Post-Production for FILM LONDON short film BREATHE
£1,541

A short film about a young woman who struggles to come to terms with the death of her neighbour, by using his brother to gain closure.

BREATHE is a dark emotional character driven drama set over the course of one day and night in London. The central character is Isobel, a lonely young woman who is deeply affected when she witnesses her neighbour Matthew knocked from his bike by a van. Isobel has a secret desire for Matthew, and despite her efforts to save his life, he dies in front of her. Hours later in the dark hours of the morning she finds herself back at the scene of the accident, unable to sleep. There she meets Ciarán, Matthew’s brother, and the two spend the evening together in an attempt to soothe the guilt and grief each feels.

BREATHE is part funded by Film London and the Eastern Edge Film Fund (Walthamstow & Redbridge) as part of the 2017 slate of "London Calling" short films. But as many of you are aware, filmmaking is extremely expensive and the money received only goes someway to realising our vision. We received £4000 in funding which covered our filming costs but we now need to raise an additional £1500 for post-production.
The money raised through Kickstarter will cover editing, visual effects, the music, sound designer and grade for the film.

We need to raise the final £1500 to finish the film. If 150 people gave £10 we would easily hit our target! Even if its just you skipping your morning coffee one day this week and backing us instead. You can help us by donating whatever you can afford and spreading the word to friends and on social media. Every small donation is hugely appreciated and helps get us that bit closer to completing our film.

We have a whole host of perks on the right available for you including posters, postcards and invites to the cast & crew screening.
We have also gained support from local Walthamstow business's that have donated some E17 related perks to our campaign.

The very cool Mirth, Marvel & Maud, set in the 1930’s former Granada Cinema in Walthamstow have donated a two course meal (T&Cs at the bottom of the page)

Eat 17, the Walthamstow restaurant behind the famous Bacon Jam have donated some jammy goodies for our limited E17 DVD Hamper perk.

Working with casting director Manuel Puro we have assembled a great cast; Red Madrell as Isobel, Cian Barry as Ciarán and Christopher Foran as his older brother Matthew.

BREATHE is written and directed by Louise Marie Cooke, and it is her sixth short film.
"The initial idea for BREATHE came to me after a first aid course, and I thought about how I would react if I tried to save someone's life and wasn't able to. And then I thought what if I didn't have friends and family around me and I developed the story from there, focusing on themes that run through my previous work: obsession, desire and female sexuality"

Risks and challenges
Filmmaking is always risky but Kickstarter is all or nothing which means if we don’t reach our target, we don't get any of the money pledged... £0... which is the biggest risk of all. This means we won't be able to finish the film so we really need your help and support to see us through to the bittersweet end. Friends, family, strangers and film lovers, please unite with us and share the news about BREATHE across social media and help us reach our much needed goal, the film is in your hands....Twitter, Facebook and of course good old fashioned email and word of mouth #LDNcalling #KickstartBreathe... THANK YOU
