The Fastest MOLLE Connection Solution:
MOLLE straps, by design, are hard to use. Ripstay turns that on its ear. With Ripstay, you can strategically customize your kit, adapt to every mission, and experience the lightning fast disconnect capabilities Ripstay provides. If you use MOLLE or PALS gear, Ripstay is for you.
What is MOLLE/PALS?
MOLLE stands for "Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment," while PALS refers to the attachment mechanism, or "Pouch Attachment Ladder System."
In other words, MOLLE/PALS is the horizontal webbing commonly found on backpacks, first aid kits, bags, tactical gear, and vests as a way to attach other gear and pouches. If any of your gear has horizontal webbing, Ripstay will let you expand your gear faster and easier.
If your work or play involve search & rescue, law enforcement, military, paintball, airsoft, or travel, Ripstay will add a level of flexibility and utility you never thought possible.
An industry expert recently stated:
"Ripstays are designed specifically for use with MOLLE gear to turn what is supposed to be a modular system in to an ACTUAL modular system. Ripstays are lightweight so there is no extra bulk added to your kit."
- Nick, Law Enforcement, Arkansas
Garrett and I originally developed the Ripstay MOLLE connection system because we wanted a simple solution for customizing our MOLLE configurations. When we looked around, we discovered nothing makes MOLLE easy. The entire MOLLE/PALS attachment and removal process is slow and cumbersome by design. There’s no way around it. It’s just painstakingly tedious to remove each individual nylon strap.
So, we decided to create the ideal solution ourselves. This journey began two years ago. Since then, we’ve built and tested many iterations, leveraging 3D printing and thermoformed plastics to develop each prototype.
With hundreds of handmade kits sent to domestic and international experts in the military, police, SWAT, rescue, airsoft/milsim, and outdoor communities, we’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback from all over the world.
We know Ripstay has the potential to improve the lives of MOLLE/PALS users everywhere. But to give Ripstay a proper launch, we need your help!
Please back this campaign and treat yourself to the next evolution of MOLLE. We also hope you'll share this project with your friends, colleagues, and social networks via for your preferred social media platform.
Mission of Ripstay:
- Customize your system for each mission
- Balance your load, and position equipment evenly to prevent back injury
- Quickly attach, remove, and access your gear
While the standard 5" Ripstay kits will be a perfect solution for upgrading most of your pouches and accessories, some gear may need a longer configuration. That's why we've set a stretch goal of $35K to manufacture a 9" version of Ripstay. The two sizes will cover most every MOLLE configuration available.
Garrett and Martin have been working together creating, testing, and proving out the Ripstay system for almost two years. The system has undergone numerous revisions, all in the pursuit of putting Modular back into MOLLE gear.
Deep down, Garret is a tinker who enjoys creating and building gear. With a background in manufacturing, he is always looking for ways to solve problems and create efficiencies. With a love of the outdoors, his true home is in the mountains. In addition to co-founding Ripstay, he is the founder of Draggin Bags and has been sewing the world’s toughest bags since first launching on Kickstarter in2013.
Martin will tell you he would rather be busy than bored, which has lead to extensive world travel (19 countries), noteworthy educational pursuits, 6 years in the USAF, and exciting collaborations with successful startups like Draggin Bags. In addition to co-founding Ripstay, he is the founder and principal instructor for Victory Training Co, an emergency preparedness consultancy and training organization which has taught more than 3500 participants since 2013.

Risks and challenges
With hundreds of pre-production Ripstays out in the wild, we have received extensive positive feedback on the system. We are confident in Ripstays' ability to take your gear to the next level. As we move from laboriously forming each Ripstay by hand to injection molding, we will be upgrading to a high-tech polymer multiple times stronger than the test kits. The pre-production Ripstays were plenty strong, we are just upgrading plastics because we can, and you deserve it!
Injection molds are expensive, and pose the greatest hurdle to overcome, hence why we need your help. We are working closely with a local, veteran owned and operated injection molding company who will be making all the parts in the USA.
While every Kickstarter raises unexpected challenges, we believe we are well prepared to meet them. Garrett, owner of Draggin Bags, has previously launched 3 successful Kickstarter campaigns, all of which were shipped on-time or early.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
