I'm looking for the help from the generous Kickstarter community to create further content for the online documentary series Spraying Bricks.
I have worked in Alternative Outdoor Media for some time, recreating old, and generating new campaigns with the help of street artists. The dream was to change the advertising landscape and simultaneously create a public gallery of artist's works, endorsed by the brand in question.
As time has gone by this dream seems further and further away with increasing brand guidelines causing restriction in creativity and undermining the ability of the artist and the value of their work.
With street art still seen by some as deviant, I wanted to create a new platform for artists to expose and showcase their skills and expertise and also show the thought process and steps taken to create their art. Many people appreciate street art in all forms, however sheltered from how it was created...and that in my eyes is part of the art itself, the process as one entity. What better way than creating that very platform through an online channel.
Spraying Bricks explores beneath the surface of artistic creation. For every piece of art tells a story. Art is not just reliant on the superficial final piece, however the process, thought and meaning which creatives go through prior to the final art form.
Spraying Bricks is to showcase this process so that the rest of the world can appreciate the efforts, inspirations, trials and tribulations that creatives take to achieve their goal and eventually the end product for the public to admire.
A platform which allows already established and emerging street and graffiti artists to exhibit their work in a completely new and fresh format. By filming the piece from start to finish the audience will in some way feel connected with the artist and have more of an understanding of that particular artist style.
- Have access to artists which have never been covered before. Being able to go where other mainstream media is unable to go.
- Utilising my extensive database of artists
- Create a new online platform for artists to exhibit their work in a fresh revolutionary fashion.
- 2-3 minute video on the process accompanied with an interview with the artist.
- Some artists may wish to keep their identity hidden which in turn reflects the nature of the world.
- Release one episode a fortnight
December 2012 The Launch...
I have put all of my savings into creating 8 episodes thus far. The first episode launched on the 22nd December. The response has been overwhelming and Spraying Bricks has been mentioned by key influential blogs across the world, including the likes of Molotow - one of the worlds leading spray paint suppliers;
The goal that I am trying to achieve will allow me to film artists around the UK from all different nationalities, walks of life and artistic style for the next 6 months, releasing one episode every fortnight. By then I am hoping that the channel would have gained enough followers and subscribers to attract relative sponsorship so that I may continue to expose with great pride the work and the creativity held by many talented individuals new and old from around the world.

Risks and challenges
The main obstacle which I may be faced with if my project is successfully funded is the cooperation of the artists filmed. With my background in alternative outdoor media this is something I have to face on a daily basis. With an extensive database of artists from all walks of life I shall never be short of content to provide to the public. I have yet to come across an un-cooperative artist in my experience, however there is always a first for everything and if this was the case I have plenty of capable and equally talented artists to fill the void.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
