Went to editing this week. More info soon!
How is the Theseus Guide coming?
Big news about a Humble Puzzle Bundle, including the upcoming Theseus Guide to the Final Maze. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/loneshark/the-maze-of-games-an-interactive-puzzle-novel/posts/1634839
Maze of Games Second Edition news!
In case you didn't see it, an announcement about the very last 1st edition copies of The Maze of Games:
Tom: Download the Puzzazz app on your iPad or iPhone and log in with the email you used on the Kickstarter campaign. If that's not your email address you want to use, send us a message.
I ordered the eBook and I have no idea where or when I was supposed to get it. Can you help me out on getting that?
There is not. When we get any positive news from Puzzazz about the Android version of their platform, I promise you we will share it with you guys. Until we do, we won't have anything to say about Android that we haven't said before.
So is there any sort of update on the Android version?
That is really flattering, Christopher. Thanks!
For those who read the comments of prior products to gauge whether to kickstart future works:
I would back a project from LoneSharkGames again. The product was astonishingly high quality. It was late, yes, but I suggest giving every Kickstarter project you back a year buffer as the people who do kickstarters are usually artists and not accomplished business people.
Sometimes when I read the comments to old kickstarter projects I have a hard time gauging whether the thing succeeded or not. I don't know if everyone thinks this particular project was a success, but I certainly do.
If you are looking to purchase this product, I will warn you that these puzzles are very difficult. If you are newer to puzzle solving you may want to warm up elsewhere. For example, you could pick up PuzzleCraft, also made by Mike Selinker, which is probably the best puzzle book in at least a decade.
Ben: We don't have a timeline for Android from Puzzazz, except that they're working on it. We don't have any more information than that.
Jrd: We found the error. We will follow up by email.
I'm still missing my Puzzazz eBook. I've contacted firstname.lastname@example.org SEVEN TIMES going back to late October. I've been ignored six of those times, and blown off once. What do I need to do to get my ebook code?
Ok...but when is the next scheduled update from Puzzazz? They've not responded to their facebook page in a month and a half, and there's no indication of what kind of timeline they've provided you.
Even if you're caught at their mercy, let us know what they told you, and when they anticipate their next update. Something. Right now, we're getting what amounts to an electronic shrug.
Barmalev: We would love to have the Android version too. We haven't seen any progress on it, but we expect it will be great whenever it happens.
Have you received any word from Puzzazz whether they're working on an Android version at all? Sadly, since Puzzazz saying 1.5 years ago that the Android version was in alpha, I cannot find any further indication of any upcoming Android support from them whatsoever, not just for the Maze of Games. Would love to see anything to the contrary.
Mabel: We have followed up with Penny Arcade on this.
Tobias: We haven't received any information from Puzzazz that tells us when the Android book is going to be available.
Any news on an Android version of the ebook?
I still have not received the hard copy of my book.
Lastofthedaves: Sending now.
I still haven't gotten my pdf of the book. I sent out an email about it in July but haven't gotten a response.
Will do, thanks.
Hi! I got my ebook and am very pleased.I sat down to just test that it worked and couldn't stop solving puzzles for a couple of hours!
One suggestion: perhaps send a KS update that the emails have gone out. Mine was in my junk email folder and it was by pure chance that I noticed it.
Yes, we are definitely interested in such things. And yes, those things are sure different. There are lots of little differences designed to make solving better on the app, but that kind of thing is not what we want.
Here is a list of things we intentionally changed:
How to Use This Book: We changed "The Quest Begins" to "the Prologue".
Target Practice: In clue 5, we changed "total." to "total, but not both."
Acts of War: In the novel text, we deleted the repeated word "man".
Shades of Things to Come: We changed AHEEMTRIZATIONAEW to AHEEMTRISATIONAEW.
Down on the Farm: We removed the indent at the start of the novel text.
Statuesque Beauties: In Euterpe's grid, we deleted the line separating the 4th letter of the 6-letter word from the 7th letter of the 7-letter word below it.
In addition, while this isn't in the ebook, we've noted this errata:
Alfie at the Zoo: In the 3rd couplet on the right, we intend to replace the "s" with a space.
Are you interested in differences between the eBook and the paper version? Because the sixth item in Dracula's Crypt (nine of diamonds) is a different word.
We just launched a thousand backer copies of the ebook. If you have any questions about your copy, please go here: http://www.puzzazz.com/contact
Folks: Our intent is to fulfill the ebook tomorrow. If you're getting one of those, please make sure you don't have Mailchimp blocked on your email account.
James: We're very happy to hear that. As we've mentioned, this is a very large project, and we're doing our best to make sure everything goes right for everyone. When it doesn't, you have our most profuse apologies.
Got my book in and it looks great.
Working on it. We have the paper in, and we're waiting for the prints to be finalized so Pete can sign them.
Any word on when the art prints will ship?
A quite update, which we will go into a great deal more info about next week: the ebook is done and submitted to Apple. We will get backers the info of how to get their copies when we know it's approved by Apple and available for redemption. I'm sorry that we don't have more information about it at this time, and we appreciate your patience.
James: We're looking into it right now. Really sorry about this.
Continue to wait for my hard copy. No follow up from you guys in a month. I'm feeling really disappointed and frustrated.
The ebook version will be optimized for the iPad, so it will look very crisp.
To everyone: I was hoping to have a positive announcement about the ebook this week, but no such luck. Hopefully next week. Thanks as always for your patience.
Will the ebook version have vector fonts? The low-res aliasing on the pdf copy is straining my eyes...
thankyou. I have the pdf now.
Ken: We have deleted and then reimported your email address into Gumroad. Anyone else who feels they should have received a PDF and hasn't should please let our info account know.
Just been checking my multitude of sponsored Kickstarter projects.
I discovered that while I have received the (marvellous) physical copy of the book I have yet to receive the pdf or ebook. Can you assist?
Adam: We hope to have a positive announcement this coming week. Stay tuned.
Jason: We're really sorry about this. Just FYI, between Kickstarter and After the Crowd, we have almost 4,000 orders. We're obviously not happy when even one of them goes astray. And we apologize when it does. But we appreciate when folks give us the benefit of the doubt. We're trying hard and doing the best we can with a very big job (for our little company, anyway).
I've been pretty patient, but now I'm getting pretty upset. It has been well over a month since all orders were done shipping, and I **STILL** haven't received my physical book yet. I got a couple of e-mails from Lone Shark Games, each separated by weeks of them telling me they are "looking into it", and then one from Penny Arcade fulfillment on 9/5 asking me for my address and pledge level (which I replied to the same day). I've heard nothing at all since then.
I'm completely understanding when a project takes longer than it is supposed to, that seems to happen with the majority of projects. I have no problems with delays in the production of a product to ensure it's quality.
But when the product is completed and I could actually go out and buy it in a regular online storefront for well over a month now (it went on sale in Penny Arcade's shop on 8/4), and I haven't received even so much a tracking number, it makes me pretty upset.
This is pretty terrible customer service. I guess I'm going to have to look into reporting this to Kickstarter.
Hi, guys -- any news? It's been nearly two weeks since the last post here, and still no sign of the ebook?
We are waiting for a final build from Puzzazz. We will post details when we see something that's ready to go. Sorry for the delay.
Hi there, is there a time frame when the solvable e-book will be ready? Forgive me if I missed this.
Kevin, James, Jason, Andrew: Sorry, we are checking on those orders right now. We will let you know what we find out.
From personal notes on KS:
Lone Shark Games
Jul 29, 2014
Your order does not show as shipped in our system, sadly. Likely this week.
From Comments in this thread:
"Matthew: All but 16 physical orders have gone out, and those will go out tomorrow. At that point, we'll be done with all our physical orders."
I left a note 3 or so days ago, with no response yet.
I have yet to receive my copy of the book as well. My last contact from you was 8-15-14. I have sent two e-mails to info@lonesharkgames with no reply. I am becoming frustrated by this process and I'm not sure if I will ever back any future projects.
What the heck is going on here? I have yet to receive my book and I have contacted you several times. You are looking into it was the last response two weeks ago. Getting really disappointed at the lack of response.
I *still* haven't received my physical book. Contact from email@example.com has been extremely slow. My last contact was 10 days ago, and then radio silence again. Not quite sure what is going on.
