I'm R. Hunter Gough. You may already know me as the creator of:
the card game Gother Than Thou
...and a bunch of other stuff.
So! Even though I've made tons of exciting things, none of them have been a huge success, which is why I need YOUR help to fund my next amazing video game project!
Slider is a simple but highly addictive puzzle game for Android (and later for iOS), partially inspired by a Japanese-only Gameboy Advance game called “Happy Panechu”, and an unfinished game of my own from over 10 years ago called “Cellement”.
The core gameplay is that you tilt your device to slide colored blocks around the board. When four blocks of the same color form a square, they merge into a bigger block, and you can tap the bigger blocks to clear them and score points. The various modes build on this core; in puzzle mode you're given a specific set of blocks to clear. In all of the other modes, random blocks are steadily added to the board, and your goal is to get the highest score you can before time runs out or before the board fills up completely.
I'm developing Slider in Unity, a game engine that makes it easy to create a game once and release it on a wide variety of platforms. Your funding will help me pay for the Android version of Unity, the Above and Beyond Sprite Manager 2 library for Unity, and a low-end Android tablet to use for testing. Funding beyond the project goal will help pay for additional graphics by professional artists, professional sound effects, the iOS (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch) version of Unity, and the associated costs of releasing an iOS game.
So then, let's make a beautiful game together, shall we?
