Toys Made From What...?
Sawdust, Walnut Shells, Flax Fiber, Rice Hulls, Coconut Shells!
Seriously. We are proud to manufacture sustainable, educational kids toys, right here in the U.S.A. - Danbury, Connecticut to be exact.
Since we launched our company with a successful Kickstarter in 2014, we have made toys by incorporating 30% maple sawdust. Now, we are making things even more interesting!
Introducing, Luke's Toy Factory Naturals and Hybrids... The ONLY toys made with Coconut Shells, Flax Fiber, Rice Hulls, Sawdust, and Walnut Shells!
Why do we do this?
Adding organic fibers strengthens the toy by binding the plastic resin with the fibers. The result is a more robust toy that can stand up to an active 3 year old. These fibers replace up to 30% of the plastic that would have been used in the toy, and gives the organic materials a second life instead of being incinerated. Plus, the results look really cool!
They're Educational Too?
Absolutely. Winner of the prestigious Learning Magazine Teacher's Choice Award in the Preschool Category, our toys are 3D stacking puzzles designed for children aged 3+.
Luke has specifically designed these toys for kids who are at the stage where they have outgrown baby toys but are still too young for more sophisticated building toys.
Parts from each truck can be mixed and matched with others to encourage creative play and experimentation! Designed with slight wiggle room so that kids with developing motor skills are not frustrated, our trucks enable preschoolers to construct a working toy truck while encouraging the development of critical problem solving and fine-motor skills. Additionally, the trucks encourage imaginative, creative play.
"The kids loved the vehicles! They loved that they were able to take them apart quickly and rebuild over and over. They even tried to invent new things. I would suggest them to other teachers because it really had their imaginations going!" - Teacher's Choice Award review
Made in America
Our toys are made using state of the art manufacturing processes and materials right here in Connecticut, and our suppliers are American too! By manufacturing in the U.S. we can ensure the highest quality of our toys. In fact, our toys meet or exceed all U.S. and European Union safety standards. Our goal is to balance safety, education, sustainability, and fun!

About Our Campaign
This is our second Kickstarter campaign. We were successful with our first campaign in 2014 which launched Luke's Toy Factory. Since then we have distributed our toys to more than 250 toy stores and 150 schools across the United States. Recently we began exporting to the European Union as well!
As we continue to expand and innovate, we are looking for ways to bring new, sustainable materials to the market while expanding our product offerings. To do so, requires comprehensive testing and certification by accredited third-party laboratories. These safety tests, which include testing for food allergens can be expensive. We are launching this Kickstarter to raise the funds necessary to test and certify our Naturals and Hybrids line of toys.
Rest assured, should this campaign be successful, you will receive the toys you have ordered once they have been tested and certified.
Thus far, we have successfully manufactured sample Natural and Hybrid trucks in their final form, so the material and manufacturing process has been proven. We appreciate your support in helping us bring these truly unique and innovative toys to market!
Risks and challenges
We are confident in our ability to manufacture, package, ship and deliver these toys in time for the 2019 Holiday season.
We have been producing and selling our line of toy trucks since 2014 following a successful KickStarter that launched our Fire Truck. These new toys which incorporate various organic inputs, have been manufactured in small test batches successfully, and the manufacturing process is proven.
The only foreseeable risk is that these toys do not pass required safety testing and certification. However, this risk is extremely low, as our original toys meet or exceed U.S. and European testing standards. For our Natural and Hybrid line of trucks, we will also be testing for allergens to ensure safety for those with food allergies.
Though we do not anticipate any issues in the testing process of these toys, it is possible that a particular material may not pass allergen testing, in which case we would substitute it with an alternative material deemed safe.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
