Week 3: The Final Push

Once again, Kickstarter team, you amaze me with your generosity. I had hoped to be at $8,000 by today and instead you've almost shot the numbers to $9,000. I am flabbergasted. Here is an approximate visual recreation of my response to this news:

Seriously, you're all amazing.

Fortunately, I put aside my flabbering and gasting just long enough to hammer out the details for a trip to Vancouver, B.C. for the inaugural Vancouver Comic Arts Festival on May 26th!

Yes, folks, thanks to your support True Believer is hittin' the road and going international. If you're in the area, or want to make a journey out of it, the show takes place at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Rec Center May 26th and 27th, and what's more it doesn't cost a thing to get in! The guest list is looking pretty awesome, so if you get the chance I highly recommend coming out.

The Release Party last Friday was also a rollicking good time -- made all the more exciting by the fact that we crested $8,000 right in the midst of the festivities. A great cheer went up when I shared the news with everyone. For those of you who couldn't make it, here are a couple (phone-quality, alas) shots of original pages on the wall:

The limited edition comics are also nearing completion this week, so it looks like I'll be able to start shipping them out as soon as the campaign closes next Monday. I haven't been able to stop touching Matt's exquisite screen-printed covers. They feel fantastic.

Finally, I've added a couple options for those of you who want to get your nautical comic fix on. The Baggywrinkles Experience nabs you all three issues of Baggywrinkles (including the brand new, 16-page issue that'll be coming out this summer!) as well as three nautical buttons for only 12 bucks. You can also opt for the Sketch That Ship incentive, where I'll draw a sailing vessel of your choosing for $25! Here's an example of how those will look:

I figured it was high time to give the sailors a little love in this campaign.

With the wild success of last week's reach goal, I'm daring to say that we can hit 10 grand by next Monday. I wouldn't have dreamed it possible two weeks ago, but right now I'd say the sky's the limit. Think we can do it? Let's find out.

Again, thank you all for continuing to believe in this project and for lighting such a huge creative fire in my heart. I'm itching to start working on these new stories that YOU have helped make a reality.

Love and comics,
