About this project
Hi, thanks for checking out our project! With your help, we’d like to launch our first line of lup footwear. Our hope is to raise enough funding to create a free design and mentoring space in New York City. This space would allow designers to come together, meet mentors, work on their designs and use the studio to showcase their work in a professional setting. The idea for this open design space is quite personal to us, because it’s what we wish we had access to during the early stages of our careers.
The Shoe We simply wanted to create great-looking versatile footwear. We started by designing the shoe around the sport of ping pong, which has given them a very unique feel and style. The end result is a great looking, comfortable pair of footwear that will complement any lifestyle
The lup team is comprised of Daniel Bailey, Omar Bailey and Luke Deering. Dan (MrBailey.co.uk) is a well-respected footwear/product designer and creator of the online magazine http://conceptkicks.com/. His work appears annually in Swarovski Crystals Consumer Electronics Inspirations catalogue. His designs have also been picked up by the classic motorbike company, Indian and he has consulted for many brands including Nike, DC Shoes, Calvin Klein and Old Spice... and he looks like Grizzly Adams.
Our second team member is Omar Bailey, founder of brightideadesigninc.com. If you picked up a pair of Jay Z’s RocaWear shoes last year, odds are they were designed by Omar. Omar is the young balding gray hair in the team and brings a wealth of experience drawn from his time designing at Converse, Timberland, K-Swiss and New balance. In 2006 Omar started his own design group Bright Idea Design Inc, where he consults on footwear projects for an array of companies. However, Omar is predominantly recognized for creating custom footwear for athletes ranging from Allan Houston, formally of the New York Knicks, to Major League Baseball players like Craig Monroe and Grammy Award winning artists including T-Pain.
Our final team member is Luke Deering, a serial entrepreneur and CEO & Co-Founder of EntrepreneurFinder.com an interactive community designed to bring mentors and mentees together. Luke brings an engineering background to lup drawn from his experience with luxury giant Estée Lauder. He is by far the worst designer out of the bunch of us. Therefore, we gave him the prestigious job of picking the color for the lup laces. If you don’t like them, he promised he will fire himself, and we fully support that decision.
Our break-even point after development of the various mold sizes, manufacturing of the footwear, shipping and packaging will be around $135,000. However, our goal is to raise more than this so that we can create the free studio space.
With your help we are sure that we can do more than put nice shoes on people’s feet. So feel free to buy 10 pairs at a time because these three lup colorways will never be available again!
Our exclusive KickStarter prices are what we anticipate selling our future commercial lines to retailers for. Retailers, feel free to resell at a price that fits you. However, our suggested retail price is between $125 and $145.
Please add an additional $25 per pair of footwear for P&P, if your address is outside of North America.
Shoe sizes available - Male US: 9, 9 ½, 10, 10 ½, 11, 11 ½, 12
With your support, we plan on having all shoes ready to ship mid summer. Thank you for your support!
