Have a question?
I am now taking orders! Email me at email@example.com with what you want and I'll get you a quote. Kickstarter backers get a discount.
Jesse, I need more counter magnets! When will you be taking orders? :-)
I need more counter magnets!!! When are we going to be able to order more or different sizes? My games are screaming for attention. LOL. I hope we get a chance soon to order some more of theses cool accessories. Eddie
Do many things get declared/taxed by raw material value? I can't imagine trying that for boardgames, books, CDs, .... Maybe jewellery?
Thanks for the fast reply. I see your point and I agree with your honesty. Yet I fail to see how declaring the unassembled parts (plastic + magnets) at their raw market value would have hurt your financial honesty. Even now the customs are probably wondering how crazy I must have been to pay $300 for a fist of rare earth magnets and 1 pound of plastic. I acknowledge your intellectual and designing efforts and I shelled without a question the extra funds for that during the KS. In exchange, since counters came unassembled, I did hope in some form of downplayed custom declaration, which honestly is not far from the raw reality. Anyhow, what's done is done an past the final sore price I am looking forward into assembling and using them.
@ Alex and all international customers.
I am legally obligated to declare the value of the item on customs forms. The amount paid is the value for these items. I understand VAT can be a lot and I would be happy to partner with someone in Europe to manufacture and ship the Counter Magnets to avoid it. Meanwhile, I will declare the paid value on all international shipments.
I have received the magnets but to my surprise the customs taxes were huge (more than $50) since you declared the package value as my pledge level not the basic value of the plastic and the magnets. Very painful I may say. Oh well, it is what it is.
Thanks, Jesse. Received my shipment last week and I'm going to try out the assembly of the counter magnets today or tomorrow. Assuming it goes well, I'm sure I'll be interested in ordering more. Thanks again!
Things are coming along. One printer is down waiting for replacement parts, but the other is churning them out. I have 3 colors left to print in, so I'm hoping the replacement parts will speed that up. Thank you all for your patience.
Hi Jesse, how are things looking in regards to bigger shipments? Thanks.
Please include set of dies in my shipment. Mark Lacerenza
@Mark -- I sent you an email from countermagnets [at] gmail.com. Feel free to contact me there.
Could you please add a die for the watch press for me. Also please let me know the best way to reach you, as I wanted to add some things to the order if possible. You should have my contact information.
Thanks so much,
@Peter -- Will do.
@All -- Still busy filling Kickstarter rewards. I am coming up on 70% shipped and still going strong!
dear jesse, could you please add a die for the watch press for me, if the counter-magnets are not already on there way to germany.. I found mine on amazon.de it looks very similar to your model in the video: Berger & Schröter Glas- und Bodeneinsetzzwinge
Arrived in Dublin today. Thanks Jesse.
@Carrick -- Send me a message here on Kickstarter and we can discuss the model you are planning on getting etc.
Can you send me the die for use with the watch press?
Thanks for the update. We are all excited by what you have created and I look forward to repeat orders in the future! Continued good luck in your venture.
30% have been shipped. Getting the printers back in shape after the breakdown (and subsequent preventative maintenance of the other one) took longer than expected. They are humming along right now and as they fill-in the various holes in sizes/colors, orders will come together quickly.
Thank you for your patience everyone!
Just wanted to find out the latest on shipping of the counter magnets? What percentage have gotten them? Hoping to see mine soon. :)
My fault for not explaining that tool. Check the latest update for an explanation!
Picked up mine in the UK yesterday. Managed to break the tool that helps insert the magnets already :-(
Arrived in France. Thank you.
Arrived in Denmark today. Thanks.
There will be an update tomorrow!
@Jesse -- thanks for the update. Piecemeal ship date is fine by me. Whatever time it takes for you to focus on quality, that's fine by me. I know you are making good progress on delivery, so I'm not concerned.
Clear is by far the winner, with Black and White coming in a distant 2nd and 3rd. I'll be sure to source the best clear I can!
@Jesse. Sorry...the URL is in your update. Never mind!
@Jesse -- I'm sorry. I can't find the email anymore that had the link to your survey. Can you resend to me, please? Thanks! P.S. Can you share with us what color most folks are ordering? I'm wondering if Clear option is not a popular choice.
Sounds good enough to me. I don't expect it to be perfectly clear, but I figure that's the least distracating color to go with, especially when viewing the map from afar. I'll submit my survey answer now to go with that...
@John - I take it back, after playing with some clear tests for that picture, you can indeed make out color differences in the map very slightly. Like looking through a foggy window. Anyway, I hope that update clears it up!
@John - Clear is not really clear enough to see the map through. I'll have a couple pictures up shortly.
@ALL - This survey is just a gauge of color interest. I will be getting samples or rolls of every color someone picks and will have pictures of the final product up for order finalization. If you said 8 sets of clear and you like light grey better when you see the pictures, that's fine!
Jesse -- question on the colors. I was going to go "old school" and stick with a neutral magnet color so the counters themselves are the only color for the maps. How good a quality is the "clear" color for the magnets? If only one is stacked in a hex, can you actually see the underlying map features? Or is it more of a cloudy look?
If you recommend against clear, I'm going to go most likely with all WHITE for my magnets. Just curious if the clear option would look good if I want the focus on the colors to be the counters rather than the magnets. I know I have to answer the poll by tomorrow.
@Riccardo - See the comment I made in the update.
I do not understand what the survey monkey is asking me. Please give us some guidance. It is extremely confusing
Thanks Jesse. You were already clearly clear that clear meant translucent, and that sounds clearly good to me. I hope to use them for a range of games, so matching counter colours is not really an option. The black/white combo sounds like another good possibility. I guess I need to think about it some more.
@Con - Let me clarify (no pun intended). Clear is not really clear. I will use a plastic that starts as clear, but after printing ends up being more of a translucent white. It is possible to get it clearer, and I'll try, but no promises.
As for color choices...clear, natural, white, grey and black are good. Black and white tend to frame the counter a bit, while the others will blend a bit more. If you have a specific game in mind, having the Counter Magnets match the counters looks really nice and helps differentiate sides even more (just having black and white works well too).
On choice of colours, I would like to hear what others are thinking. My first thought is to get all Clear/Translucent for maximum flexibility, and rely on the colours of the counters themselves to distinguish between the sides? Does anyone see benefits to a different approach?
@Wayne - Thank you! I hope people enjoy them. Now people can play monster games somewhere other than at conventions!
@John - No worries. I'll be using Backerkit (or equivalent) so it will be easy to choose accessories or add some on.
I'm unable to increase my pledge to add extras from my iPhone. I'll do it when campaign ends.
10,000!!!!!! Way to finish strong Jesse. I suspect once these get out into the broader community and people start seeing pictures and videos using these you will have a lot more business.
@Alex -- I will be using a pledge manager, so you can add funds for the extras later.
I may have not been very clear on my previous question. Can we add funds in the pledge manager after the KS campaign is over or do we have to do it now?
I am all in:). Will you have a Pledge Manager later on where we could add more sets should we wish so?
On the DIY delivery timeline, I'm personally not in a mad rush to receive them and prefer you take whatever time is necessary to get it done right. Thanks.
Heh, looks like you knocked me off as the #2 Google link for "game counter magnets". (BGG is still #1.) I upped my pledge to Standard. Good luck.
@John - Thank you very much! I hope that people find many uses for these and that availability (and the ability to make them yourself) will help them spread.
Actually, being the host of CSW Expo, I see this as a good idea and use for promoting and exhibiting games at events. Exhibitor space usually includes access to a back wall to place things on, or one can always place a magnetic white board on an easel. I've updated my twitter feed to let folks know there are just a few days left of your campaign. Perhaps folks may also use your system to shoot game videos for youtube. We'll see...lots of possibilities.
