About this project
(Alpha is a proof of concept to showcase but it captures what we wish to deliver can achieve. The alpha was built in less than a week)
What is Sukerunton To Koi Ni?
"To love a Skeleton" is an Otome Dating simulator that puts you in a regular school setting. Except at this school, the students are Skeletons. Make friends with and fall in love through mini-games like Snake.
Sukerunton To Koi Ni takes the cliches of regular visual novels and throws skeletons all over it. Some have said that it is a blend of Hatoful Boyfriend and Skeletons with inspiration from HunniePop.
Plot Synopsis
You’ve just been accepted to Osseous Academy! What it’s full of skeletons? That’s the least of your problems. Explore the bone chilling school full of skeletal students looking for a second chance at life and love. However be warned, this school may not be such a peaceful realm.

Where would the money go?
Although we love this project, this skeleton passion, like other things, require money. The team itself has a programmer and a dedicated writer, but no artist. Even though poor Photoshop skeletons are funny, hiring a commissioned-based artist will improve the quality of the game and relieve work off the current team. Along with an Artist, the remaining funds will go to Steam fees, Engine License Fees, and of course your rewards!
- $2,000: The game can be completed at bare minimum. Good art assets and a full story is guaranteed.
- $4,000: Double the quality for double the price. This allows our devs to make this project with undivided attention. 40+hour weeks devoted to this project with will improve all aspects of the game.
- $6,000: Voice acting will be included. This also extends our budget quite a bit allowing us to pay our commissioned artist more!
- $10,000: The dream. It will reduce the price of the final product to be sold for. Left over funds will be invested for possible sequels and improvement on the developers' tech.

Characters
Meet and greet your classmates!
Makoto Saito - He’s your childhood love! Makoto died last year in a car accident. He was your childhood best friend and it’s been a really hard year without him by your side. He says he has something important to tell you, but something seems bone chillingly different about him.
Goro Oshiro - He’s too funny, or that’s what he thinks! Growing up Goro was always made fun of because he was the youngest of five brothers, but now in death he’s the one with the jokes! Help Goro on his quest to become the first skeleton comedian, and maybe there will be time for some funny bone-picking on the side.
Kenichi Hayashi - He’s nerdy and sweet! Kenichi never thought something like Necromancy could exist, but even in death he applies all his time to researching what brought him back from the grave. He needs a new assistant to help him conduct his “experiments”, but please disregard what happened to the old one!
Hayate Sugawara - He’s the oldest ladies man you’ve ever met! Hayate died over 200 years ago in France, but lying in a grave for all those years hasn’t decomposed any of his charm. Will his showers of compliments win your heart? Or can you look past them and help heal the sadness they cover up?
Takahiro Himura - He’s too cool for school and love. Takahiro is purely focused on “graduating” so he can return to the living and prove who murdered him. However, underneath his cool is a hurting soul that just wants to be loved.
Kenshin Wakahisa - He’s your teacher! Kenshin is your non-skeletal teacher who used to be dead! His maturity sure is charming, but he seems to have a dark secret that is preventing him from love. Will you win his heart or will his sinister past destroy any chance?
GamePlay
As a visual novel, the gameplay is very simple. Click or button press to progress through dialogue. The main attraction and inspiration from Hunniepop is the mini-game: Snake. To make dates interesting, players must score high in a game of snake. Based on your performance, you can seal the deal with your love or be rejected on the spot. Below are screenshots from the alpha.
Erin “IceQueenOG” (Writer, Researcher, Idea Person): This is her first video game development project! She has herself embarrassedly dabbled in the playing of other otome game, and has used that experience to write in as many cliches as possible. She has an English degree with an emphasis in Creative Writing, so she may or may not be able to write a thing or two, about a thing or two.
Louis "ATwerkingYoshi" (Programmer): This may be his first visual novel but he is an experienced game designer/programmer. Between eating doughnuts and beating games using a DDR pad, he has published two mobile games and worked on many prototypes. He also somehow has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. From Drunk Kart Racing to Peaceful Skeleton Realm: Attacked By Helicopter, his work fits this project just fine.
Risks and challenges
With many projects there come many potential risks. The main risk involves delays. Although our team can produce content, there is the chance of life keeping them from continuing the project. As this is a side project of passion, their main job comes first. If the project is successfully funded, it'll be easier for us to complete this project by allowing us to work on it more often.
Next is the handling of physical goods. There are many issues that arise when shipping out physical goods and problems are bound to happen one way or another. We have set out to make our rewards distribution our number one priority
