Have a question?
They will of course be going out to backers before anyone else can get copies. We've been very clear about that.
I guess. I wish you could ship them to people who paid instead of going out to those who didn’t....
@Wesley: If you look at our updates, you can see where the game is. The tl;dr version: We have begun the process of sending it to the printer and are going back and forth with them on files. We think we may have some copies to show off at PAX East, and hope to begin fulfillment in a few months. I hope that helps.
So how’s production coming ? We getting the game any time soon or?
@Michael: You're welcome!
Mini-American sleeves should fit perfect. Thanks!
@michael: I think you have at least a month. Just send us a note when you know.
@Dave: Thanks. We definitely want Thornwatch to be the best game it can be.
Bummed that the game is still many months away from being shipped but excited for it whenever it DOES arrive. Glad the creators are taking their time to make it the best game possible rather than rushing it out the door to meet a deadline.
I’m in between addresses. I don’t know where I’ll be living this year. What is the deadline for address changes?
An update about printing Thornwatch is here:
@Michael and @Jari: We checked. They're 41.5mm x 63mm. They should fit in all mini euro-size sleeves.
We'll check on that with the printer. Thanks.
So in order to sleeve the small cards I'll need mini euro size sleeves and need to trim ~5mm from the top?
Not all of them. Some are mini cards at 44x63mm.
Are all of the cards standard card size, 63.5 mm x 88 mm?
@Gerardo: To update your address email us at info (at) our company name.com with your email address, old shipping address, new shipping address and phone number and we will get you taken care of.
Hey, is there any way of changing the address? I've tried the pledge manager and it's locked.
I think we had our last playtest today, and changed almost nothing. So now it's a matter of getting it finished in file management, printed, and shipped. We'll let folks know when we know how long that will take.
Sounds like some people have forgotten that Kickstarter isn't Amazon. If you wanted a game by next Friday, or any date for that matter, you should have bought one that was already made.
I'm not thrilled with delays either, but at least they're not saying "It'll be done when it's done." Still very much looking forward to playing.
@Michael: Much appreciated. We definitely don't want it to be a year longer, though.
I’d rather have an amazing game that takes a year longer than to have a game on time that falls short. As much as I want to play it, I know it’s worth the wait.
@Brian: We get it. We're making a very big, very good game here. It's taking a while. But finishing the files in graphic design is a huge step. And we're going to get it to you as soon as we can.
@Robert: In the November 14 update I directly said:
Now, just to temper expectations, there is a giant gap between "We've finished in graphic design" and "We're printing the game." This is the point where we can start the process of getting the game into its printable file formats and into a printer's hands. It definitely takes months, but how many months is unknown at this point. So if you ask us at PAX Unplugged, "When is the game coming out?" we're still going to shrug and say we don't know. But next week, we'll be ready to start the process of finding out."
Two weeks later, I'm saying the same thing. Your speculation on dates isn't based on anything, and neither is mine. When our printer tells us, we'll tell you. That's how this works. What I can say is that this week, we're ready to start on final file prep, as soon as we settle on the specifications of that preparation. We are doing exactly what @Brian is saying: not making promises without information. The end result is that the game will be in our hands when it gets here, and then you'll get it. Till then, I appreciate your patience.
In your last update you implied that the game would be out in a couple of months, in this update you say that "at the next panel we'll have a better idea of when it might be available", and that panel is a couple of months away!
So, what? We're looking at the middle of next year now?!? In the original campaign you set a target date of September 2017 and here you are three months past it without ever having acknowledged it as well as tacking more months on to the project with every single update!
Based on the verbiage at the end of the last update, I'm guessing we're looking at a June, 2018 release.
If this were a one-time, unforeseen delay, I'd understand. But The Ninth World isn't even close to shipping yet, either, and Apocrypha was also over a year late as well.
All we ask is for you to be honest up front, and not set expectations that you can turn around a game in a certain time frame, only for them to consistently be more than a year late. Set the expectation up front that "this isn't even close to done, this is an idea, the art isn't done, the playtesting isn't done, so we're looking at shipping sometimes in 2019."
I'd rather be told that it's going to take a longer than typical time due to issues with printing and art than be told that you'll have it pumped out in less than a year, when you've NEVER gotten a game out the door in that time.
Here's an update with video from PAX Unplugged and an update on where we are with the lockdown of the game's content.
And why not share videos of the panels on unplugged? You do realize there are quite alot of people that can't attend?
So... a month behind schedule which isn't a biggie but the lack of updates explaning why is a bit annoying. I mean even if you can't say when the printing is done... why not share some pictures of the printing process or behind the scenes or... anything!
@Michael: We'll make an announcement about that when we finalize the game with a printer.
Is there a final card count for the core/expansion? And card size/sizes?
Are we still able to change shipping addresses? I tried to go into the pledge manager and change my shipping address since I have moved, but the pledge manager said it was locked and could not be edited. Thank you very much.
New update about The Dark of the Wood wrapping up in graphic assembly and our plans for PAX Unplugged. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/loneshark/thornwatch/posts/2043120
Sad to still be waiting, but waiting patiently none the less. I've backed all 4 Reaper Miniatures Bones kickstarters, so I'm more than accustomed to long lead times for the good stuff to finally show up on my doorstep.
Just keep us updated.
No. Our goal is to wrap it up on our side shortly, then see when our printers can get it done. That's a complex process, and we never speculate on the outcome until we hear a return date from our printer.
Any idea when you'll actually be shipping this game? :)
Here's an update on Dark of the Wood's progress, PAX Aus, and a laid-out rulebook.
Thanks for the info, will be waiting
Yup. We'll be sending out one later today.
Hey guys, any updates?
Thank you very much for the open lines of communication, even when its just to say "nope, we still don't know yet". Having gone through a few campaigns that were totally silent, its really appreciated.
Right is better than Fast, thanks for the reply...
@Lone Shark Games Sweet action!
Sometime this month, we expect. Just gotta get some things right.
Are you closer to knowing, ballpark-wise, when DotW will be completed?
We are waiting for Dark of the Wood to be completed before we ship the Core Set out.
I have a shipping question. Are you waiting for Dark of the Woods to be completed before you ship both items out, or are you planning on shipping the core first while you continue work on Dark of the Woods? I'm pretty sure I have not seen this answered anywhere, but I apologize if this is a repeat.
Just watched the Pax update. I want to cry. This looks absolutely amazing and I can't wait to play it with my gaming group. Thanks everyone!
Here's a video and slideshow of our panel at PAX West, including all the new stuff we revealed. Be sure to check out The Dark of the Wood's heroes at the end.
