This is us --------> Listen to The Snake Doctors
The Snake Doctors (Lon Eldridge and Chris Ryan) are headed out to take Europe by storm! We'll be in Denmark and Belgium mostly, but hopefully other countries like Germany, Switzerland, France, and the Netherlands. The sky is the limit! But here's the catch, we can't do it without the support of our fans, friends, and families.
So, what will we be doing?
Watch this: What is Ethno?
Last year, Lon Eldridge, Christie Burns, and John Boulware embarked on an epic musical journey to Ethno Flanders, a week-long international music conference that draws young musicians from all over the world. Flanders Ethno is based in Ostende, Belgium, and is held in a schoolhouse that is not in use during the summer. Participants spend a week together learning and teaching traditional music from their native lands. The experience is indescribably wonderful, and it creates a bond between people and cultures in a way that only music can. Language barriers are torn down, cultural differences are embraced and celebrated, and new music is made. At the end of the week, the entire ensemble of over forty people play several concerts of the tunes learned during the week.
There are many Ethnos all over the world (http://www.ethno-world.org) and this year, Chris and Lon will be going to Ethno Flanders AND Ethno Denmark. This is another Ethno gathering in Odense, Denmark. This is uncharted territory for both Lon and Chris, so this will be incredibly exciting!
After the first week in Denmark and then a week in Belgium, we plan to take a couple of more weeks and play concerts, festivals, house concerts, busk on the street, and generally travel to wherever the music takes us. This part is still in the planning stages. Europeans tend to love and adore American roots music. We anticipate a good response to the music that is so near and dear to our hearts.
So, what does my money go to?
The biggest expense we face is transportation. Most of your contributions will go towards paying for plane tickets, as well as transport between countries (bus, train, or plane), and perhaps a rental car if we need it. Also, your gift helps cover our participation fees in Ethno Denmark. Fees for Ethno Flanders have been generously waived. In addition, your gift will go to things like lodging and food and unexpected, essential expenses that are part of any tour.
