Thank you for taking the time to visit my Kickstarter page, watch the video, and read about this project. I am so excited about this band and the album we have created, but now we need your help to see this project through!
Logan Hone’s Similar Fashion is a Los Angeles-based quartet consisting of:
- Logan Hone: Saxophone, Bass Clarinet
- Lauren Baba: Viola
- Gregory Uhlmann: Guitar
- Mike Lockwood: Drums
Lauren, Greg, and Mike are three of the most inspiring musicians and improvisers I have ever heard. Their completely original sounds, deep rooted musicality, constant creativity, and incredible personalities make every time playing with them completely different, and always a total blast. This group draws from elements of New York’s Downtown scene of musicians (such as John Zorn, Tim Berne, and Anthony Braxton), contemporary classical music, and indie rock; combining these elements in explorations of intricate composition and collective improvisation, all through the lens of our unique instrumentation.
We have spent the last year composing, rehearsing, and playing shows. In May 2015, we went into the studio to record our debut album. We recorded the album with recording wiz Greg Hartunian and are so excited about the results that we have so far.
The album is set to be released on the legendary record label, pfMENTUM. The label has released tons of amazing music by artists like Jeff Kaiser, Vinny Golia, Nels Cline, and Grampus. We are thrilled to be a part of such a great legacy of creative music. pfMENTUM uses a collective/community model that allows artists to maintain ownership of their music while helping the artist get discounted manufacturing prices and helps distribute the music to radio stations and reviewers across the U.S. and abroad. You can learn more about it here.
I am so excited for the opportunity to use Kickstarter, an incredible platform that enables projects to get supported by communities. I have already paid for the cost of recording and mixing, but still need to pay for printing, mastering, promotional costs, and artwork.
This is where you come in:
You can pledge $15 and pre-order a physical copy of the album with a digital download or choose from any of the other awesome rewards for larger contributions. We only have 30 days to raise $2,500. If we don’t raise all of it by the deadline, we will sadly not have the financial means to see this project through properly. Every little bit counts!
Please spread the word to friends on Facebook, Twitter, handwritten letters, or just telling them in person!
Thank you so much for being a part of this project, your support means the world to us!
Risks and challenges
This project will not be finished without your help. Because I have already paid for recording and mixing this album, the music is finished. We just need to raise funds for finishing and releasing it. With your help, there should be no setbacks.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
