Yes, but it hasn't gotten to our fulfiller yet. We hope to know more this week.

We've gotten a few requests for address changes from our non-North American backers. If anyone from those regions has anything to tell us about their address, please go here and do so right away!

Wow... am I the only one who's massively disappointed in the quality of the components? Complete trash thin cardboard instead of card stock... brutal

      @jonathan: glad to hear it!

Received my copy in Yellowknife yesterday. Shipping was much quicker than expected! The game looks great, Mike's artwork is beautiful and the complaints I saw about the quality of the components is unfounded: They look and feel exactly as I would expect. The plastic player pieces are especially nice. I hope to give the game a try soon!

Hey there! I got a problem. My deluxe box came with a big customs charge for some reason. I sent a email to the address listed in the FAQ several weeks ago but I never got a response. Is there a better email address I can send my concerns to?

    11. Lone Shark Games 5-time creator

Update: We believe Canada fulfillment is completely done (that is, it has left our fulfiller's warehouse, not necessarily that it has arrived everywhere). So we're pulling off the embargo there and letting retailers display their copies.

Clarification on my last comment: Early July I reported my issue, received a response and I was told the issue would be taken care of, but it hasn't been and any follow up I have sent has thus far been met with silence.

Would just really like to hear anything at this point.

    23. Mike Kwolek on

American backer here, still haven't gotten my copies of the game yet. Sent an email last month, which said that the issue would be taken care of. Have yet to see a shipping notification and I sent a follow up message on here, an email and tweeted at you a week ago and still haven't heard anything back. I know GenCon was this week, but still this is ridiculous since I should have at the very least received the game a few weeks ago. As a retail backer, this issue is doubly frustrating as now people can buy the game anywhere instead of me despite my early investment in the game.

Am very disappointed in the lack of communication and follow-through, especially since I was so excited to support this game. Any update for this issue at all?

Toronto, received today. Had to comment on quality. Yes some of the cardboard chips fray abit on pop, just be careful. Otherwise the cardboard is all plenty thick. The cards themselves, folks go open a box of pathfinder, cause THAT was the low standard I was expecting. The cards in Thornwatch are shiny stock, plenty thick, way better than I thought.

Add in the sheer TON of cardboard tokens and just spectacular artwork, game is easily worth the cost. Now go play it, judge and review it on the gameplay, the physical bits are NOT an issue.

A big update on Gabe's thoughts on Thornwatch's US debut, fulfillment coming to an end in Canada, non-North American shipping, and a Gen Con mega-adventure.

We appreciate those kind words, and we also appreciate your desire to get your games as soon as possible. We want that too.

Yep, just wanted to update, less than 24 hours after my past comment, just got my notification from Snakes and Lattes that it's shipped. Thanks to Lone Shark Games for keeping us posted on the delays and such; retaliatory tariffs aren't something you're to blame for, nor could you have foreseen this back when promises were first being made as to scheduling. No complaints thus far.

With any luck they'll send me two copies like they did with Dinosaur Island. ;)

I don't often comment, so here we go. As much as I am excited to play this game, let's be honest, no one at Lone Shark Games is at fault for trade negotiations, printing problems and shipping problems. The honesty that I've gotten from their answers is much better than most other late to ship kickstarters.

Does it suck that things are delayed? Of course, but we are nerds, aren't we use to waiting to get the things we want?

Thanks so much for the response.

    35. Barry on

Thanks for the update. I hope to see my copy soon, and when it arrives I'm looking forward to playing it.

    36. Lone Shark Games 5-time creator

Sorry, we were at Gen Con and didn't see these comments.

The game is only being allowed in retail in the US as of yesterday. That's because we have been told that the game has been entirely fulfilled in the US]. So the embargo is lifted there.

Many of our Canadian packages have shipped. We are told by our fulfiller in Canada that they should all be fulfilled in a couple of days. We have told them not to supply retail outlets in Canada (other than our retail backers) until they are all fulfilled in Canada. We have now delayed the release three times because of slower-than-expected fulfillment, and we will do so a fourth if we have to, as nothing is more important to us than fulfilling our backers' orders first in each country.

The retaliatory tariffs (and the US tariffs that provoked the understandable retaliation) are doing all sorts of damage at the ports. At this point we can't even tell how much they affected us, but it definitely slowed us down and cost us more. Information is very hard to come by. But at this point we know where all the copies in Canada are. Many are sent to customers and others are still in the queue. We expect there will be a complete fulfillment by Monday and we can lift the Canadian embargo then. But not before.

As for Australia and Europe, we are still waiting for boats to land. There will not be any copies sent to non-backers in those regions, nor will retailers be allowed to deliver them to customers, until fulfillment ends in each of those regions.

On Apocrypha, we most assuredly did not release copies before backers got theirs in a given country. What did happen was that about 60 damaged copies got to the UK and were released as damaged goods without our permission or knowledge. We owned up on that, because we should have demanded more transparency from our fulfillers. This is different. We've said what our expectations were: the game would be opened for preorder in the US and Canada on July 10th (after it became obvious that our US fulfiller would not be done by then), and then we would fulfill those orders when the US and Canada backers had all been sent theirs. We are days away from that, so we have released the US preorders and will release the Canadian ones as soon as we hear the last package has gone out.

We do not own a fulfillment house, or a freight company, or a customs depot. All we can do is tell you that we sent everything where it needed to go to get to you. When we have information, we will share it as soon as we know it. We're sorry when things take longer than we intend. Sometimes we can rectify that. With shipping 10,000 copies of games, we can only do so much. Thanks for your continued patience as we try to get through all this.

They already delayed the release once, I think Lone Shark have been very good about their Kickstarter responsibilities. At least in comparison to other Kickstarters I've backed. Being in the Northwest Territories, I'll probably get my copy after everyone else in Canada, but that's the nature of shipping. If you can walk into a game store in your city and pick up a copy of Thornwatch today, I'd be surprised. You can order online right now, but our copies will get to us before those ones get to any other Canadian customers, because they'll be dealing with similar timing. What would you expect Lone Shark to do? Not release a game until all the backers check in? That's unreasonable. Games will arrive for most of you in the next few days. I'm not expecting mine until the end of August. >.>

      James on

@Barry, No it won't change my enjoyment at all. If I had an idea of when my copy should arrive I would be ok. At this point they haven't even provided tracking numbers to us or Lone Shark. I don't think it's unreasonable for the Canadian fulfillment partner to keep us in the loop.

    43. Blaine Lapierre on

No, but your excitement and anticipation can be invalidated when expectations are let down.

In this case, due to unforeseen customs issues (seriously- who could have seen retaliatory tariffs on playing cards and board games being put in place when we backed three years ago?) probably have more to do with it than poor planning or scheduling.

What this does do, however, is make it less likely for non-US backers to participate in crowd funding of board games if retail release dates come before backers receive their copies.

PS - no information received re: shipping/tracking in Alberta either.

    44. Barry on

I'm confused. Does waiting a couple extra days for your copy to arrive somehow invalidate your enjoyment of the game?

Feeling the same James. Happened with Apocrypha kickstarter too. I guess the lesson is Canadians shouldn't back Lone Shark Games because it is faster to buy it from physical stores.

I live an hour outside Toronto and it sucks to see the game being announced as going on sale right now when i don't even have a tracking number yet. People buying the game today are going to be receiving the game before me when i pledged almost two years ago.

    47. Lone Shark Games 5-time creator

@Thomas: Our backers in British Columbia are the ones we feel the sorriest for: Your games went from Massachusetts to Seattle to Toronto to British Columbia. We are really sorry about that, but it's what we needed to do given how many games in all our places were signed.

@Eric: You should have it before then, as we are shipping from Snakes & Lattes. (No, seriously, don't go there and ask them for it. It'll be out the door to you very soon.)
