About this project
The saying two minds are better than one could not be any more true. Resistance is the brain child created by my brother and I. Together we have close to 20 years of experience in physical fitness. 20 years is a long time and regular workout routines can become monotonous. That is why we are constantly innovating in the gym or at home.
We have been incorporating resistance bands into our workouts for years, wrapping, hooking, and knotting them around machines and benches. About 8 months ago, we were debating between using dumbbells or barbell with resistance bands for our chest workout. My brother said lets try and use dumbbells with resistance bands. So he held the band's handle in his hand and picked up a pair of dumbbells. Not only was it extremely uncomfortable but dangerous as well. Frustrated, my brother said, "what if there was a wrist strap that we can hook the bands to?" That is all that I needed to hear. I spent that weekend developing a prototype to attach resistance bands to our wrists. With a functional prototype we couldn't wait to get to the gym each day and put them to good use. In the past few months, we have figured out ways to incorporate resistance bands to nearly any exercise you would want to use in your routine. We could not finish a workout without curious stares or people coming up to us asking about the straps or where they could purchase them. So we decided to bring them to the masses.
First of all, resistance bands in general are a bit misunderstood in the fitness world. They are often disregarded as a "light" training apparatus. Well RESISTANCE is out to smash that misconception.
A unique benefit of elastic bands that free weights do not offer is linear variable resistance. What this means is that, as the range of motion of the exercise increases, the resistance provided by the elastic equipment increases.
For example, when doing a biceps curl, as you curl your hand up toward your shoulder, the resistance of the elastic tubing increases. This is due to the physical properties of elastic material.
A direct result of the increasing tension is the number of muscle fibers that are being used in the exercising muscle also increase. The more muscle fibers being used, the greater the adaptations in muscle strength that can be achieved with the training program. This benefit is not offered by free-weight resistance.
Another reason linear variable resistance, as provided by elastic resistance, is beneficial is due to what is known as the strength curve of muscles. The linear variable resistance provided by elastic tubing better mimics the strength curves of most muscles. A strength curve refers to the way a muscle’s or muscle group’s strength changes over a range of motion. Because of their anatomy, most muscles increase in strength over the range of motion until a certain point.
Again using the biceps curl as an example, as you curl the hand toward the shoulder, the muscle gets stronger up until about the halfway point of the range of motion. Thus, the biceps muscle is weakest at the start of the exercise and strongest at the halfway point of the exercise. When doing a biceps curl with a free weight, the individual is limited to how much resistance he can use by how strong the biceps are at the beginning of the exercise (its weakest point). That means that during the biceps curl, the muscle is not receiving adequate resistance when the muscle is in its strongest point in the range of motion. When performing a curl with elastic tubing, however, the resistance increases as the range of motion increases. This means the muscle is receiving greater resistance at its strongest point in the range of motion and therefore is receiving more adequate resistance to better stimulate strength adaptations.
The possible applications of the Resistance system are practically endless! To name a few:
• Strength and Conditioning
• Weight Loss/Aerobic Exercise
• Group/Team training
• Sport-Specific Exercises
Perfectly applied to your normally gym routine to take your workout to the next level. Resistance is also easily portable and can practically replace in an entire gym. Perfect for in the gym, at home, or on the road training!
Why Resistance: If the physiological benefits are not enough to convince you that Resistance is the missing key to your physical progress. How about to bring some excitement back to your fitness routine? The Resistance System can be applied to nearly any exercise. We encourage you to get creative and put the fun back in fitness.
The Game Plan:
Your support will provide us with the funds needed to bring the Resistance System to market. Your pledges will give us the funds needed to add the few finishing touches to the Resistance System to make it perfect!
Mid-April: Begin production and assembly of the Resistance straps and bands.
End of April: Approve consumer-ready samples and begin mass production.
Mid-Late May: Receive product and initiate distribution.
Final Phase: Lift, Train, and Excel!
Resistance Bands are offered in 4 different tensions and 2 different lengths! The long bands are great for majority of your workouts but the short bands are perfect for a short range of motion exercises like chest and back routines to name a few. Please Specify your SIZE/TENSION.
Choose Your Color!
Grab a Resistance shirt and rep it where ever you go!

Risks and challenges
There are always risks associated with innovation. At LoneDrone Innovations, we believe that the best way to mitigate risk is preparation. That is why we have spent endless hours on Research and Design as well as ensuring that our manufacturing partners meet our extremely high expectations. We have spent months building a relationship with our manufacturing partners to ensure a speedy turnaround at the highest standard of quality.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
No. The straps shown are prototypes. The consumer ready straps will have an updated R-Clip which is finished and anodized in the colors shown. And the strap will sport a Resistance logo to match the chosen R-Clip. The consumer ready straps have come a long way. We can't wait for you guys to see them!
Of course you can! The amount of exercises that can be done with the Resistance System are endless. We encourage creativity!
