Thanks so much for checking out my Kickstarter page. As you can tell, I'll be recording a live album on May 31st at The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA. I couldn't be more excited about it. It's been a great year so far. Sarah, my wife, is releasing a new record and has been touring in the Northeast to support her album. Ryan Montbleau Band has been super busy with touring and we're working on new songs for a record. My son Elliott turned 8 months old the other day. Life is pretty awesome right now.
I've been feeling compelled to make a live recording for a while. Some of my favorite albums, most notably Jerry Lee Lewis at The Starclub and Wes Montgomery's Smokin' at the Half Note were recorded live in clubs. There's an excitement to this medium. The inability to go back and re-write your performance. The commitment to get it right the first time while at the same time taking chances. I think the live experience has pushed me to be a better musician. To have to live in the moment is an electrifying feeling and I can't wait to document that feeling on May 31st.
My band is stellar. Mike Piehl has been a part of this project since the beginning. He is an absolutely fantastic drummer. Dean Cassell is on bass. He has a tremendous ear and sense of groove. Jason Cohen is on keyboards. Through playing every night with The Ryan Montbleau Band, Jay and I have developed a deep musical chemistry.
In closing, thank you so much for supporting my music. It's not everyday that someone gets to do what they love for a living and the fans make it possible. I owe everything to you.
