What's It About?
An ambitious boy trying to make something of himself...
Why this story?
Addiction, poverty, and crime... seen through the eyes of a young boy on the cusp of adulthood. Amidst the glamorization of gang violence, 'Loudmouth' is a story of belonging and acceptance. It is a tale of innocence lost. It is a parable for the consequences to certain actions. LOUDMOUTH is a tragic yet honest story that presents the classic struggle of who you are vs. who you want to be.

A Unique Style, Cast, & Setting
Real lives and real stories...
This story is inspired by my time working on documentaries. In the impoverished and gang heavy west and south side of Chicago. It was during that time in Chicago, while I was listening to kids’ stories, that I realized I needed to make a narrative film that showcased their conditions. After writing the script we workshopped the narrative at a boot camp in Arkansas with high-risk kids who have been involved with gangs. It is the young men of the boot camp who will ultimately inform this narrative.
LIMITED EDITION LOUDMOUTH WATERCOLOR ART By Lisa Krannichfeld!! Signed!!!
We've teamed up with the incredibly talented casting directors John Williams and Karmen Leech who have an unorthodox approach to finding talented individuals who are non-actors. They have cast for other filmmakers such as David Gordon Green and Terrence Malick. We are happy to say that we have cast the majority of our characters and they are all individuals who have true experiences that they can bring to this narrative.
Gangs of the rural south...
So often in films, gangs are displayed in large urban cities and although this is true, we don't get to see how gang activity in rural settings exist. LOUDMOUTH aims to change this. We are planning to shoot on location in parts of the Delta in Arkansas.
What do we need to make this project happen?
We have an exceptionally talented core crew who will be traveling from all parts of the country to take part in LOUDMOUTH. This is a passion project for us however we will need funds to cover the bare minimum to allow us to make this film a reality. Gas, food, and lodging expenses to keep our cast and crew happy. In addition, we will need finances to cover special equipment rentals, film/camera costs and development, location rentals, post production, distribution etc...
Shooting on Filmstock...
We plan to shoot some of this film on 35MM film stock and the generous folks at KODAK are helping us with this ambitious goal. Of course shooting on film requires a more disciplined filmmaker - one who has planned the shots proactively as opposed to one who can shoot an endless amount of footage on a digital hard drive. Shooting on film stock is certainly expensive but we will do this with discipline. Dustin Lane, an accomplished commercial and music video cinematographer will serve as our Director of Photography. He’s experienced in shooting a variety of film formats and we’ve already begun to create the visual language of our film. Take a look at his stunning reel!
Growing up in America as the son of Pakistani immigrants, I have seen untold American stories and I have loved and appreciated films that tell these stories. My time working under internationally recognized journalists Brent & Craig Renaud and critically acclaimed filmmaker David Gordon Green has taught me that storytelling should showcase subjects often overlooked and people who are often voiceless; stories from that untold America. Roger Ebert defined film as a machine that generates empathy and I couldn’t agree more. As a child, I first became attracted to filmmaking as a storytelling tool. I love film’s ability to provide a glimpse into other people’s lives and narratives, and how it allows us to be more compassionate to one another. LOUDMOUTH, our feature narrative film, will do exactly that. I’ve assembled a team of excellent and hardworking individuals whose artistic sensibilities and logistical knowhow will bring LOUDMOUTH to life, which we plan to shoot for 3-4 weeks beginning in mid-July of 2015.
