The New Indiegogo Campaign

Posted by Lucid Swarm (Creator)

Hello Team!

We want to thank you for supporting our Kickstarter campaign. We are eternally grateful for your commitment. Unfortunately we had to cancel our Kickstarter but this isn’t the end for us. If you haven’t already, we’re asking you to continue your enthusiasm by moving your pledge to our new Indiegogo campaign: http://igg.me/at/CTT

By moving your support to Indiegogo we will guarantee the release of a playable alpha for fall 2014. The funds will be used to create the remaining art and sound needed to bring our game to reviewers hands.

Much thanks, and much love,

The CoreTechs Tactics Team

CoreTechs Tactics is Moving!

Hello Team!

Thank you for all your support and encouragement. Your enthusiasm for CoreTechs Tactics raised over $6,000! We are eternally grateful for your commitment.

Kickstarter campaigns require you to reach full funding in order to receive the contributions. As the closing date draws near, we will unfortunately not be reaching the goal, and thus your contributions will not be processed. We have discovered that without a playable demo of the game, gaining any traction with reviewers is extremely difficult. While the OIGC garnered us some buzz, word of our product has not spread quickly enough to help our campaign. We have decided to adjust our funding model to be delivered in stages.

Our first step is to move our current Kickstarter campaign to Indiegogo. It’s a similar crowd funding site with the key difference being that you don’t have to reach your full funding goal to receive the contributions. We’re humbly requesting that you move your pledge to this campaign: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/coretechs-tactics/x/7864204

As of 5:00 pm today, the Kickstarter campaign will be cancelled. By moving your support to Indiegogo we will guarantee the release of a playable alpha for fall 2014. The funds will be used to create the remaining art and sound needed to bring our game to reviewer’s hands.

CoreTechs tactics is more than just a game. It’s about bringing people together, to create, to play, to engage, to become a CoreTechs Tactics family. Thank you again for becoming a member of this family.

 Much thanks and much love,
-The CoreTechs Tactics team.

The Massive OIGC Update

Hey Team,

We had a blast at the OIGC this week. Thanks so much to the organizers, the developers, and all the gamers that made it all possible.

Lucid Swarm had a 'pod' that we decked out into a full-blown booth. It was pretty snazzy.

The event was especially exciting for us as it also marked the first time ever that we were able to invite the public to play the game. It was great fun to see the crowds finally getting a chance to sink their teeth in and enjoy themselves.

We played on a tiny map to get to the action right away, which had some hilarious repercussions. My personal favourite was when the Acid Critter used his charge, increasing his temporary movement raced up to 6. It allowed him to dart across the whole map and explode in the faces of the unsuspecting enemy. He was unstoppable!

The real star of the show was the Community Card Cast. For each of the two days, we came up with two separate card designs and the crowds voted on which they liked best. We then got suggestions from the audience as to what the character should look like, all the while Darren was drawing away furiously.

The resulting two cards look fantastic don't you think?

We also held a create-a-card contest, giving away a card-design session with our team. There were two winners, one for each faction.

The Technocrat winner was: Antonio Santamaria

The Brethren winner was: Mike Baker of Karman Interactive

If you'd like a one-on-one session with our design team to create a card, we do have a few sessions left with the Elder, Sentinel, and Oracle reward tiers.

If that's a little out of your budget, we do a Community Card Cast every Sunday 2 pm EST on Twitch TV. We'll be taking live feedback and suggestions from the audience and making a card together. It's always great fun. If you'd like to be notified of our CCCs, why not sign up for our CCC newsletter

This week will be a little different however. We've invited a representative fromCISDEP to join us. It's a local Ottawa organization that helps and empowers people with disabilities. As we ourselves grow as a company and creators, we think it's important to share that in any way we can. This time, the event will be Sunday at 5:30 pm EST.

With the OIGC behind us, we'll be posting updates a lot more frequently from here on out. We're hard at work at getting a full gameplay trailer on your screens. There is still a lot of user-interface work to be done, but we should be able to get it to you within a week or so. We'll keep you posted.

Thanks so much for supporting us and thanks for reading.

Update #2 - OIGC, End Credits podcast and the Harmonics Engine

Posted by Lucid Swarm (Creator)
Hello Team!

Lots of fun stuff going on for Lucid Swarm right now. We're hard at work getting our playable demo ready to show off at the OIGC on May 26th. We'll have all sorts cool screenshots, pictures, and maybe even a gameplay video to post soon after. Stay tuned!

If you haven't yet, make sure to check out the interview we (Chris, Ryan & Darren) did over at End Credits. These guys interview a lot of really fun people behind the scenes of the entertainment industry, so check out some of their other podcasts as well.

Alex, our local math genius, wrote a great article about how our Harmonics Engine handles the massive task of balancing our cards. You can read that here . Its a fascinating article.

Last but certainly not least, be sure to tell your friends about us! The more people that become part of the CoreTechs Tactics team, the more awesome content we'll have to play with!

As always, thanks for checking in with us. You guys rock.

Ryan & Chris

Project Update #1: Epic Show of Support from Friends & Family!!!

Posted by Lucid Swarm (Creator)

We survived day one! It was a stressful but exhilarating day!

Thanks to all our friends and family who supported us and helped spread the word.

We had a great Community Card Cast last Sunday on Twitch TV. The community created The Volatile Wight, a Technocrat unit that teleports and poisons its enemies. He hasn't been polished yet, but he looks awesome! Join us tonight at 8:00 for another thrilling Community Card Cast! http://www.twitch.tv/seejay_coretechs
