6 Years in 6 Minutes

Hello, noble backers, and greetings. It's been a long, long time since you all lent me your support and helped get the first issue of 'Soulless' off the ground. In the intervening 6 years (6? Really? It feels like forever ago) a lot has happened. This update is intended to provide a final summary of what's happened with 'Soulless' as well as mention what else may be on the horizon.

First, foremost, and of most interest to you all: what's happened with 'Soulless'? Those of you who followed me on Facebook might know some of this, but the comic has had a rocky up-and-down journey over the last half-decade. I made strong inroads with a publisher that I met at a convention, and we actually made good progress on getting a deal in place to publish the final 6 issues of the comic. Unfortunately, everything fell apart when my artist decided to leave the project, leaving us somewhat directionless. After that, we explored various options, but one thing after another fell through until the publisher ultimately lost interest and moved on to other things. While 'Soulless' is still near and dear to my heart, I am not entirely sure what the future holds for it. I am currently working with an excellent artist on another project (and have been for a few years) who is interested and willing to tackle 'Soulless,' unfortunately I just don't have the finances to personally produce it. So in the meantime, I'm still looking for an option that will get this made, but I have no timeline. For now, here's a sample page from the artist who, if this gets back off the ground, will likely be illustrating.

Next, let me tell you briefly about the other project I alluded to above. As many of you know, I have written a webcomic for many years (this, in itself, followed up years of writing a weekly comic in college). I have worked with many different artists over the years, but about 4 years ago I began working with Aleksandar Jovic and have never looked back. The comic is titled Counterfeit Nickels and ran for 6 years overall, and 4 with Aleksandar. Recently, we decided to take down our website and archives and re-start the comic, focusing on reaching a wider audience than we ever had before. Currently, we are a month into our new once-a-week publication schedule, and the comic is also being published on GeekDad.com and the tabletop gaming site APawnsPerspective. Our core platform is our Facebook page, which I would like to cordially invite you to like and share. A new comic goes up every Tuesday at 6PM CT. As a special treat for you backers, here is a comic that won't be published for nearly a year. Enjoy!

That's the nutshell version of what's been going on, at least related to 'Soulless.' In my own life, I now am the Director of Operations for an escape room, which is a fun, constantly-challenging job. I also have been very involved with the board game world, and have some projects on that front that should be going public later this year.

Thanks for sticking with me, if you've read this far, and I hope you found something of interest. This will likely be the last update I make on this page until such a day as I have something concrete to offer on the 'Soulless' front. In the meantime, I hope you join me over on the Facebook page for my comic and I look forward to showing everyone what else I have in the pipeline.

Thanks, everyone!
