The name “Macbeth” has been cursed for hundreds of years, synonymous with tyranny and over-vaulting ambition. But what if the true Macbeth was something other than the villain Shakespeare portrayed?
Macbeth: the Red King tells an entirely new story of the real-life Scottish monarch, revealing a benevolent ruler who seized on his legitimate claim to the throne. Drawing from historical sources, this engaging graphic novel by Shaun Manning and Anna Wieszczyk is visually stunning companion to Shakespeare’s legendary drama. See Macbeth vanquish the incompetent Duncan, nurture a difficult relationship with his stepson Lulach, and make pilgrimage to Rome while his noble wife minds the restless kingdom — and witness his last stand against the insurgent prince Malcolm.
Macbeth: The Red King is not a re-telling of the Shakespeare classic, but rather a new history of the famous Scottish king. This book is not only for comic fans, but can be a great tool to help educators and students create a visual introduction to some of the greatest literature in our history.
Macbeth: The Red King is the third graphic novel by Shaun Manning and Anna Wieszczyk, following Interesting Drug (BOOM! Studios/Archaia) and the Kickstarter-funded Hell, Nebraska. Separately, Shaun has written for Star Wars Adventures, Dark Horse Presents, Thought Bubble, and other anthologies, and Anna has illustrated Black Mask Studios' Godkiller, Archaia's Lucid, the Kickstarter-funded R.A.D., and more.
"Manning has written an epic adventure story that captures the twists and turns of political maneuvering that one reads in historical nonfiction books about Scotland and England’s long, chaotic relationship with each other." -- Fanbase Press

Risks and challenges
We always aim to be transparent, and want to do everything we can to minimize risks. There is nothing worse than vapourware, or those that raise tons of money and then vanish. For these reasons, we decided to (a) ask for a modest amount of funds and (b) try to raise only what is needed for a wider print run.
This book is complete, and apart from minor formatting issues for the press, it is done! So, why do we need money? Printing isn't cheap, and we wan't to share this awesome story with as many people as possible.
We do not anticipate any significant project risks. We are not new to kickstarter, and delivered on The Kursk, our first print graphic novel. We are using a reputable American printer, so no need to worry about books coming (or not) from an Asian printer. In short, if our awesome fans come through for us, we will of course do the same :-)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
