Frequently Asked Questions
We are not planning to discount our games for Spiel this year. They will be available at the fair for the full price we will offer on our website. There might be some promos or volume deals (e.g. if you spend more than 100 EUR), but we feel that visitors to Essen already get a discount by not having to pay shipping, and we prefer to keep our operations as simple as possible.
That said, we are planning to offer a Spiel pickup option, compensating those who take it with 5 EUR in cash.Last updated:
For its first 3 editions, Town Center was limited to 4 players. In the process of developing the 4th edition, we asked Alban to look into scaling the game up, which turned out to be feasible, without increasing downtime too much.
The solution was to keep the options during Phase I limited to 4 possible cubes. In this way, a player is never faced with too many options that can lead to analysis paralysis. As most other phases in a game are done concurrently, there is neither an increase in downtime, nor a significant increase in overall play time.Last updated:
To keep our operations simple, and the campaign clear, we are not offering any add-ons. Not even our own games. We will operate under the principle of 1 backer - 1 address - 1 game.
This is the only way we can offer these prices, deliver games on time, and have such a funding goal (and stretch goals). If you would really like another copy of the game, we ask that you back from a separate KS account. The copies will ship separately.Last updated:
We will state the value of 35 EUR, which is the value we consider the base game at to have the time of the campaign. Any additional game material added to the game during the campaign will not affect this.Last updated:
From our experience of fulfilling Gear & Piston and Byzantio / Nekken last year, we have learned that such levels, while great for non-EU/USA backers, are really expensive, complicated and difficult to fulfill.
Shipping many games together does not save us any significant amount of money, there is more risk of damage, and customs tends to pay more attention to these packages. Also, they are difficult to pack in a way that allows them to not damage each other in transit.
We realize this will make some very loyal backers (especially in Australia & Taiwan) more reluctant to back this campaign, but we feel that we offer a great price for non-EU/USA backers, having subsidized the real shipping cost as much as we can (well, basically all of it).Last updated:
*EDIT*: See Update #7:
Who knows? Maybe, if there's enough copies left over. With Gear & Piston, we managed to ship some copies to the US, although finding the funds to ship the pallets was difficult. Byzantio did not have enough copies for distribution, and we were happy to keep selling that directly.
Some retailers may buy directly from us at Essen 2014, but of course we won't sell at a price that undermines your trust in us. That said, please note that we cannot control their pricing policies. The expansions will be sold separately (therefore costing more), and only by us for at least a year, or more - they are simply not "big" or expensive enough for distributors to be interested in them.Last updated:
We will sell the game, without any extras for 40 EUR, which is about 55 USD. Shipping for Germany is 5 EUR, shipping for EU is 10 EUR, and shipping for everywhere else is 15 EUR, or about 20 USD.
Therefore, it will cost at least 75 USD to ship the game to the USA.
Expansions will be sold separately, at about 10 EUR, or about 13 USD.Last updated:
No. You get it all, for what you already backed for. Thanks for your early support. Anyone else reading this, you can get word of our campaigns first via http://ludicreations.com/newsletter/.Last updated:
