Update #17: Final Stretch Goals, A Shark Frenzy, and Doctor Zeez's Conclusions

We've had a bit of a surge in the last couple days, and we appreciate all the support for our strange little game (okay, our strange big game). We've been grateful for all the publicity we've gotten from sites like this interview on GamingTrend. Thanks to everyone for spreading the word.

Okay, we've unlocked everything we've put out there so far, so it's time to unveil our last stretch goals.

Stretch goals: More dice, RPG missions, and the Day Zero promo card

One of the restrictions on the design team has been a maximum of 16 dice in the box. Too expensive, too heavy, etc. You know how it is. Spreadsheets.

Well, heck with that. If we reach $300,000, every set will come with 20 dice. This will either increase the number of dice of a specific color you can roll or create a spillover color so that you don't choose a different color for your extra dice on a roll. We're still debating that one. But hey, more dice!

The designers also keep agitating for more RPG missions. So if we reach $315,000, we will include nine example RPG missions either in the Gamemastering Guide (if we have space) or as a free PDF of DriveThru. These will be short missions like "Tabula Rasa" from the playtest rules, and will be usable with the mission cards in the game.

The most special promo card in the game is the exclusive Day Zero promo card. It is a card we plan to make available to retailers and conventions until the day before the game goes into retail, and then it will never again be available from us. If we hit our highest stretch goal of $333,333, everybody on this campaign gets it.

It's also probably the coolest card in the game and we can't tell you any more about it. So if we get to that extremely thematic number, you will all get one.

Vote for sharks!

One of the designers on this game is Paul Peterson, who also designed the brilliant game Smash Up. TODAY ONLY, you can go to the It's All Your Fault page and vote for the next Smash Up deck! And let me see if I can phrase this gingerly….

THERE ARE SHARKS AND YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR THEM

There. I feel better now.

Doctor Zeez's Journal, Entry #10

Doctor Zeez has the polypagus cornered. And skinned. And… ick.

If you find what Doctor Zeez will use to defeat the polypagus, send it in an email to (whatever your answer is)@lonesharkgames.com (without spaces). You will be rewarded by auto-reply with the Badge of the Saints if you do, and you can turn it into your icon on Twitter, Facebook, Kickstarter, or anywhere else. Please do!

Just one day to go. Thanks, everyone, for supporting the Apocrypha Adventure Card Game. We really appreciate it.

Okay, i've looked around and i can't find it, so is there somewhere that the puzzle answers were posted? The ones i didn't get are starting to drive me a little crazy, and everyone i know is tired of me showing the puzzles to them...haha. Please let us know the answers! =D

@ Julian Horne: Thanks! We enjoyed making all the "zeezles."

well that took a long time and several false alleys but I got there in the end...
really enjoyed the puzzles, best engagement I have seen from any KS project

Ok. Steven has shown me how I was overthinking it. Done and done (I hope; just waiting for the confirmation email!)...

    5. Titus on

This puzzle has me super annoyed. I feel like it's too big a leap in difficulty from the last ones; like when a video game suddenly throws you into a different style of play with no preparation!

Or maybe I'm overthinking it. Either way, it's beginning to stress me out way too much...

Ahhhhh, that took my brain far too long to twig, and no small amount of hinting from Steven (thank you again).

Atheral: Neat. We always try to end with a brain-killer.

    8. Atheral on

Okay that puzzle was deviously hard compared to the rest of them. Though I must say these puzzles are the most fun I've had in a kickstarter campaign though, so congrats on that.

Lone Shark Games: That was, indeed, my domain name for the longest time, and predates the email address; English Major puns are the best puns. (I'm honestly not sure who has control of the address nowadays... maybe my webmaster friend who set it up for me back in the '00s?)

I may be a day 1 backer (can´t remember). - I dislike KS exclusive content, so I would prefer for everyone to get the same cards; at least mechanically. But I´m fine with whatever LSG decides..

Steven: I really want you to have a domain called waitingforgo.com.

    12. Forrest Woodward on

I had a bit of an issue with making the math work for a couple of minutes. I wouldn't have been able to finish all of these without a little help from a friend.

    13. Steven Marsh on

If anyone's having problems with the last puzzle (or any of them, really), feel free to write me at waitingforgo (AT) gmail (DOT) com. I'm happy to provide gentle nudges.

I'm thinking they are looking at the Celsus from Physician Fame.

      He wrote a well-respected anatomy book. I think that's a red herring though.... I couldn't find a copy of the text on-line.

Update on the new promo card: The "Day One" card will be an alternate art card of the "Day Zero" card. We will make sure all the content is the same so that no one misses out on any cards. Whether or not we reach the final stretch goal, all Kickstarter backers at the $99 level or above will get the same content.

We hope this solution will satisfy everyone. We're trying really hard to make sure we're responding to people's requests.

      Rough puzzle.... Stuck but good.

Helps that I can see the math portion but, can't figure how to apply it.

There is a confirmed promo for everyone who backed on day one, this is a second promo that is only made if they reach $333,333.

    22. yardswimmer

That's basically what they said in that last comment. At least how I read it.

    23. Matthew Dimalanta
      Superbacker
      on

Ok, so I just want to make sure I got this right. If you get to $333K you make a promo that goes to all backers & retailers & cons the day before release, but not released afterward. If we don't hit $333K then you don't make the promo. No matter what everyone in the Kickstarter gets everything when it comes to promos?

    24. Lone Shark Games 6-time creator
      Superbacker

I think there is some confusion here.

Our intent is that every backer will get this card if we make that goal and we won't make a special promo card if we don't. No one in the campaign will miss out on anything we have said we were going to make. I really hope people understand that we think very highly of our backers.

I gotta say, I agree with magicpink. It is your kickstarter supporters that made this game happen (funding-wise), not some random person attending a convention or a retailer that will be reselling your game (that, again, would not exist if not for your backers). You may want to reconsider how you frame this.

Wait a minute. You're NOT giving "the coolest card in the game" to the people giving you money to make the game happen by default? What kind of bullshit is that?

Dang. I got stuck on #6 and #9, and this one has me stumped.

    29. Jason G on

This is misleading then "The most special promo card in the game is the exclusive Day Zero promo card. It is a card we plan to make available to retailers and conventions until the day before the game goes into retail, and then it will never again be available from us. If we hit our highest stretch goal of $333,333, everybody on this campaign gets it."

The day one Kickstarter backers are getting a special card from us that isn't this one.

    33. Jason G on

seems pretty clear it is the same one.

Is the Day Zero exclusive card the same exclusive card that Day 1 KS backers are getting? Or are these 2 different promo cards?
