear with me. I'll put together a more substantive update soon.
I haven't received my hardcover book yet (international backer here). Any word on this?
I don't have any strong updates regarding those right yet. I'm trying to get where I need to be for that financially, it's just taking a bit.
What is the status on the physical rewards such as the keys and maps?
How is the physical copies of Foie Gras to Fear looking for GenCon?
Got it, and sounds good on all counts. Thank you.
Hiya! Posted this over in one of the updates, but thought I'd sling it here too. I've backed at physical-copy level of both this and ADX. Would it make it easier/cheaper for you to ship them out together? If so, I'd be happy with that. Also, don't know if you were still going with the key plan, but I'd actually prefer not to receive one if that's ok. Shipping to the UK, a parcel of books only shouldn't get held up at customs as (I believe) they're tax exempt.
Kairam: Hit me up via email. MachineIV@Gmail.com. I'll look into your package.
Steve: Maybe. I'm doing proofs. I keep running into issues with the printer, where they're screwing up one image or two every time, but for some reason it's a different issue. I'm on like the seventh print proof, and the last one had a ruined cover. Unfortunately, I can't go with a traditional printer because of the numbers. So, if the next one is fixed, absolutely.
No rewards yet.
Will Foie Gras to Fear be available at GenCon in hardcopy? if so I could pick up my copy there.
Russell: In your case, I could take the amount to ship a F2F to you, but I have to get an order of most of the books before I can send out another package of each book. Fortunately, I have to do that anyway, in order to have some stock for Gen Con.
And thank you for your understanding. It's been a rough patch, and I really want to see to it everyone gets theirs.
If I could thumbs up the last few posts by the Creator (David Hill) I would. I logged on somewhat irate about where my copy of the book had gotten to. Read the last slew of comments explaining the situation, noting that other people are confirming that they have gotten the book and am now leaving a positive message just to say thank you for handling this so well.
Kudos again. Question though, would it be worth entertaining the idea that those of us who are impatient (or who will likely be moving house again ourselves) could pay shipping (a second time) just to get our orders to us within some sort of time frame. I know I would consider it a donation toward the effort because using the PDF is just not the same as having the book in hand myself.
I'm trying to get that stuff together. It's a budgeting issue; I just have to get together the money to do it, since I a) went over budget, and b) had to contend with the robbery issues.
It's a not-insignificant amount for me to accumulate on a writer's wages, but I'm doing my best at this juncture.
I have received a hardcopy of the book, as well as a PDF. Just wondering about the other materials--Foie Gras, the custom location, key, map, etc.
Please look at my order as well. I have received nothing in the mail, and no notice by email or otherwise.
Actually, I was just worried that my mail got lost in a spam box or something. ;)
Thanks for the replies here and by email. :)
Sorry. I just made a huge move, cross-country, and I'm behind on some work. So I'm a bit slow to respond.
Once I get adjusted, I'll look at your order specifically.
I sent you a mail, but no answer so far.
Drop me an email with your address. I'll check on it as soon as I get a moment. Machineiv@gmail.com.
Any idea when I might get my book? I don't want a precise date, mind you. More like a Q3-like ballpark idea. ^^
