shipping progress and a Ninth World release date
We're excited to say that shipping for The Ninth World is well underway. tl;dr: Shipping should mostly be completed next week, we're bringing the game to Origins, and we're releasing it to the public on June 20th.
The items we are shipping out are games, Beyond Packs, promo cards, and playmaps (with some of the latter signed by the design team). According to our fulfillers, this is what we know, from "actually done" to "not quite as done."
Shipping from Australia is done
All parcels are in transit to our Australian and New Zealand backers.
We're close to done with our Asian backers as well, though there are some complexities on these. We should have those finalized within a week or two, and will let those backers know when we have final results.
Shipping from the EU is underway
All orders from the UK and the rest of the EU have been submitted and product has been allocated for shipment. Backers should receive preshipment notifications and all parcels should be dispatched in transit by June 13th.
Shipping from the United States starts Monday
Fulfillment in the United States will start Monday and be completed with all parcels in transit with tracking info sent by June 13th.
This group includes the majority of our retailer backers, who should look below for details on the release date. We are sending retailers the games, playmaps, and promos in this shipment, and plan to contact each of you with more details after we get all this out.
Shipping from Canada starts in a week or two
Unfortunately, the one area that will take us the longest is delivering to our neighbors to the north in Canada. The shipments had to bounce off our fulfillment warehouse in Florida. They are being prepared and should depart for Canada within a week, and then be sent out starting the next week. This is the region in which details are the most opaque for us, so we'll try to get more information as soon as we can. (And for our friends in B.C.: No, sadly, we can't drive it up from Seattle.)
We head to Origins next week
A while back, we arranged for copies of the game to head to our booth at the Origins Game Fair, which starts June 14th in Columbus, Ohio. Origins is a big deal in the US—it's where companies show off the games they're releasing in the summer. So obviously, with the game ready to go, we can't miss that.
Our goal was to have fulfillment done by that day and release the game to the public on that day as well. We'll be THISCLOSE—likely done with AUS, US, and UK fulfillment, but not Canada—so we're calling our booth debut at Origins a "limited presale." If you're going to be at the show, and you missed out one of our products or just want to play the game with us, come by booth #235. Our booth will be next to our partners at Monte Cook Games. So if you want anything Numenera-related to go with your Ninth World game, that's a great place to get it.
Speaking of summer cons, this is a great time to remind you that we're running Ninth World events at Gen Con! If you're going, take a look over here and sign up!
The game releases to the public on June 20th
We should be all done, or at least have only a few international copies outstanding, about two weeks from now, so we picked the middle of that week to lift the embargo on the game and the playmap being sold by retailers. If you're a retailer and you got one of our retail bundles, you can start selling its contents on June 20th. We're telling all our retailers and distributors that they cannot release the game to the public any earlier than that. Copies should be showing up to US distributors shortly, and they are permitted to release them to their retail stores as soon as they can.
After June 20th, all copies should be out to customers, and on shelves in US game stores. Thanks to everyone who helped us get to this point. It's been a long and difficult journey, but we think you'll like the game when it gets to you. Thanks again from all of us Sharks.
