You Backed Us - One Million in 25 Hours!!

So much has happened since we launched the campaign yesterday. It’s hard to believe that only 30 hours have gone by. Yesterday was the most fast-paced campaign any of us could have ever imagined. A team of 6 of us were each behind a computer from 8 AM EST and worked 14 hours straight to address the flurry of positive questions, comments, and inquiries, before leaving for the night to recoup.

Thanks to your support, The Micro has received so much attention. You’ve shown the world that we are ready for a new consumer product category. Although we get a lot of inquiries about The Micro from outside of the campaign, we want you to know that you are our first priority and we’ll be giving you our full attention. We’re going to continue to respond to your comments, private messages, and social media posts in the order we received them, and we’ll be caught up very soon.

We also want you to know that we are committed to maintaining delivery schedules. We always planned to eventually go into high-volume production. The additional pledges help us meet our production goals. In addition, assembling in the U.S. guarantees quality and control of operations.

One of the best ways for us to ensure that we deliver on time is by staying with the design we presented to you. We’re thrilled to get started and we have many more exciting updates for you in the coming days.

Thanks again from The M3D Team.

This is awesome! I expect this will reach well over $5 million easily. You will have to second source the manufacturing and logistics to keep up with the demand. Is the software ready? Can we download it and browse though the 3D models and start making our own? Your on CNET also.

Guys, you are on the BBC news over here :D!!:

Absolutely fantastic job, cant wait for you to break some Kickstarter records :)!!!!

@Tom Marsh We absolutely agree that this is the best course of action - Complete agreement here. Sometimes the creators and backers can get so excited and ambitious as a group; we need to maintain vigilance about how much work is actually ahead of us. Luckily, we have lots of experience with consumer products and have a good idea of what's ahead.
      @oneshot_cannon Thanks Herman!!
@Herman Sanchez Thanks!! We would love for you to please share those great ideas in the backer comments section and we'll compile a list of great sample prints (and videos/closeups) of a select group for demos!
@Casper Rognaldsen if it doesn't ship on schedule, the entire team will eat 3D printed ninja stars :X
@Matthias E Zeitler I wish we could, the operational strategy was planned early on and changing now could affect successful deliveries.
@Jovann LEBLANC Thanks so much. We have so much anticipation for all of you too!
@Mac Ha Nguyen Of course we have every goal to make these dates on time (if not, then a little early). We suggest windows surface Pro.
@Dimitri Grekas We'll be able to send you filaments directly, and we've had distributor requests in your region which will eventually keep shipping costs down. This is something we have to work on for the future (keeping prices low)
@Marion ter Schuur Netherlands is huge backer group for us, and shipping to all of the EU will be easy. We're working with some of the best forwarding companies.
@Heather a Thanks so much!! Sleep will be forthcoming, in the next few days :X
@Ely C. Indeed we've been planning for this for years, and we're confident in delivery dates. We have an AMAZING advisory group and partners that can help us stay on target. Again, it we stick to the original design and stay focused we can make all our goals.
@Sumer and Karen Matharu Roger that, concrete printing ; )
@Court additional goals (if backers approve) will be forthcoming. We're only a day and a half in, and in general, we're going to stay the course to deliver the product as promised!

Thank you. Please stick to the original design. That's what I ordered. The tendency of success to cause projects to over think their product is one of the most frustrating things as a backer. As long as the current specs are achieved and the product works reliably the priority must be a speedy delivery. Great looking product btw. Very proud to have backed this.

I bet it will not ship before Christmas, and if it does, I will print out a hat and eat it!

With the 5000+ units that you plan to ship in Nov/Dec, do you think you can also squeeze in the early adopters for a Nov/Dec delivery?
Given the amount of units that you have to build due the huge success of the campaign, the few hundred from the early adapters shouldn't make much of a difference?

      Just a word: BRAVO

      and some others:
I'm really excited too for backing your awesome project.

I'm like a child waiting for Christmas now ;)

    10. Mac Ha Nguyen on April 8, 2014

Great product, hopefully you'll be able to deliver before Xmass?! One question: would software be able to run on WindowsRT tablet?

    11. Dimitri Grekas on April 8, 2014

Thank you for this project and well done. How easy is it to purchase additional filament and what is the cost? I live in the arse end of Africa and need to understand what my running costs will be! Thanks.

I live in the Netherlands and a backer! Hope the shipping is no problem, can you tell me that?

    13. Heather Delaney on April 8, 2014

Really excited to be a backer in this! Make sure you get sme sleep, looks like it is going to be a long month!

    14. Ely C. on April 8, 2014

Wow, that's a huge rush! I hope the delivery dates are still plausible, even with this huge scale of demand. You were planning mass-production anyway... Good job, guys!

    15. Sumer and Karen Matharu on April 8, 2014

Great product. Next you have to make concrete printing compatible. And dont forget a 3D scanner.

    16. Trip on April 8, 2014

      Stretch goals? :)
