Thank you for checking out our project. We've spent the last few months working on a project that we'd like to present to you now, it's called Lawnmower Challenge.

Lawnmower Challenge is a modernized and updated homage to the classic "Chip's Revenge" and "Sokuban".

Your goal in the game is to mow all the grass in each level with as few moves as possible. This may seem like child's play (and its totally suitable for gamers of all ages), but the levels become increasingly complex with the gradual introduction of new tile types.

For example, mud prevents lawnmower movement but allows player movement. Tall grass prevents player movement but allows lawnmower movement until it's mowed. Locked gates must be unlocked with keys and trees, which block your path, can be chopped down with an axe. The game will feature 4 different seasons, each of which will have different unique tiles which fit the theme of the season - Winter will have slippery ice tiles, Autumn will be dark and feature stacks of hay, and Spring will be water themed. Our goal is to release the game with a complete selection of Summer levels and a few Autumn levels. We will release updates to the game regularly in the future.

What do we need the money for? We don't have a source of income or outside funding. All the operating costs of this project have been out of pocket so far. We really want to make a fun, accessible, and polished game and that takes more than pocket change. Here is a breakdown of where the money will go.

What we need:

  • Hardware
  • Software licenses
  • Commercial licensing and legal costs
  • Continued development and labor costs
  • Marketing and publicity

There are three tiers that we are aiming for:

  • $5,000 Tier - We will be able to fund the purchase of development licenses we need to publish the game and some testing hardware, bare minimum. This will also fund a minimal marketing campaign.
  • $8,000 Tier - We will be able to purchase necessarily development and testing hardware, and additional software and licenses. We will also be able to cover legal costs and additional marketing.
  • $12,000 Tier - We will also be able to hire a professional programming consultant to aid us in development. We will also be able to develop better updates at a faster rate and fund even more marketing. With enough funding, we'll also be able to push out an android port sooner.

Any amount beyond our goal will really help us polish and promote the game and studio. All of the money we receive will be used to fund this project and help springboard future projects.

As you can see from our rewards, contributors also have a chance to add to the design of this game and even meet us in person at PAX. We are also giving out special beta testing passes which include prerelease builds of the game and offering original signed art prints and digital soundtrack downloads as rewards. Please note that international backers should add $5-10 to cover shipping costs. We'll leave the amount up to you.

  • We are definitely hoping to port it over to Android eventually; however, because of the cost and testing associated with that, we cannot make any promises. Also, if you do not have an Apple iDevice for the game, you may opt out of receiving an App Store code. If you opt out, we will send you the game for Android once and if it is released in the future.
