UPDATE #111 - News about the Artbook + New TGG Sculpts in the works

Posted by Loud'n Raging (Creator)

Dear TGG backer,

It's been a long time since we've not sent you a new update. With everything happening around TGG2, and now with our WarStages Scenery Kickstarter just launched, it would be understandable that you might feel that we have forgotten a bit about you. But this would be very far from the truth!

The Artbook

First let's talk about what is happening with the TGG Digital Artbook. First, I am truly sorry that we have not yet delivered on this Reward. For a project that should have been the simplest of the whole TGG campaign, it has turned out to be a very unexpected challenge! Mostly because we have not been able to find the graphic artist who could materialize the vision we had in mind for the entire book.

Of course we had some very good people who provided us with nice layouts, great graphic ideas, and very nice illustrations. But no one who could tackle the project from the very first page to the last one and make it all come together as a whole.

Of course, it would have been easy to simply slap together in a PDF file all the graphics and illustrations and photos that we have, and send it to you, calling it the TGG Artbook. In fact, this document exists. It is our working file for the book layout.

But it does not truly present the vision we have of the TGG universe. Some pages are great, some are OK, and some we plain don't like. So we have something that is not at the level of a Raging Heroes project.

But we haven't given up at all on this. Quite the contrary. To make up for the wait, we have decided not only to bring the project to the next level, but also expand it so that you get more out of it.

To thank you for your patience and support, and since we are now moving closer to launch our TGG Game, we have decided to turn this Artbook into something better. It will still be an Artbook, but it will be more than that, featuring additional exciting and exclusive content related to the game.

In fact, we are likely to merge the TGG1, TGG2, and TGG3 Artbooks. We will soon focus exclusively on the game, which means that we will be able to get all the resources we need to finalise this project properly.

Your Favourite Armies

For the past 2 years, we've been heavily focused on the Sisters and the Elves only, so you might be wondering if you'll ever see new Jailbirds, Iron Empire and KST troops and characters.

Well, good news, we have already finished sculpting many new models for these armies. For example...

The Jailbirds:

You thought you'd seen everything in terms of crazy skirmish wasteland post-apocalyptic troops? Well, wait 'til you see the two new Jailbirds units we've created... And there's this insane new Mecha that goes with it...

The Iron Empire:

And did you know that the people of the Iron Empire are massive opera fans? They even bring opera to the battlefield! Think Wagner meets your worst nightmare meets the Iron Empire...

Oh, and of course, you'll finally witness the rise of the very first Pharaonite demi-god!

The Kurganova Shock Troops:

As for the KST, well you've already seen previews of the Old Guard, and you'll soon discover more about characters on whom the lore of the Old Way is built. You'll also meet the other end of the KST culture: the elite fully cybernetized soldiers (with a diesel punk touch, of course) who embody the New Way in which technology transcends humans with individuals becoming part of a powerful mind network.

All the TGG factions are built in a way that is meant to allow you to give a very unique flavour to your very own army. You'll soon discover more about all the sub-factions inside each TGG “race”, each with its own identity, moral code and cultural values. But the very wide cultural range on which the KST faction is built on will certainly make it the most customisable faction of the TGG universe: the Kurgan people are moved by many different agendas and opposing interests and values.

Unlocked Heroines:

Also, you might remember that we showed concepts during the campaign that did not get unlocked or even added to the list of potential unlocks. You'll be happy to know that Zab the Hacker, Freya le Pain-Sec and the Red Baroness have all already been sculpted with Freya getting a much-needed makeover in the process.

As you probably now realise, TGG1 was the beginning of a great adventure, a full universe that is now in perpetual expansion. There is a lot more to come, and you, our TGG backers, were the ones who kickstarted it all. So we just want to say once more, from the bottom of our hearts, “THANK YOU!”

UPDATE #110 – 90% Shipped! + Address Changes + New Photos and Painted Minis + TGG Public Release + Foundry Trip

Posted by Loud'n Raging (Creator)

Over 90% of the TGG Rewards Selection have now shipped! That's over 3700 parcels!

All that's left to complete is the Large Size models, the Connoisseur Pack and the Digital Artbook.

The production of the 3 54mm Freedom Fighters and the 3 Large Size Mascots should have been done by now, but it is taking longer than expected at the foundry. Long story short, this is due to the large scale of the bodies. The foundry has had to experiment with several different techniques in order to obtain the best possible results. It now looks like the winning formula has been found, so their casting is back on track this week. This means that we are likely to receive the casts ready for shipping early next week, at which point, we'll be dispatching the remaining Rewards Selections.

The Connoisseur Pack is also expected to ship next week. All the carefully quality hand-poured minis have come in and each has been quality controlled by our staff. The 54mm Nepharya also came in late last week, and we are re-ordering a few more, as there were a couple of tiny issues that we want fixed before we ship. We have also secured special packaging, with a few items still coming in this week. We are getting the Numbered and Signed Certificate of Authenticity ready as well.

For the Connoisseur Pack, all that will be missing is the Printed, signed and numbered Artbook, which will be produced and mailed separately as soon as the Digital version of the Artbook is completed.

Maddeningly, the Digital Artbook had to be put on ice for the last month, as our collaborator for this project had to move on. We are now restaffing the position to complete this book. We will keep you posted on its progress. It is probably the project that is most dear to our heart at the moment, and one of the most fun thing we have to work on. So please be assured that this book is definitely one of our key focuses.

DID YOU MOVE?

If you have moved since choosing your Rewards and if you have not yet received your parcel, you MUST contact us immediately with your address change. You can do this via the Kickstarter message system, or via email at RagingHeroesTeam@gmail.com.

Please remember that if you changed your shipping address yourself in the Pledge Manager, we will NOT know! You must contact us so that we can change your address manually...

New Photos

Below are new photos of some of the latest models produced for the TGG Kickstarter. Also, you may be happy to hear that that we are currently preparing assembly guides for the Mechas which we plan to share with you next week, as we've received several requests for this.

New Painted Minis

Meanwhile, our painting artists are continuing their work. We hope you'll enjoy

  • Doctor Von X (IE)
  • Keela Krupps, Transmission Specialist (IE)
  • Jaheda Kano, Armoured Division Officer (KST)
  • Nertha, The Faceless Mother (IE Freedom Fighter)
  • Lieutenant Parker (JB)
  • Raven, The Chainbreaker (Freedom Fighter and Leader of the Jailbirds)
  • The KST Heavy Troopers and Command Group

Public Release of the TGG

As we are now about to conclude the shipment of the TGG Kickstarter minis, we are preparing to unleash these ladies (!) on the (perhaps unwary) general public. This will be done over the remainder of 2015 and may well stretch into the beginning of 2016.

In the coming weeks, look out for the release of Jaibirds troops as well as Kurganova Shock Troops and Iron Empire Heroines.

This upcoming scheduled release includes:

  • The Jailbirds Troops and Command Group
  • Aaqila Noyakin, Heavy Gunner (KST)
  • Karmina Noxx, Elite Sniper (KST)
  • Nurse Karoline, Field Medic (KST)
  • Kristina Karlstein Armoured Division Officer (IE)
  • Lieutenant Drakkan, Iron Storm Officer (IE)
  • W101, Cyberzombie Bodyguard (IE)

An Early Foundry Trip

As you may remember, we had planned to visit once again our US foundry this September. But as always, the gods of miniatures move in mysterious ways, and we had to get there earlier than expected.

So, we are now just back from 2 full weeks in the United States. Of course, this meant reshuffling our priorities and schedules, but the trip proved immensely productive for everyone involved, and for our backers and customers as well. You can read more about this in the upcoming Update #29 from our TGG2: Light and Darkness Kickstarter, which will be published later this week.

UPDATE #109 – Production Update + New Painted Minis + Artbook News + FAQ + Address Changes + Assembling Nepharya + ...

Posted by Loud'n Raging (Creator)

Dear TGG backer, with this 109th Update, the shore is in sight and we are nearing the conclusion of this first adventure together... Next month's Update should bring you the news that the last few remaining minis have been manufactured and shipped, but with this Update, already, the bulk of Rewards Selection have been shipped out to backers.

If you got everything but are still waiting for the Digital Artbook, please scroll down below to the Artbook section.

Don't forget that you can always keep an eye on the status of the production on this page. We update it whenever we get new stuff in, and note the date it was last modified as well. Scroll down to Wave 3: everything that's in green is in stock and shipping.

New Available Minis

Here are the models that became available this month and are currently being shipped.

  • The Jailbirds Bikes became available earlier this month and shippable
  • The KST Bikes
  • The IE Bikes
→ So all the Bikes are now in stock.
  • The Jailbirds Trike (became available earlier this month)
  • The IE Trike
  • The KST Trike (will arrive this Friday)
→ So by August 7, all the Trikes will be in stock and shippable.
  • The Mecha KST became available earlier this month
  • The Mecha JB became available earlier this month
  • The Mecha IE came in this past Monday.
→ So all the Mechas are in stock and shippable.

You will see that the Bikes, the Trikes and the Mechas are quite massive miniatures.

Regarding the Mechas, we strongly suggest that you really take your time and plan their assembly. The great thing about the joint system we created for the Mechas is that it gives you a lot of latitude for posing. But the downside is that, with so many parts, you won't be able to assemble everything to preview the pose without some elements together first... So make sure you work carefully and patiently, and possibly enlist a second pair of hands before getting out the glue...

And look for photos of the KST Bikes and IE Bikes in our next Update!

Casts in Progress

  • The KST Trike will arrive no later than Friday August 7, which means that all the Trikes will then be available.
  • The WereSheWolves (KST) are planned for around the middle of the month.

We are very excited to have the WereSheWolves at the casting stage. If you recall, they were released in the campaign as Uber-Stretch Goals, so they were not really planned to be included in the campaign at first, and even if we had had the idea for these characters way back, the concepts were actually created in the heat of the last few days of the campaign, with Alex the concept artist and Benoit the art director going back and forth like mad to finally nail down the look they were after.

We should have received their cast several weeks ago, but they proved much harder to cast than expected. So we ended up having to go back to the 3D models, split them in a new way, and send them out to the 3D printer a second time before sending them back again to the foundry for casting!

But things are not proceeding smoothly and we should be receiving the WereSheWolves casts within the next 7-10 days.

Upcoming Prototypes

This is the very last time you get to see this section on the TGG campaign, as the large size models were the very last to go into production.

The following models are being prototyped right now, and should be ready for approval this and next week. As soon as they are approved, they will be cast.

  • Freedom Fighter Raven (JB) in 54mm
  • Freedom Fighter Svetlana (KST) in 54mm
  • Freedom Fighter Nertha (IE) in 54mm
  • Mascot Harry (JB) in Large Size
  • Mascot Charlie (KST) in Large Size
  • Mascot Jinx (IE) in Large Size

In fact, all accessories and separate elements are already cast for all 6 models! Only the bodies remain to be approved and cast, which should be done within the next 10-14 days, so we should have them in stock and shippable a few days later in August.

Bigger is better!

When we received the 3D prints of the 54mm versions of the 3 Freedom Fighters and of Nepharya, we realised that, for some obscure reason, they had come out a bit larger than what we had originally measured. They were closer to the 64mm mark than the 54mm mark...

So we had a quick debate on whether to reprint them smaller, but we could not bring ourselves to do that. They looked way too cool at this larger size and, truth be said, we would probably have enjoyed having them even bigger. So we kept them as is. They are definitely EPIC!

Assembling Nepharya

We received an email message last week on how to assemble Nepharya 28mm, and we thought many of you might also find some use for this, so here goes:

You can save the image above, or grab this pdf (1Mb) (http://bit.ly/nepharya) for a handy reference.

The Artbook

We are currently hard at work on the Artbook. It will be quite a unique book as it will be composed mainly of colour double-spreads. It will provide a unique way not only to see the TGG in full fighting action, but also to get a peak into a more intimate side of their lives and culture.

Nearly every time we work on a double spread, we say to ourselves that it would make a cool T-shirt or a cool poster, so we'll be waiting for you to tell us if it is something we should do. We'll get back to this conversation as soon as we have more to show you.

Meanwhile, here's a sample of what we're currently working on.

New Painted Minis

Here is the latest set of minis to come out of the nimble brushes of our painters. As you can see, there are fewer new models than in previous updates, as part of the painting team is currently on summer holidays.

If you are interested to know how we paint the TGG minis, the colours we use, etc., you'll be happy to know that we are currently working on this. We will provide you with all this information soon, so that you can replicate the looks we've created for the TGG, if you so do wish.

FAQ

Here are some of the questions we are frequently asked via email:

What is the size of the bases?

Most TGG minis come in with 25mm bases. The details for the base are noted on on the Pledge Manager. Please note that Aleksandr Kurganov got moved up to a 40mm base instead of 25.

Are there bases with bikes, trikes and mechas?

No :( As clearly noted in the Pledge Manager, there are no bases included with those models. One of the reasons for that is that since we don't have our own game yet, and since you'll likely use these minis in various game settings, the bases we might have provided would not have done the job on many occasions.

I don't remember what's in my Rewards Selection...

No problem. Simply go to the Pledge Manager and log in. If you forgot your password, no worries, you can create another one. Then, simply go to My account>View Order Status>View Order Details.

I moved and made the address change in the Pledge Manager...

NOOOOOO!!!! WRONG MOVE!!!! As mentioned in previous Updates, you MUST contact us directly with your address change, either via Kickstarter or via email at RagingHeroesTeam@gmail.com. The changes made in the Pledge Manager are NOT automatically pushed out to the shipping department, so it is imperative that we change your address directly in our shipping software...

I'm in the Drop Ship Programme, when do I get my stuff?

If you are part of the Drop Ship Programme, it is possible that your Rewards Selection is ready to ship, but has not been dispatched yet, because the Rewards Selection of other members of the same Drop Ship location are not yet complete.

However, some of you will be happy to know that we have dispatched earlier today the Rewards Selection for the following Drop Ship locations:

  • CollecZéjeux
  • Hobby Town USA
  • Rocambole
  • Trollune
  • Uchronies
  • Vanaheim
  • Excalibur
  • Subcultures
  • TableTopShop

I have another question!

If you have any questions or concerns, the most efficient way to get them addressed is to contact us directly, either via Kickstarter or by email at RagingHeroesTeam@gmail.com. We usually respond within a day or two, except on week-ends.

Please share your thoughts on the future of your TGG

So, with the TGG campaign coming very close to the end, we want to once again thank you for your amazing support and the great feedback that continues to fill our mailbox.

We also want to start looking at the future with you. Of course, there is the TGG2 campaign, which has benefitted from all we learned in this first TGG campaign, and for which sculpting is moving along at a brisk pace. But we also want to ask you about what you want next:

How do you want to see your most favourite characters evolve? What types of new troops would you like to see come to life? Would you like us to make bigger vehicles, or do you already find what you want elsewhere?

We know that many of you want to see a TGG wargame, and we are working on one. But would you be interested in a role playing game? Or would you like a board game? (We actually already have several ideas for that, but we'd love to hear your wishes).

We look forward to your feedback!

UPDATE #108 – Production Update + New Painted Minis + A Visit to the Foundries

Posted by Loud'n Raging (Creator)

As the summer heat rolls in (on our half the globe, that is), we hope that you are getting ready from some great vacations and that you'll have plenty of time for your favourite hobby. And for those of you who are still patiently waiting for their TGG parcel, it's time to start making room on your painting shelf! The majority of remaining TGG Rewards Selection will be shipping out in the next few weeks!

For us, June has definitely been spin-casting month. The last few remaining models of the campaign are now being moulded, prototyped or cast (scroll down for details). It has also been a very special time for the core of the Raging Heroes team, as we spent several days at the spin-casting foundry (more on this below).

You'll be excited to know that we've also significantly increased the resources of the packing and shipping teams for July, as the vast majority of the remaining shipments will be dealt with during this month.

In this Update, you'll also see that the flow of painted minis is increasing, which also means that we'll soon be at a place where we can use these images for the Artbook and finish this part of the TGG project as well.

Don't forget that you can always keep an eye on the status of the production on this page: http://www.tggks.com/what-is-in-each-wave/
On it, you will see the date on which the document was last updated. We update it whenever we get new stuff in. Then, simply scroll down to Wave 3. Everything that's in green is ready to ship.

New Available Minis

Now in stock:

  • JB Artilleries 1, 2, and 3
  • KST Artilleries 1, 2, and 3
  • IE Artilleries 1, 2, and 3
  • The KST Mecha
  • The Jailbirds Motorbikes 1, 2, and 3

We assembled some Artilleries so that you can share in the fun:

To be honest, we were not so sure how our Artilleries would fare. Hadn't we created too many of them? Would they make something interesting to look at on the gaming table? In fact, right after the campaign, we thought that we had made a mistake there.

But now, that we have the casts in, our feelings got completely turned around: the Artilleries are among the most life-like and expressive sets of the whole TGG range. Not only will they make really nice-looking and vivid Artillery pieces, but it's more than that. If you want to give more life to your troops or create unique and lively dioramas, you'll definitely be able to go nuts thanks to the many servants body parts and accessories provided in the TGG Artillery kits.

And oh, by the way, you'll find that the little IE tank-like as well as the KST and JB walker-like artillery mounts look really cool in the (so-to-speak) flesh!

While visiting the foundry (more on this below), we also saw the very first KST Mechas removed from their moulds right before our eyes. We could not resist and immediately assembled one. It is a big one, with a fabulous diesel-punk feel!

 Casts in Progress

We've approved the prototypes for the following kits, and so they are currently being cast:

  • The Mecha JB (see images below)
  • The Mecha IE
  • The WereSheWolves (KST)

The guys at the foundry had a bit of time on their hand and so they got into some kit-bashing. They added KST bits to the JB Mecha and tried some alternate posing... We thought you'd like to see this and see how flexible the posing is.

Upcoming Prototypes

The following models are being prototyped right now, and should be ready for approval this and next week. As soon as they are approved, they will be cast.

  • The IE and the KST Bikes are all cast, but we are still waiting for the riders
  • The KB, KST and IE Trikes and their riders.

The Remaining Items

So this leaves us with the large-sized mascots and the 54mm models of Freedom Fighters Raven (JB), Svetlana (KST), and Nertha (IE).

If your Rewards Selection is held back because of one of these 6 models, you can contact us and we'll try to arrange something so that we can send you everything that's ready except for these models, and ship these large-sized model(s) separately for a shipping fee which we'll keep as low as we can.

New Painted Minis

They are many more minis being painted as we write this update. But in the set below, we definitely think that Foxy and Elektra steal the show. What do you think ?

→ Foxy Dynamite, Jailbirds Infiltration Specialist

→ Commander Elektra Eisenstein, Armoured Division (KST)

→ Ash, Tank Gunner and Lucky Lucy, Spotter (Jailbirds)

→ Iron Empire Heavy Troop Box (remember that everything is ball-jointed for maximum 'posability', and each box contains many extra items for ultimate customisation)

→ Iron Empire Regular Command Group Box (remember that everything is ball-jointed for maximum 'posability', and each box contains many extra items for ultimate customisation)

Visiting the Foundries

As mentioned earlier, our key activity this month was visiting our partner foundries, which meant travelling abroad.

Spin-cast resin KST Mechas
Spin-cast resin KST Mechas

We first went to the United States to visit our spin-cast resin foundry. We stayed there several days and got to know each other and learned more about each other's processes. We then moved on to the United Kingdom and visited our metal foundry.

We cannot thank them enough for the warm welcome with which we were greeted. It was great to finally meet in the flesh the people who've all worked so hard to produce all the TGG1 miniatures, and it was quite special to see our creations be cast and be removed from the moulds before us.

We had never before allowed ourselves the time away from the studio to make this trip. In the end, it was incredibly worth it, and just a few days later, now that we are back, we are already seeing positive results. And so, we will likely do a follow-up trip later this year.

That's all for today

So once again, we wish you a great summery July. We will continue to work hard on the TGG so that everything is ready as quickly as possible.

As mentioned above, don't forget that you can always keep an eye on the status of the TGG production on this page: http://www.tggks.com/what-is-in-each-wave/  On it, you will see the date on which the document was last updated. We update it whenever we get new stuff in. Then, simply scroll down to Wave 3. Everything that's in green is ready to ship.

And if you want to know more about what's going on at Raging Heroes, we are posting a new cool update on the TGG2 kickstarter (Update #26) within the next couple of hours.

Thank you for your continuing support and please don't hesitate to send us pics and feedback about your TGG minis.

UPDATE #107 – Production & Shipping Update + New Painted Minis + Packing your Rewards Selection + Open-the-box Videos

Posted by Loud'n Raging (Creator)

Production is going well. New models are being cast regularly now, and as soon as we receive new casts which can complete your Rewards Selection, we pack it and ship it right away.

The foundry is smoking hot. The latest production schedule is now quite firm. Keep reading to see where things stand as of today.

New Available Minis

We have received the following minis in spin-cast resin, which means all the Heroines have now been produced and cast in both metal and spin-cast resin:

  • Arushka (KST Yaga)
  • Baba Yaga (KST Yaga)
  • Aleksandr Kurganov, Chief Commander of the KST
  • Nepharya, Necro-Priestess (IE)
  • Doctor von X, Field Medic (IE)
  • General Ilsa Wolfenstein, Army Commander (IE)

And 2 new sets of 5 minis also came in and are being shipped out to backers right now:

  • The 5 Cyberzombies (IE)
  • The 5 Jet-Pack Girls (IE)
Keep reading to learn how to create a dynamic squad
Keep reading to learn how to create a dynamic squad

Regarding the Jet Pack Girls, we wanted to share a tip with you regarding their basing:

When you'll receive them, you'll notice that the rocks they stand on is never completely flat underneath. This was done on purpose, to help you create different flight angles for the girls.

To do this:

  • 1. Be sure to cut off the tab that is located under the rock.
  • 2. Visually test the angle you prefer.
  • 3. File the underside of the rock to implement the angle that you chose.

This way, you can create a dynamic and unique flight formation for your squad. If you don't do this, the Jet Pack Girls will simply stand upright in a very neutral attitude, which would be a shame for such a team of sky aces.

Casts in Progress

We've approved the prototypes for the following kits, and so they are currently being cast:

  • All JB Artillery
  • All KST Artillery
  • All IE Artillery

Upcoming Prototypes

The following models are being prototyped right now, and should be ready for approval this and next week. As soon as they are approved, they will be cast right after the Artilleries. They are:

  • The Jailbirds Bikes
  • The Jailbirds Mecha
  • The KST Mecha
  • The Iron Empire Mecha
  • The WereSheWolves (KST)

The Remaining Items

So this leaves us with:

  • The IE and KST Bikes and Trikes
  • The Jailbirds Trike
  • The 54mm models

The prototyping for these models will happen throughout the month of June. Casting is likely to run into July, but we'll push hard to make things happen as quickly as we can. We will keep you informed as soon as we have more news on this.

New Painted Minis

We've got two Russian and one Spanish painter hard-at-work on the TGG models, but painting models with this quality takes time, and so we will continue to expand our painting team. Painters who can meet our quality expectations are welcome to send us an email with a link to their portfolio at jobs 'at' ragingheroes 'dot' com.

Packing and Shipping the TGG

The packing team has been working like mad and will continue non-stop until fulfilment ends. Every day, they prepare and ship out 40 to 80 packages. Here's a few snapshots I grabbed while they were working, so that you can get a better feel for how your parcel is being prepared.

Large Rewards Selection are processed by 2 packers: one reads the list out loud while the other picks the minis; we also note the number of bases needed for the complete package.
